Fun Fold Friday

Fun Fold Friday Another Tranquil Tulips

Tranquil Tulips is one of my favorite hostess set, if you haven't already guessed.  Today's tutorial is not technically a "fun" fold.  More of a fun technique that looks way harder than it actually is.

Product List

 Measurements:

4-1/4" x 11" Thick Whisper White card stock, scored at 5-1/2" (card base)

4" x 5-1/4" Berry Burst card stock

3-3/4" x 5" Whisper White card stock (card front layer)

scrap pieces of Whisper White and Berry Burst card stock for sentiment

  1. Place the largest Square Stitched Shapes framelit on the 3-3/4" x 5" Whisper White card stock.  Center the Stitched Shape framelits as show in the picture and mark the corners in pencil.                                                                                                                                                                                                  FFFTRanquilTulips1SharonBurkert
  2. Stamp the tulips using the pencil marks as guidelines.  Place the largest square (Stitched Shapes) back on the pencil marks and place the #6 square (1 being the smallest square) of the Layering Squares framelits inside the other die.   You may want to secure it in place with a sticky note and run it through the Big Shot.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 FFFTranquilTulips2sharonburkert
  3. You will now have a stitched frame and a square piece.  Remove and set aside the stitched frame and square piece.  Layer the stamped piece on to the Berry Burst card stock.
      Ffftranqultulips3sharonburkert
  4. Lay the stitched square frame back in to the square (do not use any adhesive).  Use this as a guide to place the smaller square.  Apply adhesive to the smaller square and place it inside of the stitched frame.  Be sure to check that the stamped design matches up.
      Ffftranquiltulips4sharonburkert  Ffftranquiltulips5sharonburkert

  5. Remove the stitched frame.  Apply strips of the Foam Adhesive strips to the back of the frame.  Attach it back into the open frame on the card front layer.   Tie the ribbon around the card front.  Layer this whole piece on to the card base.                                                                                                              Ffftranquiltulips6sharonburkert  Ffftranquiltulips7sharonburkert

  6. Stamp sentiment of your choice and cut out using the Layering Oval framelits.  Attach it to the card using dimensionals.                                                   Ffftranquiltulips8sharonburkert
That is it!  On the original card I shared, the sentiment was stamped in the square.  This requires a little more planning but now that you know how to make this card you know what you need to do to do that too!  If you need any supplies please click on any of the pictures in the Products chart and it will take you to my online store.  I would appreciate it

Fun Fold Friday: Balloon Adventures

This is not only Fun Fold Friday, it is also a sneak peek!  I am sharing one of the projects we made at my last team meeting using the Lift Me Up stamp set(Occasions catalog) and the Carried AwayDesigner Series Paper(Sale-A-Bration).

Lift Me Up stamp set Carried Away DSP www.sharonburkert.com

I love this new stamp set.   This was a must have for me.  We live far away from where most of our family so this sentiment is one I will be using a lot.  The images in the set are also gender neutral so it solves that man card problem that plagues me.

Lift Me Up stamp set, Carried Away DSP www.sharonburkert.com

Product List

The Carried Away DSP is one of the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration choices.  What is Sale-A-Bration?  Beginning January 4 (start of Sale-A-Bration), you get to choose  a free item of your choice from the SAB brochure for every $50 you spend (before shipping and tax)  The choices this year are spectacular! If you do not already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator that you work with, let me know and I will send you the new Occasions catalog and the Sale-A-Bration one too!  Back to the Carried Away DSP.  The designs were made to coordinate with the Lift Me Up stamp set and since the paper is double-sided the other side has more neutral designs.  I have been playing with the paper and set so be ready to see a lot of samples with these two products!

I have a tutorial HERE of how to make your own Sliding Easel card.

Fun Fold Friday: Bunch of Blossoms Criss Cross card

On Wednesday I posted this card and promised to post a tutorial.  Well here it is!  Okay maybe not exactly the same card but the fold is the same.

