Back to Stamping!
September 02, 2009
It feels great to be back in my stamp room! It has been a while since I have stamped, okay maybe just a week and a half. I was on vacation and met up with friends that I have not seen in quite a while. That was a lot of fun and darn it they all looked fabulous! The boys picked me up and we headed down to California to take my son back to college. It was a great road trip but I could have done without the part when our son dropped us off at the airport. If you know me, you know I was crying as he drove off.
When I got into my stamp room I planned to ink up those stamps from the Holiday mini that went LIVE yesterday! (There has been a delay in the mailing of some of the minis so if you do not receive one from me by next week please let me know. If you want to see all the Holiday Mini goodness take a look on the left hand side of the blog and you should be able to click it and see it. ) Instead I saw these frames that I purchased a while ago at the Dollar Store for some long forgotten project and decided to start my fall decorations.
These frames came 6 to a package and are made of paper and foamcore. I sponged on some Pumpkin Pie classic ink and some black around the edges to make it a little more spooky. I used some SU chipboard letters and inked them up in Black Craft ink. I then dipped them in Heat and Stick powder and heated them with the heat gun.
Let me refresh your memory about how Heat and Stick works. Heat and stick powder is an adhesive that becomes sticky when you heat it. The part you need to be careful of is that you do not heat the powder too much. You want to heat it only until you see the powder melt. If you heat it too long it will no longer be sticky. Of course if you do not heat it enough to melt the powder it won't be sticky and will just brush off. Once you have melted the powder you can dip it into whatever you want to adhere. In this project I used the Black Chunky Essentials glitter. Once I applied the glitter I heated it again which seals the glitter to the Heat and Stick. I then attached the frames to the gorgeous Pumpkin Pie 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain.
Here's a close up of one of the letters.
