Birthday Blooms and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge
October 27, 2016
It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. Color Challenge time!
What to make with this lovely combination? I was stumped except I knew I wanted to do some coloring so I pulled out one of my favorite sets to color, Birthday Blooms. Since I was planning to use my Aqua Painter I knew I wanted to use Shimmery White card stock. To help me stay in the lines I embossed the image with white embossing powder.
The image is a solid piece of card stock. When I was finished coloring I used a ruler and pencil and drew a line of where I was going to cut. I cut the straight lines with an exacto knife and used my paper snips to trim around the more detailed parts like the leaves.
Here are the supplies I used.

Be sure to check out what the other design team members created with the color challenge. I hope you will join in the fun and participate in the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #430.
Wow, Sharon! You took these Halloween colors and made them gorgeous! I love how soft they are on the pretty flower petals. The technique you used for cutting out your main panel makes this card super special! I think yours is my favorite sample this week!

Thank you Cherie for stopping by and leaving me such a sweet comment. I have not taken the time to color much lately and so it was really fun to do it for this color challenge.

Thanks Pauline! You kind of read my mind. I was good with the Perfect Plum and Old Olive but I was not sure how to incorporate the Pumpkin Pie. Thanks for stopping by and leaving such awonderful comment.

This is just gorgeous Sharon - I love the subtle effect that using these colours to watercolour has - so very pretty. The fussy cut detail on the flower also adds so much to the finished card. My favourite card this week!

Sharon, your card is such a stunning card. I just bought the stamp set last month and have not had time to open it.
This would be a perfect card for my friend that loves plum and purple. I am not sure if I can do a good job with the versa mark and embossing powder but, sure will give it a try. I need to get a card in the mail for my friend.

Sharon, what paper did you stamp the flower on?
Posted by: Lora | October 28, 2016 at 09:03 PM
Hi Lora! Thank you for leaving me such a nice comment. I used Shimmery White card stock for the main image. Shimmery White card stock is one of my favorite papers to use when i use my Aqua Painter. Shimmery White seems to hold up to the water and also has a nice little shine to it. I am sure you will do just great making this card. Just remember to use the Embossing Buddy before you stamp the image, it will really help eliminate the stray grains of embossing powder. Have fun and thanks again!

Thank you Sharon for this information. Too bad I can't see your shimmery White card in person.
I am hoping I can make this in the next couple of days.

SO pretty! Your watercoloring is perfect! Great shading! I'll bet this is a real stunner when you are holding it in your hands! All the shimmery goodness combined with the embossing and watercolor!

Thanks Lisa! I wish the camera on my phone had a shimmer/glitter setting! I can only hope someone invents that soon!

We may have used the same set but you came up with a really beautiful card! I love the softness of the water colouring and the way you've partially cut the flower out is stunning! Just beautiful!
