Best of Everything Little Notes

Yesterday I was out running errands and stopped in at a coffee shop to relax before tackling the rest of my errands.  I have been having some shoulder issues  and was rubbing my shoulders when a woman asked me if she could  give me a shoulder massage.  I was tongue tied and did not know what to say.  She started in and oh my goodness it felt so good!  She had  noticed me rubbing  my shoulder and wanted to help me. Wasn't that so kind of her?    She told me that she would be around for a few more minutes and if I wanted her to massage my shoulder again before she left she would be happy to do so.  I thanked her and wanted to do something else to show my appreciation.   The line was too long to get a gift card before she left and then i remembered that I had some cards (still working on July birthday cards!)  .  I quickly found them and luckily I had envelopes too.  She stopped by before leaving and asked me how I was doing.  I thanked her again and gave her the cards and envelopes.  She was so happy and gave me a hug. We both went on our way and hopefully we both left feeling a little better and appreciated.

This act of kindness started me thinking and I decided to make some small notecards to have on hand.  These cards are not fancy and did not take long to make and you know I have the supplies already!

  Best of Everything 3 x 3
I am working on a box that will hold these little cards and envelopes.   Just a little something to say thank you or to brighten someone's day.  I will share the box when I get it done.

Thanks for stopping by!  Leave me a comment and tell me what random act of kindness happened to you today?

Best of Everything Thank You

I am excited to share with you ths card. Why?  Well, it is the first time I have ever sewn on a card.  I have always liked the way stitiching looks on cards but it always seemed like too much trouble to go and dig out my sewing machine and get it set up.  In my new craft /stamp room I have my sewing machine all set up so I decided today was the day.  You know it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Best of Everything thank you

Here's what I used to make this card.
Stamps: Curly Cute and Best of Everything
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist, More Mustard and Old Olive markers, Chocolate Chip Classic pad
Paper:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Red Glimmer paper
Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dot TIEF, Square Lattice TIEF,Bigz Clear Circle die
Punches: Heart from the Owl punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack
(BOLD/ITALICIZED new to 2011-2012 SU IB&C)

This card is my thank you card for  orders placed in July through my online store.  If you would like to place an online order go to my SU website and click on the Shop Now button.  If you have any questions please contact me.  Thank you and see you tomorrow!

Sweets for the Sweet Flowers

Put on your shades cause these flowers are bright!  I got the idea to use this stamp from the  Sweets for the Sweet stamp set to make a flower from the display boards on the SU! Alaska cruise.   I thought it was a fun and clever way to use the stamp.  This card definitely looks like summer!

Sweets for the Sweet flowers

Usually I tell people to stamp first and then punch but in this situation it is much easier to punch the Fancy Flower punch first and then stamp.

Supplies
Stamps: Sweets for the Sweet, Build a Blossom, Happy Greetings
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Peach Parfait, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Peach Parfait, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
Punches: Fancy Flower, 1 " circle, Blossom Petals Builder
Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dot TIEF
Extras:  Wire for the flower stems, Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon (retired-sorry), Crystal Effects
(Bold and Italicized 2011-2012 SU Catalog, Bold in the Summer Mini Catalog)

I used wire for the stems of the flowers so they would move, just like real flowers.  Thought it would be a fun touch.  I put Crystal Effects on the Daffodil Delight flower centers and it unfortunately masked some of the details of the stamp  (spiral) I used that is also from the Sweets for the Sweet set.

The Sweets for the Sweet stamp set is a fun new set and I hope you enjoyed another look at how versatile it is.  Check out this post for more ways to use this  stamp set!

Stripes!

Have you noticed  that there are some new Textured Impressions Embossing Folders( TIEF)  in the new catalog?  I think TIEF are fantastic and add so much with so little effort.  I just received the Stripes TIEF and wanted to try the double embossing technique.  I brayered  VersaMark ink directly  on one side of  the  TIEF and then placed the cardstock in the folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  I sprinkled on some Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heated it with the heat gun.  Iridescent Ice embossing powder is clear embossing powder with Dazzling Diamonds glitter mixed in.

Pink stripe

What do you think?  It is hard to see the shine and glitter from the Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder in this picture.  I love how it looks and will be using this technique again soon.

