Birthday Blooms and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  Color Challenge time!

CCMC430

What to make with this lovely combination?  I was stumped except I knew I wanted to do some coloring so I pulled out one of my favorite sets to color, Birthday Blooms.    Since I was planning to use my Aqua Painter  I knew I wanted to use  Shimmery White card stock.  To help me stay in the lines I embossed the image with white embossing powder.

Birthday Blooms stamp set, www.sharonburkert.com #stampin' up

The image is a solid piece of card stock.  When I was finished coloring I used a ruler and pencil and drew a line of where I was going to cut.  I cut the straight lines with an exacto knife and used my paper snips to trim around the more detailed parts like the leaves.

Here are the supplies I used.

Star of Light and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge 429

Create with Connie and Mary Challenge time!  This week it is a sketch and  this is one that I will definitely use again.

CCMC429

Lots of stamp sets came to mind that would work really well with this sketch.  How did i ever narrow it down?  I keep my brand new sets on my craft table until I have used them so in order to have room to work I need to use those new sets!  I know, not much of a hardship.

Star of Light CCMC 429

I wish you could see some of the sparkle and shine on this card.  I used the Starlight thinlits and cut out the solid image in white and the detailed overlay in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.   I stamped the Real Red card stock in Real Red ink with the Merry Medley background stamp.  I think the Merry Medley stamp will get a LOT of use, so many great sentiments on that background stamp. I scattered around the glittery star some silver Metallic enamel shapes and some rhinestones.  SO much sparkly goodness!

I hope you will join in the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  I would love to see what you create so be sure to leave me a comment of where I can see your creations!

Flurry of Wishes and the Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge

This month on the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge we are focusing on the holidays.  This means that every card the designers make will feature holiday card ideas.  Pretty cool right?

Here's the sketch for the Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge#293.

TSOT 293

I took some liberties and simplified the design.  I like the simple and clean lines of the sketch.

It is hard to see but the snowflakes are embossed in white and are glittery.  I made a custom mix of White embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I mixed one part embossing powder to one part glitter and mixed it really well.   I also used the new Real Red Glitter Stampin' Emboss powder in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog on the sentiment.   The Baker's Twine is from the Candy Cane Lane Suite of products and the whisper white twine has a red metallic twist.  Lots of shimmer and shine on this card.

I hope you join in this sketch challenge and also be sure to check out what the other designers created.  You can find all the details on the Try Stampin' On Tuesday blog or on the Try Stampin' On Tuesday Facebook page.

Bunch of Blossoms Christmas Tree

Back in July,  I had a Bunch of Blossom stamp camp.  We wanted to highlight lots of ways to use the stamp set and punch.  One of the fun ways we came up with is a Bunch of Blossoms Christmas tree!

Isn't it cute?  We were pretty tickled when we came up with it.  The card we did at the camp also incorporated a fancy fold.  We came up with another outside of the stamp set Christmas idea that I will be sharing soon.

Delicate Ornaments and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge 428

Time for another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week it is a color challenge.  Are you ready to see the color combination?

CCMC428

Isn't this a sweet combination of colors?  It looks like spring to me.  Unfortunately I was in a Christmas frame of mind when I worked on the challenge so you can guess that I had a hard time figuring it out.  It took a while but it finally came to me...ornaments!

Delicate Ornaments CCMC 428

I used the Delicate Ornament framelits and cut the bases out of the color challenge colors and used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper for the detailed overlay.  I used Gold Glimmer paper for the ornament tops and  Gold twine from the Baker's Twine Trio to tie little bows.   The Sweet Sugarplum sequins are from the Fancy Frost Sequins assortment in the Holiday catalog.   The ornaments were layered on to a piece of Fancy Frost Specialty DSP.  This Specialty paper has beautiful embossed images on them.  I wanted to highlight the embossed design  so i randomly sponged Pear Pizzaz ink.

I hope you stamp along with the Create with Connie and Mary design team and submit a card for challenge # 428!

Wonder of Christmas

When I saw this sweet little angel in the Wonder of Christmas stamp set in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog I knew she needed to come and hang out with me in my stamp room.  I look forward to finding lots of fun ways to use this stamp set.  The first thing I wanted to try was doing some paper piecing.  I stamped her dress onto some Pop of Pink Specialty DSP, her wings were embossed on card stock vellum, and her banner on Blushing Bride card stock.  A little trimming later and  she was done.

Wonder of Christmas easel

I wanted to keep the gold theme going so I layered her on a piece of Fabulous Foil Acetate and tied on some 1/4" Natural Trim in gold.

Fruit Stand DSP and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge 427

Ready for another fun Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge?  Here we go with sketch challenge #427!

CCMC427

I love this simple sketch with the asymmetrical little detail.  The first card I designed for this sketch I shared earlier this week but I quickly realized that I covered up the design so I made another card using one of my favorite packs of Designer Series Paper, Fruit Stand.

Fruit stands ccmc 427

Isn't it just so sweet? I have the coordinating stamp set, Fresh Fruit but decided to cut out the peaches from the DSP instead.  The only stamping I did was the sentiment from the Sweet Stack stamp set, which I thought was perfect for the images.  The Fruit Stand DSP makes me happy.  Lots of bright colors and cheery designs and in October part of an awesome deal.

I hope you take some time this week and join us and create a card for the Create with Connie and Mary challenge #427. You can get all the information about the challenge at the Create with Connie and Mary blog.

Some of my favorite designs are included in this deal and that makes me so happy.  Time to stock up!  Here's a fun card using the Presents and Pinecones DSP that is part of this special and can be found in the Holiday catalog.  I love how Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron look together.

Presents and Pine Cones DSP www.sharonburkert.com #stampinup

I originally designed this card for a sketch challenge but realized that I got a bit carried away with the greenery and pinecones and was covering up a lot of the elements of the design.   A new card has been designed and uses a favorite DSP that is part of the special so look for it later in the week.
