Dragonflies and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge.

CCMC471

Before I even show you what I made for this challenge I want to apologize to the color,  Lemon Lime Twist.  I just cannot take a picture that captures how fabulous you are.

AstheInkDriesCCMC471

 You will need:

4-1/4" x 11" Bermuda Bay card stock scored at 5-1/2" , 3"x 3-3/4" (cut out dragonflies)

3-1/2" x 4-3/4" Lemon Lime Twist card stock

3-1/4" x 4-1/2" Smoky Slate card stock

3" x 3-3/4" Multipurpose Adhesive sheet

Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven ribbon

  1. Apply the Multipurpose Adhesive sheet to the back of the 3" x 3-3/4" piece of Bermuda Bay card stock.  Use the thinlit and cut out the dragonflies.  Emboss the dragonflies using a mix of Clear Embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter aka Glittery Goodness.
  2. Cut the dragonflies out of the Smoky Slate card stock.  The Smoky Slate dragonflies will not be used on this card. Layer the Smoky Slate card stock on to the Lemon Lime Twist card stock.
  3. Remove the backing from the Multipurpose Adhesive sheet and fit the Bermuda Bay dragonflies into the dragonflies silhouette on the Smoky Slate piece.
  4. Tie a double knot using the Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven ribbon.  Layer on to the Bermuda Bay card base.  Stamp "hello" and embellish using the Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes.

Pocketful of Sunshine and the Create wth Connie and Mary Challenge #469

It is HOT here in the usually cool Pacific Northwest.  I think the hot, sunny weather definitely influenced the stamp set I chose to work with for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  First here are the colors for the challenge.

CCMC469

  PocketfulofSunshineAstheInkDries

Don't ya just love those sunglasses?  I covered the lenses with Fine-Tip glue to give it them a shiny glass like look.  The glue also helps give the lenses some dimension.

Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Fresh Fig, Powder Pink, Fresh Florals DSP Stack

This Little Piggy and the Try Stampin' On Tuesday Challenge

It is time for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #333.  Here is the sketch we are working with.  The optional theme is the Dog Days of Summer.

TSOT333

I didn't really follow the optional theme since my card is not the Dog Days of Summer but the little piggy days of summer!  I did a little paper piecing on the sweet little piggy.  I stamped her on one of the designs in the Wood Textures DSP Stack and cut her out.   I extended the flower stem and added a sweet Flirty Flamingo flower from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

Lots of Love and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

Time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #468.  This week it is a sketch challenge and here is the sketch we have to work with.

CCMC468

I used the Lots of Love stamp set and the coordinating  Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper.

LotsofLoveSharonBurkert

I stamped the flower from the Lots of Love stamp in Peekaboo Peach and then fussy cut it and the leaves.  I used the Layered Leaves 3-D Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder on the other panel.  The 3-D folder creates a deeper more dimensional impression. Here's a list of all the products I used.

Stamps: Lots of Love

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento pad, Peekaboo Peach, Pool Party, Old Olive, Black Stampin' Write Marker

Paper: Pool Party, Peekaboo Peach , Whisper White,  Whole Lot of Lovely DSP

Big Shot: Layering Squares and Layering Circles

Embellishments:  Pool Party3/8" Shimmer Ribbon, Subtles Enamel Shapes

Ribbon of Courage Bundle and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  This week we have a Color Challenge.  Ready?

astheinkdries Ribbon of Courage bundle

Don't you love this happy, summery color combination?  I thought of flowers and remembered the great flower die in the Support Ribbon framelits.  This die was a happy surprise since there isn't a coordinating stamp in the bundle and I love the fun details on this flower.

AstheinkdriesRibbonofCourage

Isn't it an adorable flower?  The leaves aren't too shabby either.  The sentiment is from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and isn't the mix of fonts just fabulous?  In addition to the Ribbon of Courage bundle I also used the big scallop die from the Seasonal Layers thinlits and the new embossing folder, Polka Dot Basics.

Hope you join in the challenge.  Be sure to go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog to read all about the challenge and be sure to check out what the design team made.

Vertical Greetings and Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #466

Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge # 466.  Here is the super fun sketch for this week's challenge.

CCMC466

Here's what I made.

Verticalgreetingsberryburstastheinkdries

Even though I have a few, okay maybe more than a few, new stamp sets I decided to pull out the Vertical Greetings set.  I just love the topiaries and somehow I thought it just fit the sketch so well.   Did you notice the punched border?  It was made using the Decorative Ribbon Border punch and the Color Theory DSP.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  The  ribbon is the Berry Burst 5/8" Crinkled Seam Binding.  I think it is my new favorite ribbon.  This ribbon is soft, so easy to tie and it lays pretty flat.

I hope you will join in the challenge.  Be sure to check out what the other designers made with this sketch.  I love how everyone has a different take on the sketch.  So very fun and inspiring.  You can get all the details about the challenge HERE.

Bike Ride and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #465

It is Thursday which means it is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week it is a color challenge.

CCMC465

Hmm, what to make?  After taking a quick look through my stamp sets I decided on the Bike Ride set and the coordinating Build a Bike framelits.   Don't you just love the tassels on the handles?

You know I love the Night of Navy gingham ribbon and I think it adds just the right finishing touch to this card. You know I like this ribbon so much that I ordered it in Smoky Slate too.  My only complaint is that I want it in even more colors!

So, what will you make with this color combination? Need more inspiration? Be sure to check out what the other designers created and then submit your own creation. Get all the details here.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday and Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July!   Today is my turn to play along with the other Try Stampin' on Tuesday designers in this week's sketch challenge.

TSOT Sketch 329

optional theme:  Dainty and Neat

TSOT329sharonburkertastheinkdries2

Don't you love the red and white diagonal stripe?  This is a stamp!  It is the Diagonal Stripe background stamp.  I am so happy to have this stamp.  I can now make my own striped background paper in any color I want.  I did use a positioner and stamped it twice to make sure I got complete coverage and so pleased with how it came out.

TSOT329sharonburkertastheinkdries

The sentiment is from the Beverage Bar stamp set . I love this font and it is just perfect for so many occasions.  Are you wondering what I used to cut out the star?  I found this lovely star in the Mini Treat Bag thinlit dies and I cut it out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  It makes me happy to look through my dies and find lots of different shapes I can use.  The Mini Treat Bag thinlits are especially handy as they not only have a bigger heart and star but smaller ones too!

TSOT329sharonburkertastheinkdries3

I wanted to share with you these glittery and shiny dots!  I punched these out from Red Glimmer paper and then covered them with glue from the Fine Tip Glue pen, so fun.

Beautiful Bouquet and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #464

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #464.  This week the challenge is to pick one of the Foxy Friends layouts on page 105 of the Stampin' Up! catalog to use as inspiration for our project.  I love all the samples shown and in fact have them marked "to make".

Here's what I made and I think you can tell pretty easily what layout I used for my inspiration.