Bunch of Blossom www.sharonburkert.com

  1. Cut a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of card stock and score it at 5-1/2
  2. Cut a diagonal from one corner to the fold line.  See the photo below.

tutorial www.sharonburkert.com   Criss Cross tutorial www.sharonburkert.com

3. Cut a 4-1/4" x 6" piece of card stock and with the 6" side at the top, score at 1/2".

4. Cut a diagonal starting at the 1/2" score line. (see photo below)

Criss Cross card tutorial www.sharonburkert.com

5. Cut away part of the top of the 1/2"seam.  This will hide some of the seam when you join the two pieces together. (see photo below)

Criss Cross card tutorial www.sharonburkert.com

6.  Apply Tear and Tape or Tombow Liquid Glue to the 1/2" seam and attach it to the other piece.

Criss Cross tutorial www.sharonburkert.com

7. Cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP(patterned paper).  Cut it on the diagonal.  Repeat with a coordinating pattern of DSP.  Attach it to the outside of the 2 flaps (triangle pieces).  You can use the 2 remaining pieces on another criss cross card.

8.  Use a thin line of glue along the edge of the flap and fold to adhere to the center piece.  Repeat on the other flap.

Criss Cross card tutorial www.sharonburkert.com

Card Insert

Cut a piece of card stock 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" (base).  Cut a layer 4" x 5-1/4" and adhere to the base to create a card insert.  Y0u may need to fiddle a little with these measurements depending on how close to the edge you glued the flaps down.  Now you can decorate the front and insert!

Let me know if there is anything that is confusing and I will try and help.  Thank you for stopping by and if you need any supplies to make your own criss cross card please let me know or go to my online store.  Thank you!

Swirly Bird and the Pop of Pink DSP

I am patiently waiting for my first order from the new catalog to arrive.  Okay, maybe not so patiently.  In the meantime I am really enjoying the Swirly Bird stamp set,  Swirly Scribbles thinlits and the Pop of Pink Specialty DSP.

Swirly Bird Pop of Pink sliding easel

The Pop of Pink DSP has 2 designs that feature gold foil.  This pack of patterned paper is a must.  The patterns are classics and the color combination of Black, White, and Melon Mambo is fun and striking.

Fun Fold Friday: Lighthearted Leaves and the One Flap Easel

It is really feeling like fall both in my stamp room and outside.   The days are getting shorter (boo) and the leaves are starting to turn color.

I may have gone a little crazy with the Lighthearted Leaves set in the Holiday Catalog.  You will be seeing a lot of them in the next few days!

I have shared this fold before and here is the link to a tutorial.  Did you notice something different about the embossing?  Hopefully you can see it better in this picture.

Lighthearted Leaves one arm easel side

I made a custom mix of the Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and the Gold Stampin' Glitter to add a little sparkle  to the leaf design.  Unfortunately I did not measure the ratio very carefully but I would start with  1 part embossing powder to one part glitter.  You can add more powder or glitter until you are happy with the mix.  If you need supplies to make your own custom embossing powder or fall leaves  here's a link to my online store.

Fun Fold Friday: All About the Wild About Flowers Re-do

I have received lots of questions about how to make this card, so today we are going to make it together.

You will need:

Card Base: 4-1/4" x 7-1/4" and 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" (bottom piece).  Score the larger piece at 5-1/2".

DSP: 1-3/4" x 4" and 2-1/4" x 4" (I used 2 different patterns from the Pretty Petals DSP stack)

Inside of the card: 4" x 5-1/4"

Front panel: 2-1/4" x 3 -3/4"(same color as the card base), 2" x 3-1/2"(same as the inside of the card)

1. Attach the DSP to the top and bottom pieces.

2. Stamp the flowers on the 2" x 3-1/2" piece.  Wrap a ribbon around and tie a knot.  Layer on the 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" piece.

3. Position the bottom piece (2-1/2" x 4-1/4") on the card base.  Take care to line up the edges.  Put Stampin' Dimensionals on the 4 corners of the stamped piece and attach it to the top of the card and the bottom.  This is what holds the card together.

FFF Midriff card 2 FFF midriff card

4. Using a pencil lightly mark the area you will stamp the sentiment.  You can see where I marked it in the photo above.  This will help you to know where to stamp.

5.  Stamp the sentiment.  Erase the pencil marks and you are done.

Fff midriff card 3

I hope this will help you make your own card.  I made another sample of this style of card and will post it on my Facebook page.  I hope this tutorial helps and if you make one send me a link so I can see what you made!
