Out On a Limb with the Owl Punch

I have not played with the Owl Builder punch in a while.  I decided I needed to pull it out after seeing this blog post.  I knew that I could recreate what she had done using my Stampin Up! products.

I punched the owl and then cut around it leaving about 1/4"around the owl.  I attached the owl to the layer just around the head area.

I cut a slit along the branch and slipped the the owl into the slit.

The card is held closed by the cute 1 1/4" scallop punch.

Scentsational Season and the Festival of Prints

Recently I went to a fun gathering of SU demonstrators, one thing about SU demostrators they love to get together ,share ideas and of course, stamp!  We all brought a "shoebox" project.  The card I am sharing today is from a shoebox shared by Mary.   I love the use of the Festival of Prints DSP pack  and the adorable Scentsational Season stamp set.  Thanks Mary for the super cute card!

Scentsational Season 1

The basic layout is what Mary designed and all I added was the little tag in the front.  Does the tag shape look familiar?

Scentsational Season tag 1

Have you figured it out?  You are so smart!  It is the mug shape from the Holiday Collection framelits die.   Just another way to use those cute framelits.  When you purchase the Scentsational Season stamp set and the Holiday Collection Framelits together you will save 15%!

Stamps: Scentsational Season, Petite Pairs
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Soft Suede
Paper: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Festival of Prints DSP
Big Shot: Holiday Collection Framelits
Extras: Silver Dazzling Details, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon

Remember to say "Bundle it Up" and save 15% and besides what would the Scentsational Season stamp set be without the Holiday Collection Framelits?  That would be like Kanga without Roo, Starsky without Hutch, , and me without you!

Googly Ghouls Valentine card?

I know, I can feel your eyes rolling at the very idea of Valentine's Day!  The only reason I even dare mention this is in case you are on the fence about purchasing the Googly Ghouls stamp set.  If you are like me I am always thinking about how I can use the stamps I have for other occasions.  I wanted the Googly Ghouls set and so I needed to figure out ways to use it other than  just for Halloween.   After some brainstorming this is one of the ideas I came up with.  Hope you like it!

Festival of Prints DSP

Did you notice the Festival of Prints DSP Stack on page 20 of the Stampin' Up Holiday catalog?  I love this little stack of paper.  There are 48 sheets in the stack: 4 eqach of 12 double sided designs.  Each sheet is 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".    This turns out to be a pretty convenient size for both card making and mounting your photos for scrapbooks.  I also like having a lot of design choices within the same color palette.

Comfort Cafe DSP and a Challenge

Did you miss me?  I feel badly that I said I was going to be a more  consistent blogger and then promptly went silent.  The past week was a good example of life happening and just having to  accept and doing what needs to be done.

I have been away from my stamp room and to get back into the stamping and blogging groove I decided to do a challenge.   This is the challenge I chose.   Here is the sketch by Mary Jo aka Technostamper.

Mary Jo's sketches are  very clean layouts and I really like that.  Here is what I came up with using the sketch.

Stippled Blossoms Birthday

Stippled Blossoms houndstoothbow

Did you know that there was an Early Espresso ribbon with  Pretty in Pink stitching?  Pretty cool huh?  Well, I actually colored in the white stitching with a Pretty in Pink marker and Voila a custom ribbon!  This is a fun little trick to have in your stamper's tool kit.

Thanks for checking in with me and I will see you tomorrow!  If you have any questions let me know!

CASEing Stampin' Success

Stampin' Success is a monthly magazine Stampin' Up sends their demonstrators and I look forward to receiving my copy every month.   The magazine offers lots of stamping ideas as well as business ideas.  Today's sample was pretty much cased from the Stampin' Success.  I did change the framelit and the stamp set but I loved the color combination and layout so those are  the same as in the magazine.

Papiillon Potpourri and a Color Challenge

Hard to believe that I am posting 2 days in a row!  I am working on posting more consistently and now that most of our summer travels are over it feels possible.  To achieve this I know I will need some inspiration.  I found the Dynamic Duo Challenge  and knew I wanted to participate.  The challenge this week is to use Certainly Celery and Pretty In Pink.  You can also use neutral colors like Black, White, Vanilla,  Crumb Cake aka as kraft.  On my stamp table I had the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit die, Loving Thoughts and Papillion Potpourri stamp sets.    The die is brand new to me which is why it was on my table and the 2 stamp sets were not completely mounted which is why they were on the table.  I started to think about what Designer Series Paper I had that would fit in this challenge and that is how I came to use the Natural Composition Specialty DSP.

Pip & cc card

I love the embossed detail on the Natural Composition Specialty DSP.  The little shine adds a lot!

Here's a closeup of the butterfly.  I wanted a little glitz so I stamped the butterfly on Card Stock Vellum and embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and layered in on the Pretty in Pink butterfly.
