October 2012

It was a dark and cloudy night...

Unfortunately it looks like it will be a dark and rainy Halloween night.  I hope  trick or treaters will come otherwise I have a lot of candy to eat and unfortunately I have no will power.

Wicked cool

Stamps: Wicked Cool
Ink: Black Stazon, Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy, Basic Gray , Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Punches: 3/4" circle

I just realized I did not use the Big Shot on this card, very unusual.  Have a  safe and wonderful Halloween and may your treats be plentiful!

Punch santa 2

No you are not seeing things it is the same card just different patterns of the DSP.  I had leftover cut  pieces of Be of Good Cheer DSP from  the Christmas Crafting event in Spokane (what a fun day!) and did not want to waste them.  This is a easy card and great to use up all those scraps you have been saving.  I will tell you a secret  the Real Red and Silver Glimmer paper strips were not long enough to go the width of the card so Santa is covering up a gap.

One last reminder to look at your catalog and get those stamps that have been on your wish list ordered on Monday, October 29th!

More on Boxed In

I have received some questions about the dimensions of the box I showed you in this post.  I was planning on filming a video to show you how I made the box but here it is almost the end of the day and it has not happened so i decided I better just write it out.

Here is how to make the ends of the box.  You need to cut 2 Window Frame Framelits.  The size I used is size 3 (1 is the smallest sized Window Frame).

TR12 BrianPilling presentation3b

I started with a piece of Vellum card stock 4" x 8".  The box can be any length.  Scored at 1-1/2", 3-3/4", 5-1/4", and 7-1/2".

Box scoring

Hope this helps you with being Boxed In!  Remember it is much easier to stamp BEFORE you assemble the box.

Be sure to check out the Clearance Rack for some great deals!  If you are not on my mailing list be sure to get signed up so you won't miss the rest of the 12 Weeks of Christmas emails.  We are already on Week 4 and it will be  sent out tomorrow afternoon.

Boxed In

I know another silly blog title.  What can I say?  My mind is blanker than usual and I wanted to get this posted for you today.

Last month while at the Stampin' Up! Regional in Tacoma WA one of the presenters, Brian Pilling shared this box with us.  I changed it just a bit and wanted to share it with you.

     Box tacoma reg 2012

The sample Brian made used a window sheet so it was a clear box.  I decided to try it with cardstock vellum.    I inked up the snowflake  stamp from Snow Swirled with Platinum Shimmer Paint to make the silver snowflakes.

Stamps: Snow Swirled
Ink: Platinum Shimmer Paint
Paper: Card Stock Vellum, Brushed Silver paper, Silver Glimmer paper
Punches: 3/4" circle punch
Big Shot:  Snow Flurry Bigz die,  Window Frame framelits, Vintage Wallpaper folder
Extras: White Organza ribbon,  Simply Scored

I changed the closure just a little bit so it was a little easier for me to make and so I could fill it up later with some goodies.  If you need any Stampin' Up!  products you can shop at my online store or contact me and I would be happy to help you!

Snow Much Fun

Don't ya just love snowmen?  I really like the sweet snowmen from Snow Much Fun.  They don't require a lot of coloring to look good and they are a good size.   Lots of impact with not too much work!  My kind of stamping!

Half z fold closed

Stamps: Snow Much Fun, Mixed Medley
Ink: Black Stazon, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Real Red, Basic Gray, Gumball Green, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand , VersaMark
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party , Island Indigo
Punches: 3/4" circle, 1-1/4" Scallop circle
Big Shot: Northern Flurry Folder
Extras: Dazzling Details, Dazzling Details Cherry Cobbler, Iridescent Ice embossing powder

Half z fold closure

Here's a closeup of the card closure.  Do you see the glittery goodness?  Here's what I did.  I stamped in Island Indigo ink and then with VersaMark i inked up the entire image.   Next  I dipped it in Iridescent Ice embossing powder and then heat embossed it.  Easy and glittery !  The rest of the glittering was done with Dazzling Details.  This is going to sound silly but I probably would have never thought about doing this unless I heard it.  Brian Pilling at the Tacoma Regional said he used his finger to spread out the Dazzling Details to cover a larger area.   Yes, it works you just need to wash your hands after.  Along the "snow" line I did just that and I like how it looks!

