Jar of Love and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #480

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  I  am excited to show you the card I made.  First things first, here is the sketch for this week.

CCMC480

Here's what I made for this week's sketch challenge.

AstheInkDriesCCMC480

What do you think?  Don't you love the little deer?  I stamped her using the Carols of Christmas stamp set and then cut her out using the Card Front Builder Thinlit dies.   The tree is also from the Card Front Builder Thinlit dies.  I smooshed some Embossing Paste on the tree to mimic snow, then poured on some Dazzling Diamond Glitter, and set it aside to dry.  Really fun way to use the Embossing Paste.   Those itty bitty stars are also from the Card Front Builder dies.

I stamped the medium jar from the Jar of Love stamp set on Vellum card stock and cut it out using the Everyday Jar Framelits.  I layered the stars, tree, and deer on the vellum and then layered a window sheet that I cut using the jar framelits over it.  I partially embossed the Winter Wonder Embossing folder and then layered the "snow globe" on it.  The sentiment is from the Season to Sparkle stamp set.

Smooshing and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #479

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week we have a color challenge.

CCMC479

This color combination was quite the challenge for me.  I decided that I would try a technique called Ink Smooshing.  Here's what I came up with.

AstheInkDriesCCMC479

Have you tried Ink Smooshing?   To do this technique you need watercolor paper, ink, a piece of acetate and a spritzer.  You lay down some ink and spritz it with water.  You use the acetate to pick up the ink and then you smoosh it down.  Since you are using watercolor paper the ink moves and blends.  You keep adding color until you are happy with your results.  Choosing the right color combination is really important.  I am so glad that this week's colors worked well with this technique.   I used one of my favorite dies, the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits. I think the dragonflies look great flying through the Garden Green, Lemon Lime and Soft Sky.  The sentiment is from the Best Birds stamp set.

Hope you will join in the challenge.  Be sure to check out what the other members of the design team created for this challenge.

Seasonal Lantern and the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #343

It is time for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge #343.

AstheInkDriesTSOT343

This time I actually followed the sketch pretty closely and even used the optional theme.  Here is the sketch.

TSOT343

The optional theme for this sketch is Leaves.

I used one of my favorite bundles, Seasonal Lantern.  The lantern was created using Copper Foil sheets and Early Espresso card stock.  I love how rich the copper and Early Espresso look together.   I used the Colorful Season bundle to create the leaves.  I inked the leaves in Crushed Curry ink and then used a sponge dauber to add some Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.  I do love how they turned out.

Lots of Love and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #478

Time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #478.

AstheInkDriesCCMC478

Want to see the sketch for the challenge?

CCMC478

I used the Lots of Love stamp set which is one of the sets featured in the World Card Making Day special going on until October 10.  The strip of black and white Designer Series Paper is from the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP which is part of the Designer Series Paper Sale.  Yes, I did a bit of fussy cutting. The images are not very detailed so it wasn't very difficult to do.  What I really love about this stamp set are the sentiments.  Especially the one I featured on the inside of the card.

AstheInkDriesCCMC478

This sentiment gets used a lot!  I should stamp it on all my envelopes since every card I send or give is really a hug made of paper.   I also used the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions folder.  Isn't that a mouthful?  The 3-D embossing folders create a deeper more dimensional impression.

I hope you join in the Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  This is a great sketch and open to a lot of different interpretations.  For more inspiration be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created and then join in the challenge!

Oh So Eclectic and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #476

It is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  I am trying to balance using stamps from the Holiday catalog and the Annual Stampin' Up! catalog.

Here is the sketch for the challenge.

CCMC476

This sketch is just perfect to use washi tape.   I am determined to be a user of washi tape and not just a collector of washi tape.

AstheInkDriesCCMC476

I used  2 of the patterns in the Pick a Pattern Wash Tape.   This washi tape comes in 4 different color collection,  I love the black and white set since I use black and white a lot.  I added the Real Red flowers that were stamped with the Oh So Eclectic stamp set and cut out the outlines and flowers using the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.

AstheInkDriesOhSoEclectic

I added another strip of the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape inside of the card and another flower and leaf.  I like to dress up the inside of the card too.  I hope you will play along with the challenge.  Be sure to check out what the other members of the design team created for this sketch challenge.

Happy Halloween and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #475

Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week it is a color challenge.

CCMC475

I was at a loss of what to make.  I decided to look through my Designer Series Paper stash  and see what papers might work.  I pulled out the Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP and knew it was the perfect paper to use.   I cut out 2 of the pillow boxes from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies and made a cute Halloween treat box.

The pillow box is just the right size to fit a few mini candy bars in it.  The box goes together easily and will make a sweet treat for someone.  Be sure to check out what the other design team members created for the challenge.  I know you will be inspired.

Seasonal Lanterns and the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #339

Time for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge! This sketch really challenged me.

TSOT339

I decided to take a few liberties with the sketch and simplify it.  Here's what I made.

AstheInkDriesTSOT339

I hope you can still see the "bones" of the sketch in my card.  I used the Seasonal Lantern bundle (Seasonal Lantern stamp set and the Lantern Builder Framelits Dies) to create the lantern and the candle arrangement.  The sentiment is from the Remarkable You stamp set.  I masked off some of the sentiment so it says  "Grateful For You" instead of "And I'm So Grateful For You".

Year of Cheer Washi tape and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #474.  This week it is a sketch challenge.

CCMC474

I had an idea on what I wanted to make but needed to turn the sketch in order to make it work.

AstheInkDriesCCMC474

Lots of fun metallics were used to make this card.  First off I used the Year of Cheer Washi tape.  I buy a lot of washi tape but honestly I don't often use it. That has changed and I have been using this new washi tape a lot.  The Year of Cheer Washi tape is so pretty and just a little strip of it adds a lot of shine and interest.  I also used the new Champagne Foil on the larger snowflake.  It is hard to describe the color except that it is beautiful.

Seasonal Lantern and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

I love this week's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  It is a Color Challenge and I love this combination!

CCMC473

Some days things just work out.  I needed to work on my card for the design team and just minutes before I  received the Seasonal Lantern bundle from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.   I knew it was a sign and I needed to get the Seasonal Lantern set inked up!

AstheInkDriesSeasonalLanternCCMC

It was so much fun playing with the images and dies.  There are 36 stamps in the set and 17 dies.  So many possibilities.  I know I will be using the cute little bow stamp and die a lot!  The sentiment stamp (from the Seasonal Lantern set ) actually says Autumn Greetings.  I decided to just ink up the "Greetings" so I can use the card for any occasion.

Tomorrow, September 1 is when the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog will go live.  Just one more sleep.  If you do not have a Holiday catalog of your own and do not already have a demonstrator you work with, please contact me and I will get one mailed to you.

Be sure to go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog and see what the rest of the design team created.  They always inspire me with their creativty!
