Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge #444

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week it is a color challenge.  Ready?

CCMC444

I am probably going to sound like a broken record but this combination had me stumped!  I tried lots of different things and even had another card ready to go when I decided I needed to try one more time to create something else.

Flourish thinlits and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

I love the look of inlaid die cuts and it is much easier than it looks.  I cut the large flourish out of the Peekaboo Peach.  I then layered the Peekaboo Peach on to the Dapper Denim card stock.   I cut another large flourish out of Crumb Cake card stock and glued it on to the card. I did add a few glittery dots to add a little sparkle to the card.    The sentiment is from the Best Birds stamp set and is inked in Dapper Denim ink.

Here's a peek of the inside of the card.  I used another of the dies from the Flourish thinlits to sit on top of the Peekaboo Peach strip. Just a simple finish to unify the front and the inside.

Be sure to check out what the other Design Team members created.  They are pretty brilliant.  I had a sneak peek of their cards and I am wowed with how beautifully they handled this color combination challenge.

Another Snowy Day

We woke up to maybe 10 inches of snow and it was beautiful.  Here's the bird feeder that is right outside of my craft room window.

Bird feeder

I was happy to stay inside and watch the birds at the feeder and stamp.

FLourish Thinlits and the Butterfly Basics stamp set

Do you recognize the flower?  It is  the Succulents Framelits dies cut out using the Sending Love Glassine Sheets.  I think  the Glassine Sheet makes a very delicate looking flower.

I like the look of the inlaid dies.  I used the Flourish Thinlits and cut out the leaves and then put them back in after brushing away all the cut out pieces.  It is very easy and creates a really nice effect.   I also added a few Tip Top Taupe splotches.  I want to remind you that the 2015-17 In Colors are nearing the end of their time as In Colors so it is a good idea to get your ink refills and maybe a pack of card stock before they are gone.

Product List

We should be returning to more normal weather (rain) in the next day or two.  The snow is lovely but I am ready for it to start melting away.  If you need any supplies I would love to be your demonstrator.

Basket Bunch Snow Day

It snowed all day.  Where I live this is pretty unusual and stranger yet it is sticking!  There's maybe 3" on the ground.  In other words it was a perfect day to stay in and play in my craft room.  I decided I needed to pull out a stamp set that I have not played with yet and make some samples.  I recently ordered the Basket Bunch Bundle so it was pulled out to get inky.

I knew I wanted to play along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge when I saw their sketch.

I used the watercolor pencils in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive and an Aqua Painter to color the flowers.  It was relaxing watching the snow fall while coloring spring flowers.   I couldn't find the right sentiment until I looked in my Paper Pumpkin stamps.  It was a toss up between one that said "Happy Spring"  and the one I chose, "hello sunshine".

I added a little glitter to the centers of the flowers and thought about adding some ribbon but decided I liked the clean and simple look of the card.

Product List

There are  29 stamps in the Basket Bunch stamp set and 22 dies in the Basket Builder Framelit set.  So many possibilities and I will be sharing lots more ideas with the set.  They say it is going to keep on snowing through the night and on Monday too.  Looks like another snowy day in the stamp room!

Dragonfly Dreams Again

This morning I was editing and watermarking my cards for future blog posts and realized that the vast majority of the cards used the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle (Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits).   I hope you like the bundle as much as I do, it is going to be in heavy rotation in the posts ahead.

When I first got the Dragonfly Dreams  bundle I played around with the idea of a dragonfly with different glimmer paper wings.   Here's a link to one with Blushing Bride Glimmer wings . Today's dragonfly is sporting Red Glimmer wings.

Isn't she a striking dragonfly?  I also used the thinlits to create the background of little dragonflies.

To create the "sun" behind the dragonfly I sponged some Pumpkin Pie ink on the Daffodil Delight card stock.   I haven't decided what purpose this card will be used for but a sentiment but when I do the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set has great sentiments for me to use and they all will fit in the space I have.

Product List

I have lots more editing and stamping to do, so I better get to it.  I really need to get some other cards made to balance out all the dragonflies!  If you need(and you know you do) your own Dragonfly Dreams bundle it is just a few clicks away on my online store and be sure to add just another item so your order totals $50 and receive a free Sale-A-Bration choice.

Special Reason and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #443

The days  fly by so quickly, it is already Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week it is a sketch challenge.  I didn't follow the sketch exactly but I think you can see the bones of the sketch in my card.

CCMC443

Here's what I made using this sketch.

Special Reason, So In Love stamp sets www.sharonburkert.com

I cut the band out of card stock Vellum using the So Detailed Thinlits.  A lot of the band is hidden by the flower but I think you can see enough of it to see how pretty the design is.

So in Love stamp set www.sharonburkert.com

I used the So in Love stamps to make my background design.  I grouped 4 of the stamps from the set together on one block and randomly stamped using VersaMark ink.

I cut  the flower next and even though there is Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper I decided to heat emboss the solid part of the flower using a mix of Dazzling Diamonds glitter and Clear Embossing powder.  The two toned leaves were  cut out of Pear Pizzaz card stock.  I inked the solid part of the leaves with VersaMark so it would be a little darker and provide a little contrast.  I used the Flourish Thinlits for the bud sprigs.

Be sure to check out the Create with Connie and Mary blog to see what the rest of the design team created for this sketch.  It is always fun to see how everyone interprets the sketch.
