Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Color Challenge

Blog hop header

Welcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month we are changing it up and doing a Color Challenge!   Here is the color palette we are using.

Sdbloghop march 2016

Did you gasp a little when you saw the colors?  I know I did.  I will be honest this was a tough one for me.   I think any three of these colors would be fine but all five made my head spin a bit.

Remarkable You SDBH 316

I used  Hello Honey as the overall color of the flowers and also used Calypso Coral for the flower on the left  and Blackberry Bliss on the other flower.   I do love how the Blackberry Bliss looks.  The leaves were colored with Old Olive and Lost Lagoon.  This color combination also surprised me and I think it is so pretty and interesting.

WWYS (What Will You Stamp) #55 Balloon Celebration

I am excited to be a guest stamper on the What Will You Stamp blog.   Every week the design team chooses a stamp set to feature and that is the challenge.  I don't always have the stamp set they select but was excited to be able to play along with WWYS #52, which led me to be asked to be a guest stamper this week for challenge WWYS#55 Balloon Celebration.

WWYS #55 Ballon Celebration 1

Are you wondering where are the balloons?  If you look closely you can see the tops of the balloons peeking out of the box.

WWYS #55 Balloon Celebration

Now you can see more of the balloons and the hidden message!  I had a lot of fun figuring this all out but do not have a tutorial for this yet.  I have to make this a few more times before I will have it figured out enough to teach it to someone else.

I do have the measurements for the box: 3" x 7" scored at  -1/2", 2", 5", and 5-1/2". Rotate it and score at 3/4" along one edge.   The box collapses so it can be mailed.  This card is similar to slider cards I shared here and here.

I hope you play along with the design team at the What You Will Stamp Challenge Blog and thank you to the design team for letting me play along!

Birthday Blooms

It has been at least a couple of weeks since I stamped with the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  It seems like it was all I was using so I needed to give it a rest.  When I saw the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #164 I knew it was time to bring it back and play with it.

CAS Colours & Sketches 164

Birthday Blooms with Square frames

First I heat embossed the flower using VersaMark ink and white embossing powder.   I colored in the flowers using an Aqua Painter and Pink Pirouette and Rose Red ink refills.   I fussy cut the flower but made the decision to cut off the parts that are more intricate to make it quicker and easier.  I used the Squares Collection framelits to cut out the squares.  The larger square (square #5, 1 being the smallest square) was cut on the Shimmery White card stock and #4 square on the Pink Pirouette card base.

Pink Pirouette card base: 4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2"

Shimmery White: 4" x 5-1/4" cut 2  (one for the inside of the card and one for the outside), 3" x 4" to stamp and emboss the flower

Beautiful Bunch Flowerpot

Beautiful Bunch flowerpot

Wouldn't these make cute little table favors?  I love these little pots and usually stock up when I see them.  These pots come with a little peat pellet and a packet of seeds.  I simply cover the wrapper with pretty Stampin' Up! designer paper and top it off with a pretty flower.  I think they make the cutest little gifts.

Beautiful Bunch flowerpot2

This color combination of Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, and Wisteria Wonder threw me but I am happy with how this turned out.  I embossed the image on Shimmery White card stock and colored with ink refills and an Aqua Painter.  The sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set, Botanicals for You.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday # 261

I have been having a lot of fun being on the Try Stampin' on Tuesday design team.  Every other week I look forward to the sketch challenge given to us to work on and  the optional theme.

Sketch#261

TSOT # 261

Optional theme is Nothing Floral.    I will admit to you that I felt a momentary panic when i saw those two words...Nothing Floral!  After I calmed down,   I decided to try and embrace the theme as well as the sketch.  Here is what I came up with.

TSOT #261

I did it!  Nothing floral and I think I followed the sketch to a T!   I love my flower stamps but realized that there are so many other possibilities to choose from.   I kept the card very simple so the focus would be on the glimmery butterfly!

TSOT #261 side

I did apply some Crystal Effects on the 1/4" circles of Silver Glimmer  Paper.  I wanted it to have a little more dimension.  The only drawback is that I had to wait for the Crystal Effects to dry before completing my card.

I hope you join us this week and play along with the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge # 261.  I look forward to seeing your creations!

A Quick Drop In

Just dropping by for a quick share and check in.  For the past two weeks we have been having work done on our house.   It has been very noisy and with the shades over the windows down it was like living in a dark, noisy cave.  The work is now finished!   Hooray!  This also means that I have lots to catch up on that I put  off during the days of the dark noisy cave.

This card is basically a CASE from a Stampin' Up! sample with a few changes here and there.

Party Pants Shaker card

The stamp set is a Sale-A-Bration set called Party Pants. The colors I used: Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate and Tangelo Twist.

I am off to tackle a huge list of things I have put off doing.  Wish me luck!

Pedal Pusher Basket of Flowers

Yes, it is true I really adore the new Sale-A-Bration choices!  We used all the new items when we went clubbin' on Sunday.  Don't know what I am talking about?  Check it out here.

Pedal Pusher flower basket

This is  slightly different than what we made on Sunday.  I added the flag on the back, changed the twine color, and put flowers in the basket.  Why?  I thought it was too similar to what I shared before using this set.  At first I was a little unsure about this sentiment.   Now I get it!  It just means I am sending this for no other reason than I was thinking about you.   I will be using it a lot since one of my goals is to send more cards and that includes just saying "hi".

This card is pretty straight forward with the possible exception of the closure.

Pedal Pusher closure

You want to make sure you only put adhesive along the one outside edge .  If you don't, you will not be able to tuck the front edge under it to keep your card closed.

Pedal Pusher closure close

One other thing be sure you do not put adhesive all over the back of the piece your bike is stamped on.  Why?  If you do that you will not be able to open your card.

Pedal Pusher Party Pants inside

You can see the edge needs to be adhesive free so you can see the cute sentiment stamped inside!  Here's what I used to make this card.

Product List

I am going to spend some time digging out my craft table and then making some thank you cards.  I have been including a card kit as part of my thank you notes for online orders.  Can you guess what card the card kit is for?

March online thank you

Pretty simple if you read regularly or follow me on Facebook.   If you need a big hint, check out this post.  Thanks for stopping by!
