Seasonal Lantern and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is Thursday and that means it is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  Every week the challenge alternates between a sketch or color challenge.  This week it is a color challenge.  Can you guess the colors?

AstheInkDriesCCMC487

If you guessed, Tranquil Tide, Calypso Coral and So Saffron, you are correct.

CCMC487

I wanted to use one of my favorite sets from the Holiday Catalog, Seasonal Lantern Bundle.   Why is this one of my favorites?   This is a very versatile bundle with lots of images that can be used for many different occasions.   The images are clean and simple in the best possible way.  I have used the bundle to create more handsome cards.  I hope that makes sense.   The set has 2 and 3 step images to stamp which makes it really easy to add color.  If you don't have this bundle in your craft room you might want to get it soon, it is on the Retiring list and won't be available after January  2. (The stamp set is guaranteed to be available until December 21.  The framelits are available while supplies last).

Festive Phrases and the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #351

It is time for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge.   What a great sketch we have this week to work with.

TSOT #351

Optional theme is Winter Time.

I knew I wanted to use Designer Series Paper (DSP) for this sketch.  I chose the Quilted Christmas 6" x 6" DSP to use.  This pack of paper has 4 each of 12 double sided designs for a total of 48 sheets.   There are lots of fun designs to chose from and more times than not I like both sides!  Sometimes deciding which side of the paper to use is the hardest part.

AstheInkDriesTSOT351

I used the Festive Phrases stamp set.  This set is one I have been reaching for more and more.  I used another of the images in the stamp set for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge #349.

Here's a close up of the lights.

I colored the lights in with Stampin' Write markers,  covered them with Fine-Tip Glue, and then sprinkled them with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Love how sparkly they look.

For the past 5 weeks, I have been sending out to my email subscribers a weekly email featuring a project sheet for a card and a 3-D item.  There are 3 weeks left in my 8 Weeks of the Holidays series.  If you are interested sign up for my email list on the right hand side of the blog.

Joy and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

Time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!.   Another lovely sketch to work with.

AstheInkDriesCCMC486

The snowflakes were cut using the Trim Your Stocking Thinlit dies.  I wanted a little sparkle so I cut them out of the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  Are you wondering where the "joy" is from?  I used the Mini Treat Bag thinlits die that says "enjoy" and did a little cutting.  I love finding more ways to use my dies.  The DSP I used is the Merry Little Christmas DSP.  The colors in this paper pack are Basic Black, Whisper White, and Old Olive. These colors are a little non traditional for Christmas.  I love them and especially love the black and white check.

Window Box Thinlits and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #485

Happy Thanksgiving! It is Thanksgiving here in the US and I am feeling especially thankful and grateful.   My son arrived last night (yay) and we are leaving soon to spend the day with even more family.

Today also is the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #485.  This week it is a color challenge.  The colors are not exactly what I think about when I think of Thanksgiving.  However the combination is a lovely one and it does make for a nice thank you card.

AstheInkDriesCCMC485

Can you tell from the picture the color combination?

  CCMC485

I used the Window Box thinlits to create the peekaboo border.  I was happy to discover that the square thinlits in the set line up just about perfectly and fit along the edge of a standard card.  I love the colors peeking through the cut outs.  You know what else is great?  TheWindow Box thinlits are 10% off through the 26th!  Yes, it is part of the Online Extravaganza!

Hope you are having a wonderful day and you are one of the things I am thankful for.

Painted Autumn DSP and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  This week we have another great sketch.

CCMC484

Here's what I made with the sketch.

AstheInkDriesCCMC484

The only stamping I did on this card is the sentiment, which is from the Remarkable You stamp set.  The flowers and the banner are both from the Painted Autumn DSP.

AstheInkDriesCCMC484close

I fussy cut the flowers and then brushed the petals with Wink of Stella to add a little shimmer.  I also applied some Fine-Tip glue to the center of the flowers to add some shine and dimension.  Two simple ways to add a little more interest to the card.

Bike Ride and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is time for another Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  If you follow the challenges you know that this week it is a color challenge!

CCMC483

My stamp sets from the Annual Stampin' Up! catalog have been feeling a little neglected.  I do feel sorry for them.  It seems like they have such a short time in the spotlight before the Holiday catalog debuts.   I decided that I would  pull out the Bike Ride bundle to create this week's card.

AstheInkDriesBikeRideCCMC483

I made my own bike patterned paper by stamping with Powder Pink ink on Powder Pink card stock.  I used the fun challenge colors to create a fun bike with Pool Party tires!  I didn't want the bike to get lost on the Powder Pink card stock so I layered it on a Whisper White stitched circle.  Whenever I am using Night of Navy I always try and use the gingham ribbon.  I love the look of it and the ribbon ties so beautifully.

