Best Thoughts

I am going on the record and saying that this year's Stampin' Up! hostess sets are wonderful!  The first one I want to share with you is Best Thoughts.  Love the big flower and the font is the best.  More sentiments with that font please.

Best Thoughts

I stamped the flower but decided I didn't want to color it so I decided to do some paper piecing.  I stamped and embossed the image on some DSP from the Cherry On Top paper stack.  The 6 x 6 paper stacks in the catalog are wonderful.  I like that there is a subtler pattern on the flip side of a bolder patterned sheet.

Best Thoughts 3

I stamped and embossed the image again and cut out a few flowers to pop up so it wouldn't be so flat.  Next time I am going to use different stacks of Stampin Dimensionals which will make the flowers pop even more.

Best Thoughts 4

The new Brick Wall embossing folder which is 6" x 6", is going to be a "go to" folder.  I love the way it adds texture without stealing the show.  I stamped the sentiment before I used the embossing folder.  Believe me it is MUCH easier to stamp the sentiment before than trying to stamp it after you have embossed.

Best Thoughts 2

These sentiment will be used a lot.  I think it works for lots of different situations.  Are you wondering, how do you get this awesome set?  Since this is a hostess set, you need to either have a qualifying workshop/party or place a qualifying order.  If this sounds like something you would like to do, please contact me and we can work out the details.

Watercolor Wings and a Sketch Challenge

I have been out of my stamp room for over a week and needed a stamping jump start.  One way I do that is to participate in stamping challenges.  I have done  Technostamper's  challenges in the past so I  decided to start with her sketch.

Watercolor Wings & Pretty Petals stack

Here is the Technostamper sketch.

Technostamper sketch 6:25

I was pretty faithful to the sketch except I changed the orientation from portrait to landscape.   I used some of my very favorite new paper, Pretty Petals DSP stack, the gorgeous Watercolor Wings stamp set and the Bold Butterfly framelits.

Watercolor Wings & Pretty Petals DSP 2

This butterfly  is a 3 step stamp.  First I stamped the bold/solid image in Blushing Bride.  The second stamp (defines the outer edges) I inked up in Calypso Coral ink and stamped off once before stamping.  The third image was inked again with Calypso Coral ink and stamped full strength.

Watercolor Wings &Pretty Petals dsp stack 3

I wanted to add a little sparkle to the card so I embossed the butterfly with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  I wonder when there will be a glitter setting on my camera?

CPC Summer Fun Craft Party

Here's another super fun project from Craft Project Central!

Summer Fun Craft Party SP

It’s summer! The kids are out of school and looking for something fun to do, so how about throwing a craft party? Send a cute “Summer Funday”invitation to your children’s friends, create a craft pack with basic supplies for each attendee, and let their imaginations take over. The cute whirly ladybugs are fun and simple to create, and preparation is a snap with the Big Shot and Circles Collection Framelits. The invitation uses simple marker techniques to customize photopolymer stamps. This would also make a fun Kids’ Stamp Camp or class.

CPC By the Tide Gift Ensemble

Here's another fabulous tutorial from Craft Project Central.

By the Tide Gift Ensemble SP

It’s time to welcome summer, and you’re going to need the right packaging for treats and gifts.  With this tutorial, you will make a trio of boxes, learn a quick and easy way to decorate push pop containers that won’t interfere with whatever you choose to fill them, and create a beautiful open-top box with the capacity to hold a lot of treats.  It’s so decorative that you (or whomever you give it to) will want to keep it on display.

This project was designed by Regina Andari.  You can get all the details on this project and more when you subscribe to Craft Project Central for the month of June.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Bold and Bright!

Welcome to the June edition of the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month's theme, Bold and Bright!  The theme could also have been...some of My Favorite Things!   I used 3 new products  from the recently released Stampin' Up! catalog and they are all favorite things of mine.  The ribbon I used is not a new one but it is also qualifies as a favorite thing.

Definitely Dahlia SDBH Side

I love this big, bold dahlia!  Just one stamp and it makes a big statement.  I chose Real Red ink to make it really stand out and well I love black, white and red cards.

Definitely Dahlia SDBH

The strip of black and white paper is from the Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.  I was sad to say goodbye to the Back to Black DSP but am totally over it now that I have the Everyday Chic DSP!   Did you see the new Expressions Natural Elements?  Love these wood veneer words and the font is just perfect.  When you order the  Expressions Natural Elements you will get 15 pieces: 5 each of 3 different designs (Congrats, Celebrate, Thanks)

Definitely Dahlia SDBH close

Can you see that the dahlia has a little glittery shimmer?  My Real Red Classic ink pad is quite juicy so I was able to apply some Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heat emboss it.   You have to work pretty quickly but it is possible.  Love how it looks and wish I could get a better picture of it.
