Flourish Thinlits and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #CCMC426

Are you ready to see the color combination for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge # 426?  It was a toughie but I think I say that everytime!

CCMC426

This is a very handsome color combination.  I tried a bunch of different ideas and finally settled on using a favorite card template and the Flourish Thinlits die.

Are you wondering how this card opens?

The card slips out the side of the DSP sleeve.  The only stamping I did on the card was the little sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners set.

Be sure to check out how the other designers used the colors.  From the preview I saw, I can tell you that they did an incredible job.  I would love to see you join in the challenge as well.  Please go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog for all the details on how to join in the challenge!

Spooky Fun Bundle

Today I have another project using the Spooky Fun bundle from the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog.  I used it to make my card for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge card.

CCMC425

I think I say I struggle with every challenge, which is one of the reasons I wanted to be a part of the design team.  Whether it is a color or sketch challenge I am pushed to try something new.  I know  that participating in challenges has helped me become a better stamper.  I highly recommend it and hope you will join in this week's challenge.

I started off by lightly sponging black ink on to a strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  I cut out the spooky tree using the Halloween Scene Edgelits (available as a bundle with the Spooky Fun stamp set).   I stamped the witch image on Smoky Slate card stock and used markers to color her. There are 2 witch images in the Spooky Fun set one solid and the other a line image and they are both cut out using the same  die from the Halloween Scene Edgelits.   The little witch is flying across a Gold Glimmer moon.  I also used a piece of the Halloween Night Specialty DSP.  There are 2 sheets in this fun pack of paper that have silver foil designs.  The one I used has a cool spider web design on it.  The little bats were cut out using the Home Sweet Home framelits.   The final thing I did was stamp the little dots from the Gorgeous Grunge set.   This little bit of texture was just what the card needed.

Spooky Fun and the TSOT Challenge #289

One of my favorite bundles in the new Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog is called Spooky Fun.  I love the variety of images in the set and coordinating   framelits to cut them out.  I used this bundle for the Try Stampin' On Tuesday Challenge #289.

I started off with a piece of Smoky Slate card stock and built my scene on that.  I cut the tree out of Basic Black card stock and added the pumpkins and fence.  I sponged around the edges to make the scene a little spookier and added a couple of bats to finish off the scene.

I also used two patterns from the Halloween Night Specialty DSP.  Love the fun designs in the pack of patterned paper.

I hope you will join in the fun and play along with the Try Stampin' on Tuesday design team and try your hand at this sketch.  You can go to the Try Stampin' on Tuesday blog for all the details.  I look forward to seeing what you create with this sketch!

Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #424

This week the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge is a color challenge.

  CCMC424

The only thing I could think of using these colors for were leaves.  I pulled out the Vintage Leaves set and coordinating Leaflets framelits and got to work stamping and sponging.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...September edition

Blog hop header

Welcome to the September Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month the theme is Cards that Move.   I love a fun fold and one that has some movement is even better.  I had a plan in mind of what I wanted to make and when I was done making my card I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  This should have been my first clue that something was awry.   I had to run a bunch of errands so I decided to take my  pictures and then complete my blog post when i got back.  While I was out I realized that somewhere along the way I strayed from my original card concept and  I really did not make a card that moved.  I also knew thatI wouldn't have time to remake the card, take new pictures and write up a post before the hop went live.  So, please use your imagination and play along with me and act surprised when the reindeers pull out of a secret(imaginary) pocket.

Now here is where you have to pretend that the reindeers  pull out of a secret pocket.

Unfortunately, what I actually made was a Z fold card.  I was going to try and rationalize that it moves to open but every card does that.  It still is pretty cute even if it doesn't move.

Thank you for stopping by and playing along with me and my card that doesn't really move.  Be sure to head over to Laura Milligan's blog.  I know she  has a super cute card that actually does  move for you.

Create with Connie and Mary #CCMC423 Merriest Wishes

It has been a while since I posted.   The past month has been a difficult one for my family and we are slowly getting back to normal.   It will take a while so please bear with me.

I have not stamped anything in close to a month.  I wanted to start contributing to the Connie and Mary Design team and I also knew that having a sketch would help me get back to stamping.   Here's the sketch #CCMC423.

CCMC423

Love this simple straightforward sketch.  I had a box of new goodies from the Holiday catalog that needed unpacking and the first thing I pulled out was the Merriest Wishes stamp set and the Merry Tags framelits.  They were perfect for this sketch.

I layered the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate over the Red Glimmer Paper.  The Fabulous Foil Acetate has gold foil designs on one side and on the flip side the design looks more silver.  There is a thin plastic liner protecting the Fabulous Foil Acetate.  It is hard to see but it is there and you need to be sure to peel it off.

I hope you will join in the challenge and be sure to check out what the other designers created for the sketch.
