Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope your day will be a sweet one!

I made a bunch of these cards but did not think about taking a picture until the very end!  Sorry the lighting is not very good.

Quick thought for the Day

Just stopping in for a quick post.  I had this idea in my head so I quickly made this little 3 x 3 card.

001 copy
Not sure what was up the colors but in real life the button is Melon Mambo!

Stamps:  Sweet Summer and Great Friend
Ink:  Black Stazon and Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, and Certainly Celery Stampin Write markers
Paper:  Whisper White
Extras:  Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and Melon Mambo buttons from Sweet Stitches Big Buttons in the Occasions mini catalog, and Daffodil Delight pompom trim.
Have a great time today with a good friend!

Clearly for You

I have been busy getting things done and almost forgot that I said I was going to post a card sample.  It is a good thing that it was an absolutely gorgeous day here and there was still enough light out to take a picture.    It was also lucky that last night I decided I needed to finish this card project that was a make and take at the SU Leadership meeting that I attended last month.  This is not exactly like the project but pretty close.

003 copy
Stamps:  Clearly for You
Ink:  VersaMark, Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Old Olive
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, More Mustard, Old Olive
Big Shot: Fun Flowers Bigz die in the Occasions mini catalog
Punches"  1" circle, small oval, 2 1/2" circle
Extras: Old Olive taffeta ribbon, Crimper, linen thread, distressing kit

One thing that I thought was very clever was we crimped half of the card front.  Using a VersaMark pad we ran it along the ridges of the crimped lines.  This made the ridges stand out more and gave it more depth.  I like how this turned out.

Have a great evening and I will be back with more samples.  Call or email me if you have any questions or want to place an order!

My Digital Studio catalog

Check out the new My Digital Studio (MDS) catalog located on the left hand column of this blog.  It includes all the downloads from the launch of MDS in October 2009 through January 2011.  You will be able to see the artwork and  details of the entire product line.   This catalog will be updated monthly with the new downloads that are being released.   What a great resource!  Check it out!

I will be back later on today with a new project post.  See you then!

Sweet Summer in Poppy Parade

Clever title huh?  Not!   I decided instead of staring blankly into the computer screen waiting for some kind of inspiration to hit me I would just title things and move on.

Here's another take on the Sweet Summer stamp set.  I really like the swirly stamp with the leaves and berries.  It is pretty forgiving so even if you don't connect them perfectly, it stll looks good.  Besides you can always cover up with a flower or some other embellishment.  I guess I gave away why my flowers are placed where they are!

I stamped this yesterday and did the paper piecing of the flowers but really did not know how I was going to finish it.  This morning I pulled out my scrap bag of Poppy Parade and in there were these leftover ric rac strips and the fun polka dots from the In Color Designer Series Paper Pack which is a level 1 hostess gift choice.  In no time my card was done.  Don't you love it when that happens?  The thing that took me the longest was cutting out the little bird.

002 copy
Stamps:  Sweet Summer (Sale-A-Bration set) and You're a Gem (Occasions mini catalog)

It is a beautiful sunny day here, almost makes you think of summer until you go outside cause it is still chilly!   Have a great one and if you dcide you need some Sweet Summer in your stamp room give me a call or email me and we'll get you fixed up!

Sweet Summer Sale-A-Bration set

You know it happens to me all the time.  I look at a set and think I don't need that and then once I play with it I am smitten.  That is certainly the case with the Sale-A-Bration set,  Sweet Summer.  It seems like I have gotten away from  sets that require coloring which is  strange  since I find it relaxing to sit and color.

Here are a couple of samples using Sweet Summer.

Did you notice that both samples used Not Quite Navy cardstock?  It  is not a color I use very often.    I have been challenged by Lisa (you know who you are!) to embrace the color!  I am working on it and am beginning to feel the the Not Quite Navy love.

I will have more samples from this set so check back soon.  If you want to order your own set go to my online store or email me and with a $50 merchandise order you will be able to receive this set FREE!

My New Quilt

I have something really incredible to share with you.  I just received this in the mail from the card swap group I belong to.  The person who made this is Kimberly Allen and I am in awe of her.  I think I have shared some of her creations with you before.  This  little gem of Kimberly's is well spectacular and I only hope the picture I took will show you some of the incredible detail, patience and talent that went into its creation.  Ready?

002 copy

Amazing huh?  I am not exactly sure how she made all the little quilt squares.  I can tell you what products she used but beyond that I would be guessing.    All I can say is that it looks like  a beautiful antique quilt and it is going in a frame!

Here's what she used or my best guesses:

Stamps:  Sew Suite (Occasion mini)
Ink:  Basic Black
Paper:  Rose Red,  Pear Pizzaz, Basic Black, Sprintime Vintage (Occasions mini)
Big Shot:  Square lattice TIEF, Sweet Buttons embosslit
Embellishments:   Rose Red seam binding ribbon (Occasions mini)

Contact me or go to my online store if you would like to buy the supplies to make your own quilt.   Gotta go and find a frame worthy of this little piece of art.  Thanks Kimberly, you are amazing!

Build a Blossom and Blossom Petals punch

Where has the last week gone?  I cannot believe I have not posted in a week.  Once again a friend asked me if I was okay since I had not posted in a while.   I have been  stamping and feel like I am getting back in the groove.  Thanks for your concern.

I have been playing with the Build a Blossom set and Blossom Petals punch.  This dynamic duo is featured on page 12 of the Stampin'Up! Occasions mini.  I will admit that when I first saw this I was not sure if I really needed another flower set and punch.  Well, I am here to tell you I am so glad I have both of them and I know I have just scratched the surface of ways to use then.  What I like is that it makes a blossoms in a range of sizes.  I have really only played with the largest petal and punch and I am hooked!

Here is a bag I decorated using the large petals.

005 copy
Isn't it so pretty?  I needed a bag to wrap a gift I was giving and this is what I came up with.  I cannot show you the gift yet but check back this weeked and i will show you both.
Here's what I used:

Stamps:  Build a Blossom
Ink Cherry Cobbler
PaperBasic Black, Riding Hood Red and Newsprint DSP
Big Shot:  Tasteful Trim die (this is still available for purchase)
Pretties:  Chunky Black glitter and  1 1/4" striped black grosgrain.

I used the Color Coach to pick the color combination of the petals.  Cherry Cobbler ink on Riding Hood Red cardstock, who knew it would look so good?  I guess that is why I have the Color Coach.

This is also the first time I have done the ribbon ruching.  It was really easy to do.  I adhered a strip of Sticky Strip on the DSP.  I laid some ribbon down and just gathered it and stuck it down to the sticky strip.  It really adds, don't you think?  Super simple or as Jody would say "cinchy!"

I am going to play some  more with the set and punch and will of course share, so you can make the decision  if you need it too!
