Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop....Shaking it Up!!

Blog hop header

Welcome to another fun Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month we are shaking it up with shaker cards!  Don't you love a shaker card?  Lots of ideas went through my head but I just couldn't settle on the right combination of stamps and things to shake.  So, what do I do when I need a jump start?  I organize!  As I was going through one of the many stacks in my room guess what I found...  Shrink Plastic!  Remember shrink plastic?  I know Stampin' Up! doesn't currently sell it and it may not be in vogue right now but oh I love me some shrink plastic!

The shrink plastic I found was just in a file folder and it is very thin.  I remember buying it a long time ago and being able to use my punches to punch out shapes to shrink.  Do you see where I am going with this?  If I can punch it, then I can die cut it!  Now this opened up a whole range of possibilities.

Bear Hugs www.sharonburkert.com

I stamped the fish from the Bear Hugs set in Stazon ink and colored them in with Sharpies and then shrank them using my heat tool.   I added some silver beads and sequins to help the little fishes swim. The little fish shrank from 1-1/8" to about 3/8", just perfect for a shaker card.

Do you know what else is perfect for making shaker cards?  The Foam Adhesive strips (141825) on page 182 of the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog.  These long thin strips(1/8" x 9") are perfect to use to attach your frames and corral your shaker items.  They are also great to use as dimensionals when you are securing little pieces, since you cut what you need.

Well, it is time for you to hop on over to Laura Milligan's blog and see what she's got shaking!  I know it is going to be amazing!

Jar of Love Create with Connie and Mary #CCMC419

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge! This week it is a fun sketch challenge.

CCMC419

Does this sketch scare you just a little?  It did me.  The first thing I had to decide on was the 4 strips of paper.  SU!'s DSP coordinate really well together so it wasn't too difficult to find 4 designs to use together.  The DSP I used is from the A Little Foxy DSP stack.    The stack has  24 designs to choose from and it was fun mixing and matching and deciding on which 4 to use.

The next decision was what stamp set to use?  I decided on one of my very favorite sets,  Jar of Love.  It was easy to come up with the color scheme based on the DSP and then I set on the fun task of flower arranging.  I added the doily behind the jar to break up all that pattern and help the both the flowers and the DSP stand out a bit more.

I hope you will join in the challenge and be sure to check out all the awesome creations by the design team.  It is always so fun to see how everyone interprets the challenge.  Thanks for stopping by!

Foxy Friends and the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #TSOT2823

I had so much fun creating this card for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge.   I did deviate a bit from the sketch but I think you can see the "bones" of the sketch in my card.

TSOT 283

I have been wanting to play more with the Foxy Friends stamp and the coordinating Fox Builder punch.  There are so many different animals you can create with this bundle of products.  I still have not moved beyond the fox but I will.

I used Sweet Sugarplum ink to stamp the solid image and Rich Razzleberry ink on top.  I added a little clear Wink of Stella on the Rich Razzleberry to give it a little shimmer.

stamp ladies Double Dare Challenge

Every so often I issue a "Double Dare Challenge" to my team of demonstrators.  How it works is I send out a packet of supplies to those who are up for a challenge and they have to make a card out of the items.  They send the cards back to me and Jim randomly selects a name and that person gets all the cards.  I am always so impressed with the creativity of my team and asked them if I could share their creations.  Most of them said yes so I will be sharing their cards over the next few days.  This time they were sent Sweet SugarPlum card stock,  Delicate White Doilies,  Bow Paper Clip, and 1/4" Natural Trim.
