Bright Blossoms and Summer Smooches Long Note

Do you remember Long Notes?  I think that was what they were called.   I am not sure how long ago  they were sold but I happened to find some in my envelope stash and I knew it would work great with the card I was working on.  I remember they came in at least 3 colors and the one I had was Sahara Sand.

Bright Blossoms 4 square

Good thing I am a pack rat cause this turned out to be the perfect card base for this card.  I will confess that it  almost hurt to use such a big chunk of the Summer Smooches DSP until I remembered I have more on the way!  Yes, I adore the paper and how happy it is.  The stamp set Bright Blossoms and the Summer Smooches DSP will be available in the new catalog due out in June and it is also available for purchase this month.  If you do not purchase it this month you will have to wait until June so don't wait.

Here's what I used.
Stamps: Bright Blossoms and  Up, Up & Away( the sentiments fit just perfectly)
Ink: Real Red, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Sahara Sand, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Summer Smooches DSP
Punches: 1 1/4" Square punch, 1/2" circle
Ribbon: Daffodil Delight Seam Binding ribbon(available this month and then in June)
Extras: Brights Brads, Basic Rhinestone, Dazzling Details

I will be posting another card using the Summer Smooches DSP and the  Bright Blossoms stamp set to my Facebook page.  Did you even know that I have a Facebook page?  I need to pretty it up now that the timeline is here but go an check it out and "like it", if you do!

Simply Soft and Twitterpated

Simply Soft is one of my all time favorite Hostess sets.  I  have not used it in a while but I am revisiting some of the sets that I know will be retiring.  Stampin' Up is changing things up and the current catalog will be retiring a month early and the stamp set retirement list will be out on April 15th and the accesories retirement list will be out on April 25th.   I will have those lists on the blog when they are published but I just wanted to give you a heads up!

Simply soft basic gray twiterpated

Don't ya just love the Basic Gray and Lucky Limeade Pear Pizzaz  together with the pops of Riding Hood Red?    The striped paper is from the  Twitterpated DSP from the Occasions Mini Catalog .   You know I was going for a masculine card but got sidetracked.  I will probably try again because I need to send some manly type cards out soon.

Here's the complete list of what I used.
Stamps: Simply Soft and Pennant Parade
Ink: Black Stazon, Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade Pear Pizzaz
Paper: Basic Gray, Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade Pear Pizzaz, Watercolor Paper, Twitterpated DSP
Big Shot: Tasteful Trim, Stripes TIEF
Punches: 2 1/2" Circle punch
Extras: 3/8" Basic Black Taffeta ribbon, Circle Cutter, Blender pen , Dazzling Details

Are you interested in me listing the sizes of the paper or not?  I never know how much detail to provide.  Is more information better?  Let me know what you think.  Thanks!

***Ooops!  I was cleaning up my table and realized it was not Lucky Limeade but Pear Pizzaz!  I think I corrected all the errors.  Pear Pizzaz is one of the In Colors that will be retiring so.....

Fifth Avenue Floral in Poppy Parade

Good Monday Morning!  Hope your Easter was a beautiful one.  I sure had fun decorating my eggs to look like proper gentlemen, quite a handsome group.

Today I am sharing with you a card that qualifies as a Mailable Monday card.  I have gotten away from doing this but after my last trip to the Post Office I decided that it might be a good idea to occasionally make a card that does not require so much extra postage.

I will confess that I tried to add ribbon to this card but I just could not figure out how to make it look right which is a good thing since it now lays  pretty flat.

Ink: Black Stazon, Blender pen, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Poppy Parade, Shimmery White, Watercolor paper
Punches: Bird Builder punch

That's An Eggcellent Mustache!

It has been a busy week with lots of "maintenance"  activities.  Yesterday I finally went and got my hair  cut and returned to its original color, no more gray highlights for me!   While i was out I ran into a beautiful scrapbook store called Paper Muse.  It is very elegant and definitely has a vintage vibe.  While there I saw this little package of paper mustaches, hats, and monocles and she had decorated an egg with them.   It totally made me smile so I had to buy them.  I failed to take a picture of her egg so I had to recreate it at home.

Paper muse egg

Isn't he great?  I cannot remember what she had him sitting on but I decided to add the collar and bow tie.   Okay, I think you know where this is headed.  I realized that I could make all the pieces with my punches and stamps.  Do you want to see what I came up with?  Here goes!

Egg with many moustachesMustache made with Many Mustaches a la carte stamp.  You have 4 different mustaches on 1 stamp!
Egg with bird punch

Mustache made with the Bird Builder punch.  It is amazing how many uses this punch has!

Egg with Curly label punch

Mustache made with Curly Label punch

Egg with heart punch

Mustache made with the  Full Heart punch.

Once I started punching I started seeing mustaches everywhere!  Okay, that sounds a little scary.   Here are some quick pictures to show you how I made the hat,  collar, bow tie and mustaches.

Egg hat
Word Window punch and 1 1/4" circle punch

Egg collar
1" ( width) strip of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut a 3/8" slit and fold back at an angle.  The length of the strip depends on the size of your egg.

Egg bowtie
Smallest heart from the Heart to Heart punch and 1/4" square (this is retired but simple to cut out)

Many moustaches
Many Mustaches A la Carte stamp

Bird punch moustache
2 wings from the Bird Builder punch.

This post is getting really long and I just realized i did not take any pictures of the monocle or the other mustaches.   If you would like me to show those leave me a comment or send me an email and I will post them.

Trio eggs

You still have time to make these so get your punches out!    They are going to look so eggcellent on your Easter table!

Awash with Flowers in Poppy Parade

I survived the visit to the dentist and really it was not bad.  Lunch was great and I was introduced to a new place that has a beautiful view. We will definitely be going back again and hopefully next time it will be better weather.  Okay, on to today's card.  You know I love the whole red, black and white combination.  I have really gotten attached to Poppy Parade and black and I will miss Poppy Parade which is one the In Colors that  will be retiring.   I guess that is my way of warning you that you will be seeing a lot of Poppy Parade in my upcoming blog posts.

Awash in flowers poppy parade

I am still having difficulties getting good pictures so just imagine that you can see that I used the Perfect Polka Dots TIEF on the Basic Black layer.   You can just barely see that I also stamped on the Poppy Parade layer.  I wanted a little something so I tried stamping in VersaMark and it was not enough.  I also tried using Poppy Parade ink and it was better but still not what I wanted.  Black was too much so I tried Basic Gray and it was just right.  Here is the shortcut I used to stamp the random design.

Awash in flowers block

It was way faster than stamping each one individually and I just kept on turning the block so it would look random.  This is definitely something for me to remember when I am using the clear mount stamps, might as well take advantage of this feature.

Stamps: Awash in Flowers, You're My Type (sentiment)
Ink: Black Stazon, Basic Gray,  Poppy Parade Stampin' Write marker, Old Olive Stampin' Write marker, Basic Black Stampin' Write marker
Paper: Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Watercolor paper
Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dot TIEF
Extras: Blender pen, 1/2" Scallop Dot Ribbon in Basic Black

I am not sure if you notice but I bold and italicize products that I use that are in the current mini catalog or are part of a promotion.    This is the last month to order from the Occasions Mini Catalog.   Check your wish lists to be sure you have gotten all those mini catalog goodies.  You never know what will be carried over so don't take the chance.