Here's what I used to make this card.
Stamps Curly Cute
Ink: VersaMark and Early Espresso
Paper: Pink Pirouette,  Very Vanilla,  Chocolate Chip, First Edition DSP
Big Shot: Stripes TIEF, Perfect Polka Dot TIEF, Fun Flowers die
Ribbon:  Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon
Extras: Neutrals Glimmer Brad, Irisdescent Ice EP, Heat Gun,

Grab your TIEF and try heat enbossing your dry embossing!  If you need any supplies go to my Online Store or contact me and we will get you fixed up!

Home Again

I am back in my stamp room after being gone for a week,  We spent the long weekend in Chicago helping our son get moved into his first apartment.  We spent a lot of time shopping, unpacking and running things up to his apartment.  Did I mention that  his apartment is  is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator!  We certainly got some exercise. It was a great trip and we were  happy to be able to help him get settled in to his new place.

While I was gone a lot has been happening in the SU world .  In addition to a new catalog SU is offering a limited time offer of a   $99 Starter kit.  I will post more about this great opportunity but  if you have ever thought about becoming a demonstrator this might be the perfect time to do it.   I will be updating my blog with the information but if you have any questions about becoming a SU demonstrator please contact me and I would be happy to answer your questions.

Since I have been gone I don't have much of my own to share with you.  Luckily I have some cards from the monthly swap group I belong to that I can share .Rhea swap june2011 mary

This gorgeous card is stamped by Mary Ammar.  Mary used the new hostess set Simply Soft.  Love it!   She combined Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzaz, Basic Black and Whisper White.  I love this color combination.  Do you see the cool new punch?  It is called the Lace Ribbon Border and you will be seeing a lot more of it cause it is a beauty.  Thanks for the wonderful card Mary.

  Rhea swap june2011kimberly

Here's another beauty from Kimberly Allen.  I love the color combination here.  She used Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, and Pool Party.  Kimberly also used the Fancy Fan letterpress plate and the white lacy layer around the flower image is from the Flirtatious Specialty DSP.   The doily laser cut design is colored on one side and white on the other, very clever.  Thank you Kimberly!

Thank you for checking in and I will be back tomorrow with more stamping ideas!

Best of Everything and In Colors too!

The In Colors this year sound like Summer;  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral and Wisteria Wonder.  These happy colors will help  to bring back all the warmth of a  tropical island even in the middle of winter.   They fit in so well with the other collections and it is going to be  fun seeing all the  color combinations everyone comes up with.  One of the tools I rely on is the Color Coach.  I refer to the Color Coach and always see new color combinations that I never would have thought of myself.  In the new catalog on page 174 you can order the cards for the 2011-2013 In Colors. It is a must!

Queen for a Day?

I was happy to see that the You're a Gem set is in the 2011-2012 SU Idea Book and Catalog.  When I first saw the You're a Gem stamp set in the Holiday mini catalog I really liked all the sayings but was unsure about the Queen for a Day saying.  Why?  Well, in  my mind you should be treated like a queen all the time not just for the day.  Hmmm.

Flirtatious DSP You're a Gem

After I finished the front of this pocket card I knew just what I had to do to correct the situation.

Flirtatious DSP You're a Gem inside
Just a little markering and the addition of  another saying from the You're a Gem set and now it makes way more sense!

Don't you love the scallop behind the Queen for a Day?  This is a new die for the Big Shot called Perfect Pennants.  There are 2 great medallions on this die and 3 different sizes of pennants.  Winner!  The 1 3/4" circle punch layers perfectly in this scallop and if you look closely you will see that I stamped one of the doilies from the Delicate Doilies set.  The beautiful paper with the doily design is called the Flirtatious Specialty DSP.  You will be seeing a lot more of that paper, it is gorgeous.

Supplies:
Stamps: You're a Gem. Delicate Doilies, Tiny Tags (crown)
Ink: Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, VersaMark
Paper:  Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Whisper Whtie, Brights DSP pack, Flirtatious Specialty DSP
Big Shot: Perfect Pennants
Punches: Round Tab punch, 1-3/4" circle punch
Extras: Gold embossing powder

If you need to let the people in your life know that you are a  Queen 4  Ever you can order the stamp set online through my WEBSITE or contact me with your royal decree!