Half z fold open

Here's another view so you can see how the card opens and the folds.  I am heading to Spokane this weekend and I hope I will get to see some of you at the stamping event we are doing.  It is going to be fun!   So, think no snow in the Pass until we get back!

Ornament Keepsakes

I wanted to make a card with the Ornament Keepsakes set but wanted a little different color combination so I turned to my handy Color Coach and found Rich Razzleberry and Midnight Muse.  I think this just might be a new favorite combinaton.

What are some of your favorite color combinations?  What kind of tools do you use to inspire different color combination?  I would love to know!  Have a Wonderful Wednseday!

Trick or Treat Tuesday

I sure have gotten a lot of stamping fun out of the Googly Ghouls stamp set and Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP.   I especially like the little mummy.  Yes, he is a cutie and also easy to cut out!  I like the other little figures but they take a little longer to cut out.  Today the little mummy is taking his pet spider out for a walk.

What do you think of the crazy combination of DSP?  Sometimes I look at it and it reminds me of when my sonwas little and wanted to choose his own outfit.  You know, the times when you wish you could put a sign on your child saying he dressed himself this morning!

Here's the inside of the card.    You want to see a close up of  what is stamped on the scallop?  Don't you love this web and the little spider?  It is from the Mixed Medley stamp set.

The Mixed Medley stamp set is a hostess set  available until Jaunary 2, 2013.  I love that it coordinates with the 1-1/4" scallop circle punch and that it has 10 stamps!  You will be seeing it used a lot by me over the next few weeks.  If you would like your own Mixed Medley Hostess set I would encourage you to host a Stampin' Up! party or a class.  There is a really great special for hostesses from November until mid-December.  Contact me and we will get it on the calendar.

Flowering Flourishes in Triple Time

I know the Triple Time card is all over the blogsphere so here is my take on the card.  I made this card for my class and it is always is so surprising to learn how easy it is to make.

Flowering FLourishes triple time

Stamps: Flowering Flourishes and Curly Cute
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Basic Black, White, Cherry Cobbler
Punches: Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack
Extras: Rhinestones

It really is a quick and easy card that delivers a lot of impact and you know I love a black and white card!  This is going to be a really short post cause it is not rainng , at least not right this minute.  This is just a momentary sun break between the showers so I need to get outside before it is gone.   Tomorrow I will make it up to you with a long post with lots of pictures!

Just Hanging with the Ghouls

The Ghouls are Back!  This is so not the card I was planning to make.  I even drew a little sketch of what I wanted to make so I wouldn't forget but ended up not following it.  The good thing is that I still have the sketch to use another day.

Googly Ghouls 10-12window

Meet my newest set of sentiments, Seasonal Sayings.  This  set is a little hidden in the Holiday Catalog, you can see it on page 34 of the Holiday catalog.  The set will have you covered from Halloween to Valentine's Day!

Can you see the little white spider webs?  I used a window sheet so you could see through to the inside of the card.  I wanted the sentiment to be a part of the overall design  of the card.  If you are wondering , I used the Apothecary Accents to cut out the frame in the front so it was very easy to do.

Have a Fabulous Friday!  It sounds like we are in for some rainy weather which may mean a lot of crafting!  I do have a lot of paper cutting to do to get ready for the Holiday Crafting event in Spokane, WA  on the 20th.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone and I think you are really going to have fun with the projects!

Trick or Treat Thursday

I have a Toxic Treat for your Trick or Treat Thursday!   This glittery card was stamped by Kimberly Allen.

Toxic Treats

I think someone needs to invent the glitter camera.  It is so difficult to capture the glittery goodness of this card.   If you could get a glitter setting on a digital camera I think it would be a big seller.  Just in case you invent it, be sure and remember who gave you the idea!

Toxic Treatslabel

I think this picture of the label gives you a pretty good idea of how beautiful and glittery this card is.    All the areas that are in black ink are glittery.   I think she used the Black Craft pad and Iridescent Ice embossing powder or Black Craft ink with Heat and Stick powder and then some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Have a wonderful day and don't take any Toxic Treats from anyone unless they are the hand stamped kind!
