April 2016

Amazing Birthday

You have probably heard about the campaign  #imbringingbirthdaysback.  In a nut shell, Shannon West, Demonstrator Training Manager at Stampin' Up! decided to bring back the act of sending birthday cards instead of only posting "Happy Birthday" on someone's Facebook page.  You can go here to read all the details.  You can now order your own #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp here .

One of my intentions for 2016 is to send more cards, period.  I have been doing pretty good at this but there's always room for improvement.   Birthday cards are probably the cards that I need the most.  You might think that I have a huge stash of cards just waiting to be sent.  Unfortunately, this is not the case.   I am often "shopping" my card display for cards.  Today I am sharing a quick but hopefully,  you will think cute card that is easy to make and if you change up the colors, can also be used for the men in your life.

The gold cord I used on the card is from the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog and is not currently available.  I love the cord and really hope Stampin' Up! brings it back!

Amazing Birthday tange tang, pacific pt,crushed curry

Here it is in a more manly color combination of Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, and Crushed Curry.  Everything else is the same except I used some retired Tangerine Tango Baker's twine.  I did not realize it was retired and could have used Crushed Curry Baker's twine instead.

If you need any supplies or want to order your own #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp please visit my online store.  I really appreciate when you shop with me and it helps support regular posting to this blog.

Birthday Blooms in Black & White and a little Pink

Just a quick check in!  I took a trip to visit  my family and have been scrambling ever since I got back.  I will tell you that I was pretty proud of myself that I had scheduled blog and Facebook posts during the time I was gone.   However, I should have also scheduled a couple of posts for a few days after my trip to  give myself a few days to get back into the groove of everyday life.  Lesson learned for next time!

Birthday Blooms B&W

Wanted to play with the Birthday Blooms set but didn't have much time so I used the big flower as a background stamp and stamped it randomly.  I don't do this often but I really need to, cause I think it  looks great.   I embossed the little flower and colored it with ink refills and an Aqua Painter, fussy cut it and placed it on the banner.  Pretty darn quick card.

Gotta scoot and finish getting the room ready for stamping!  If you emailed me recently I should also be caught up by the end of the day.  Thanks for your patience.   Have a great rest of the day!

Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #CCMC 401

If it is Thursday it must be time for a Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  Today #CCMC401 is a sketch challenge.

CCMC 401

I decided to use  the English Garden Designer Series Paper(DSP).  I recently discovered/rediscovered this paper in my paper holder.   The DSP helped me chose the colors and other products I wanted to use.  I pulled out the Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and the White Corrugated paper to use on this, one for the bling and one to add some texture and dimension.

CCMC 401 side

I used both the Bold Butterfly framelits and the Butterflies thinlits for the butterfly.   I sure do like the Blushing Bride Glimmer paper.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

I hope you will join us and participate in the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge CCMC#401 sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch and be sure to let me know you played along!

Flower Patch and the TSOT#265

Today is the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #265. The TSOT design team alternates week and this is my week.  Ready to see the sketch?

TSOT

I will admit to you right up front that I took a lot of liberties with this sketch.  I think  you can still see the "bones" of the sketch in my card.

TSOT #265

Now that Sale-A-Bration is over I have been pulling out stamp sets that have been neglected and the Flower Patch stamp set definitely fits that category.  This set like the Botanical Builders set can be used to make all kind of flowers.  Now that I have pulled the set out along with the Flower Fair Framelit dies, I know it is going to be hard to stop playing with it.

Did you check out the Old Olive brad?  That sweet thing is from a Sale-A-Bration past.  I cannot remember the name of it but I still had a few of these left and thought they made for perfect centers for the flowers.

I hope you play along with the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge.  One super cool thing is that you do not have to have a blog to play.  There is a Facebook group and once you join the group you can post your entries there.   Click here for the link to the  group.   Be sure to let me know if you are playing along with us.

You're So Lovely

I try to stamp a few samples with every stamp set I own .  I have been stumped trying to figure out how to use the circular image in the You're So Lovely stamp set.  One day when I was staring at the set it came to me!  Doesn't it kind of look like a grapevine wreath?

Remarkable You Leaves

Today I want to share with you a masculine card...no, this is not an April Fools joke!   I admit that I do not often share very many manly cards but no fooling I  have a manly card for you.

Remarkable You leaves

If this looks familiar it is because I first played with this color combination of Mossy Meadow and Lost Lagoon for the Stamper's Dozen March Blog Hop.   I embossed the leaves with Black embossing powder on Shimmery White paper.   Using an Aqua Painter and Mossy Meadow and Lost Lagoon ink refills I colored the leaves.   The image and the colors make for a handsome card.

Remember to order your 2014-16 In Color products.   I would hate for you to get caught without an ink refill, paper, markers, etc cause that would be no joke!
