For the Birds in a Pocket

I was cleaning up my craft table and found a stash of DSP pockets.  These must have been leftover from when I made this card.    I still had my cute For the Birds set out and I think they are just made for each other.

Here's a close up of the little birds.

Papillon Potpourri

There is nothing quite like a good mail day!  There are so  many ways to communicate with friends and family but I still love getting beautiful mail.  You know the feeling of opening up the mailbox and seeing the usual assortment of junk and hidden among the junk you see an envelope with actual handwriting on it!  You know it is going to be good, no doubt about it.   Here's what was in my mailbox the other day.

Papillion Potpourri Limda M

This was sent to me by Linda Macpherson.  Linda is a SU! demonstrator in Maryland and if you follow my blog you know that I met Linda on a SU trip to the Big Island.   I call her the best souvenir from that trip.   Linda is a big believer in the power of a handmade card.  She not only believes but actually send them too!   Awesome, right?

I will do my best to list all the goodies Linda used to make the card.
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Flowering Flourishes, Just Believe
Ink: Midnight Muse
Paper: Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue,  Daffodil Delight
Punches: Boho Blossoms
Big Shot: Fancy Fan TIEF, Floral Frames Framelits
Extras: Brights and Regals Brads, Crochet Trim-Victoria

I love it and am trying to follow her example and send more cards.  Thanks again Linda!

Pleasant Poppies

Did you know that poppies can be almost any color?  In fact at the Rhododendron Garden in Federal Way, WA you can see blue poppies!  I missed them this year but will be sure to see them next year.  Even knowing that there are many colors of poppies I still  think of them as orangey-reddish, don't you?

Today i bring you Pleasant Poppies in Pretty in Pink and Raspberry Ripple.  Pleasant Poppies is a big background stamp.  In the new Stampin' Up! catalog you can get selected background stamps in the clear-mount option!  I think that is a winner!  Not only is it less expensive but I have a use for block size F!

Stamps: Pleasant Poppies, Blooming with Kindness
Ink: Black Stazon, Pretty in Pink, Raspberry Ripple, Old Olive, Sahara Sand
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple,  Midnight Muse In Color DSP stack, Watercolor paper
Extras: Aqua Painter, Vintage Faceted buttons, Raspberry Ripple 3/8" Stitched Satin ribbon

I wanted you to see the gorgeous faceted buttons.  These are beautiful and really add  some elegance to your projects.  Also the stitched satin ribbon is just so easy to work with and just plain yummy!  I cheated here and tied a bow with the Raspberry Ripple ribbon and attached it to the button with a glue dot.

I stamped the Pleasant Poppies on the inside of the card.  It looks wonderful as a focal point and also as a background.

It is a beaurtiful day and after i go for my walk i will be in the craft room getting ready for a weekend of stamping fun!  I might have to take my paper cutter out to the back porch so I can enjoy the sunshine while I cut paper.  Have a creative day and be sure to tell me about it!

Happy Father's Day and Serene Silhouettes

I stamped this card last week and was not sure I liked it so I slept on it.  No, i did not put it under my pillow but waited to look at in  the morning with fresh eyes.  Well, after 2 more sleep on its I am still not sure but if I don't share it today I will have to wait a year.  So here goes!

Serene Silhouettes

Love this stamp set, Serene Silhouettes!  Not only does it have gorgeous images but I now know how to spell silhouettes!  Seriously, I knew this set was coming to my house.  I wanted the first card with this set to be something simple and clean and I hope I accomplished that.

Serene Silhouettes vanilla,gray,red full

I am going to date myself and share the "voices" that were singng in my brain when I stamped this...I stamped once, twice, three times the image and I love you... Okay I hope my singing did not scare you and that you caught the reference.  Before I embarrass myself further here are the supplies I used.

Stamps: Serene Silhouettes and Blooming with Kindness
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Real Red
Big Shot: Fancy Fan TIEF (I am SO happy this is an embossing folder!)
Punches: 1 1/4" square punch

Now that I have embarrassed myself by sharing my singing and the songs that roll around in my head I best end this post!  Wait, did you notice I changed the look of the blog?  What do you think?  Good change, too much, let me know or I might have to sing again.

For the Birds

This sweet stamp set, For the Birds was one of the first sets  I knew I had to have.   Those little birds and all those sayings just spoke to me.   I felt like I needed a set that was fun and easy to color and could be used for lots of different occasions.  Back in the day that set was Nice and Easy Notes and more recently Easy Events and this year I am choosing For the Birds.   I am still trying to decide if I want to trim the sentiments  and have them seperate from the image.  What do you think?

If the layout and elements look familiar it is pretty much the same as yesterday's post.  I had the DSP strips already cut and so I decided to just go with it.

Little Friends, Again

If you have "liked" my Facebook page you know that I chased down the UPS truck and now have some new stamping supplies in the house.  So, you might be wondering why I am featuring the Little Friends set again instead of something new.  I decided that I needed to finish up coloring all the images in the set, no more uninked stamps for me! I will say that the Little Friends set has grown on me and I am glad that I decided to give it a try.  It is a fun set to color and great practice.  Now I know some of you are thinking that there are 3 main images and so where is the  one of the 2 little girls?  I posted that sample on my Facebook page.

Little Friends boy
