December 2010

Happy New Year!

We worked really hard to get almost all  of the boxes unpacked so we can start the new year off right.   Jim's car is in the garage so no more frozen doors.

Thank you for a great year and your friendship.  Wishing you good health, good friends and lots of good times in 2011!

Nature Walk

This morning it is pretty cold and icy here, in fact when Jim left for work this morning his car door was frozen shut!  I guess i really have to work on getting the garage cleaned up so he can park in the garage.

One of the things I did last week was put up bird feeders.  I used to have one that was outside my stamp room window and I enjoyed  watching the birds while I stamped.  My stamp room is now  upstairs so now I get to watch the birds from the kitchen.  Where am i going with this and what does it have to do with Nature Walk?  Well, Nature Walk is the name of a new stamp set that will be in the Occasions mini catalog that will debut on January 4th!   In the set is a great bird image, see how it all ties together?   Here are 2 cards featuring this set and the lovely bird.

This lovely card was stamped by Mary Hall.  Now, I have my own blue bird of happiness!

Isn't it great how she used 2 different shapes of punches for her label?  I am going to have to try that.

It is time for me to attack the boxes.  Remember the Holiday mini catalog ends on January 3rd.  If you need anything from that mini you can always go to my online store or email/call me.

We've Got Light!

I hope your Christmas was a good one!  We had a nice cozy family time and yes, Santa Jim brought light to my dark stamp room!  Things are definitely taking shape.  Here's the strange thing, I have been wanting to sit down and get back to stamping since we left our house in Spokane and now that I can I have been having a difficult time sitting down and focusing.  I look around and i see so much that needs to be done and it makes it  hard to concentrate.

Luckily I have a few cards from a card swap I am in that I can share with you until I  get over my lack of stamping focus.

This card is a great example of the products that are in the Filled with Love promotion that is going on until 1/24/11.  Look on the left hand column and you can see all the details of this promotion by clicking on the picture.  You know it is not too early to start on your Valentine's Day cards and gifts!  Yes, I will take my own advice and get started on them too!

Merry Christmas

We won't be opening any moving boxes tomorrow BUT I hear Santa Jim is going to install some new lights in my stamp room so I can actually stamp in there.  I can hardly wait!

Merry Christmas!  Wishing you and yours a wonderful day!

Moving Day!

Today we are moving in to our new( new to us that is)  house.  The movers are here and it is chaotic!  In addition to the furniture, drawers  and paper racks I have 70+ boxes devoted just to my craft room.  Not sure how I am going to get it all in a standard size bedroom!  A couple of the guys who packed up the house are also unpacking the truck and they are shaking their heads about where all the crafting stuff is going to go.  One guy suggested that I should take over the garage, I like how he thinks especially since it is a 3 car garage!

So, what have I been doing since i last blogged?  About 3 weeks ago  we  moved out of our house in Spokane and into a 2 bedroom apartment.  It was a fun urban experience since we were in downtown Seattle.   From our apartment you could see part of the Macy's star, the Olympics, and a glimpse of the Sound.  It was so easy to walk downtown and shop and enjoy all the Christmas decorations and festivities.

I tried to stamp a few times while in the apartment and the combination of poor lighting, very limited space and poor packing made it really difficult.    I know I had a plan when I packed my stamping stuff but  what made me think that I would remember the plan  and seriously who doesn't pack some Real Red cardstock?  Don't get me started on how slow the internet was in the apartment.

I am hoping to get at least a few craft room  boxes unpacked and some stamping done in the next day or 2 so bear with me!  Have a fabulous day and wish me luck as I battle the boxes!

Jolly Holiday Quilt

Wouldn't you just love to have a quilt that looked like this one?

This is one of the cards I received in a monthly card swap I participate in.  Rhea Hughes is the creator of this cute  top note quilt.    Here's what she used to  make her quilt.
Stamps:  Word Play
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, and Jolly Holiday DSP (designer series paper).
Ink : Cherry Cobbler
Punches:  Scallop edge border, 2 3/8" Scallop circle , 1 3/4" circle punch, 1 1/4" square punch
Big Shot:  Top Note die
Extras: Vanilla satin ribbon and Basic Pearls

Here's how she made the quilt.  She punched out 12  1 -1/4" squares.  She glued them on to a piece of cardstock and then cut it with the Top Note die and Big Shot.  That's the easiest quilt you'll ever make.  Rhea also dyed the pearls so they were Cherry Cobbler.  Squeeze a few drops of Cherry Cobbler reinker onto a plate, brush some of the reinker over the pearls and then sprinkle clear embossing powder over the pearl and heat with a heat gun.  Now you have colored pearls!  Lots of fun tricks were used to make this card and now you know them too!

If you need anything for Christmas please let me know or place the order online  before December 15th.  That is the day SU is recommending to insure delivery by Christmas.