Birthday Blooms and the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge

Sometimes at the end of a day I just want to sit quietly for a few minutes and color.  I find it a nice way to end the day and transition to going to sleep. I could have used the new Stampin' Blends but I decided to go "old school" and use my Aqua Painter and ink refills.

AstheInkDriesTSOT

One of my favorite images to color is the big floral from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  The image coordinates beautifully with the Petal Garden Designer Series Paper and this is how the idea for my card started to take shape.  I chose the colors based on the DSP and when I was done coloring I realized that I could use the image and DSP for my design team card for the  Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #347.

Color Me Happy and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

In honor of the debut of the new Stampin' Blends (Stampin' Up!  alcohol markers)  I decided to use them for my Create with Connie and Mary design team card.

Here is the sketch for this week.

CCMC482

Here s what I made inspired by the sketch

AstheInkDriesCCMC482

Are you wondering what stamp set these cute little lanterns are from?  This set is called Color Me Happy. The Color Me Happy stamp set can also be purchased as part of a kit.  I colored in the lanterns using the Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party Stampin'Blends.   The great thing about Stampin' Blends is that they are meant to blend, which means no more marker lines!  It is easy to make highlights and shadowing using these markers.

Be sure to check out what the other members of the design team created for this challenge.  I know you will be amazed at all the different ways the sketch was used.  I hope you too will join in the challenge.

Merry Cafe and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #481

I have to admit I didn't purchase the Coffee Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cup framelits when they first appeared in the Stampin' Up Annual catalog.  I thought they were adorable and put them on the "list".  When  I saw the Merry Cafe stamp set in the Holiday catalog I was a goner and ordered them all.  Now I seem to reach for those three items all the time.

This week's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge is a color challenge.

AstheInkDriesCCMC481

I enjoy making little gift items and one of my favorite little gift items to give is tea.  Why?  Well, they have little to no calories, most people like a cup of tea or at least knows someone who does, and a lot of times you can color coordinate the tea to the project.   The cute little "par-tea" stamp in the Merry Cafe stamp set is perfect for this kind of little gift.  This just might be the reason I could no longer resist getting the  stamp sets and die.

AstheInkDriesCCMC481

I recently did a small re-organization and de-stashing of my craft room.  When I do these, I find all kinds of things.  One of the things I found was my Envelope Punch Board.  I realized I haven't used this handy tool in a while.  The Envelope Punch Board was the perfect thing to create my little tea gift.   I started to Google tea bag holders and then stopped myself and realized that all I needed to know was on the Envelope Punch Board.  The 3" x 3" size is the perfect one for the teabag I am using.  I used the Fresh Florals DSP stack and followed the directions on the punch board to create the holder.

AstheInkDriesCCMC481epb

Originally I cut the coffee lid out of Cajun Craze card stock but decided it wasn't quite right.  Instead I stamped the lid with Cajun Craze ink and used a blender pen to lightly pull some of the ink (from the stamped lines) and lightly color the lid.   Are you wondering how I colored the leaves?  I used the small leaf stamp from Colorful Seasons stamp set.  I inked the stamp in Crushed Curry ink and then sponged on the other inks and then stamped.  You need to clean the stamp after each impression.  I like this method because it creates soft coloring and blending of the inks.

AstheInkDriesCCMC481open

I attached the cup and ribbon to the holder so it can be opened without destroying the envelope.  Do you see the almost Crushed Curry tea bag?  I may or may not have bought it for that reason.

Jar of Love and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #480

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  I  am excited to show you the card I made.  First things first, here is the sketch for this week.

CCMC480

Here's what I made for this week's sketch challenge.

AstheInkDriesCCMC480

What do you think?  Don't you love the little deer?  I stamped her using the Carols of Christmas stamp set and then cut her out using the Card Front Builder Thinlit dies.   The tree is also from the Card Front Builder Thinlit dies.  I smooshed some Embossing Paste on the tree to mimic snow, then poured on some Dazzling Diamond Glitter, and set it aside to dry.  Really fun way to use the Embossing Paste.   Those itty bitty stars are also from the Card Front Builder dies.

AstheInkDriesCCMC480close

I stamped the medium jar from the Jar of Love stamp set on Vellum card stock and cut it out using the Everyday Jar Framelits.  I layered the stars, tree, and deer on the vellum and then layered a window sheet that I cut using the jar framelits over it.  I partially embossed the Winter Wonder Embossing folder and then layered the "snow globe" on it.  The sentiment is from the Season to Sparkle stamp set.
