Cool Treats and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #451

It is Thursday and  time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge $451.   This week it is a sketch challenge and a perfect one to use with your favorite designer paper.

 Here is the sketch.

CCMC451

Cool Treats bundle www.sharonburkert.com

I finally did it.  I cut into this design which is one of the specialty papers in the Tasty Treats DSP pack.  The 2 specialty paper designs are so darn cute. I love that there is a glossy coating over the images, it just amps up the cute factor even more.   If you stamp with me, you know that if you get a card using the Tasty Treats DSP and especially if it is one of the specialty designs it means I think you are pretty special.

Cool Treats bundle www.sharonburkert.com

I have really enjoyed using the  entire Cool Treats Suite.  I  also used the super cute Watermelon Wonder 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon.  Remember that Watermelon Wonder is an 2015-17 In Color so if you love the color be sure to order the products now.

Go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog and you can get all the details on how to enter the challenge.  Be sure to check out what the other designers have created for the challenge.  I am always amazed at their talent and  how differently we all interpret the sketch.

Did you know that you can get the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP as a Sale-A-Bration choice? You have until March 31 and with a qualifying order you can get the Tasty Treats DSP FREE!   You need to use this number 147364 when you place your order and not the number in the Occasions catalog.

Birthday Blooms and Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #315

Ready for a fun challenge?  This sketch for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #315 is a great one.  So many different fun possibilities.  I hope you will give it a try.

TSOT 315

Optional theme:  3 different patterns

Birthday Blooms, www.sharonburkert.com

This image from the  Birthday Blooms stamp set is one of my favorite to color.  In fact this stamp set is one of my favorites period because it has both beautiful images and great sentiments.  After my last post I did double check and this stamp set is indeed a current one and available to purchase.  The pretty little bow is made from the Sale-A-Bration 3/8" Metallic Ribbon pack. It is very easy to tie and adds just a bit of shine to any project. I did use one retired item and here's why. When I saw the sketch I immediately thought of flowers and the 2 smaller circles as butterflies.  The current butterfly punch I have is a bit too big so I pulled out the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. This Embosslit is long retired but I kept it because it has 5 sizes of butterflies. I cut out the smallest butterfly from card stock vellum and colored the backs with markers and they were just right for this card.

Something Old and Something New

Today was the first time I pulled out the Cupcakes and Carousels DSP Stack.   I pulled out the first sheet ( I looked at it from the back to the front) and loved how the 2 patterns looked so good together.  I knew exactly how I wanted to use it and then went looking for just the right image.

Serene Silhouettes Cupcakes and Carousels DSP www.sharonburkert.com

I found this image in the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.  Now you might be thinking, "isn't that a retired stamp set?"  Yes, you are right it is.  Somehow  I never pulled this stamp set from my stamp shelf when it retired.   Maybe I chose to ignore the fact that it was retired since I love the images in this set. In fact I didn't really realize it was retired until I looked for it in the current Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.

We are in the last few days of Sale-A-Bration 2017!  Many of the SAB choices are no longer available.  Here are the items I know of  that are no longer available:  Sparkle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper Pack, Card Tin.  There are still lots of choices available.  You can shop with me online HERE.  Now, I am off to double check the stamps I have on my shelf to make sure they are all still current.  Have a great one!

Stylish Stems and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #450

It is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge #450!   This week I think Connie and Mary took it a little easy on the Thursday design team and all I can say is thank you!

CCMC450

I knew exactly what Designer Series Paper I wanted to use.  I purchased the Succulent Garden DSP and love the Sweet Sugarplum gingham check  and it is perfect for this challenge.

Stylish Stems framelits www.sharonburkert.com

Isn't it sweet?  I used the Stylish Stems framelits and the Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer paper  (Sale-A-Bration Glimmer Paper Assortment pack) to cut out the flower and leaves.   I also cut out an additional center of the flower out of So Saffron card stock.  I wanted that little pop of color to tie in the So Saffron color.  The flowers are layered on to a circle cut from the Stitched Shapes dies.  I also used the Sweet Sugarplum ribbon form the Succulent Garden Ribbon Combo pack.  I love that there is a whole suite of products to use that coordinate.

I hope you will join in the challenge.  You can get all the details here and be sure to check out what the other designers created with this color combination!

Lift Me Up and the Wave Edge

I don't want to be an alarmist but we are  just days away from the end of Sale-A-Bration!  Okay, I got that out of my system.  Today's sample uses 2 Sale-A-Bration items; Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper from the 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper Assortment and the Carried Away DSP.

Lift Me Up bundles www.sharonburkert.com

I am still loving this wave edge and if you missed it,  you can read all about how to make it on this post.   I am going to miss this cloud pattern paper in the Carried Away DSP, good thing I have an extra pack.

I also want to remind you that the 2015-2017 In Colors will be retiring soon.  It is a good idea to order your ink refills, card stock, ribbon DSP while they are still available.  The availability of these products are while supplies last and every year there are disappointed people who missed out on getting them.  I do not want you to be one of those people.

2015-2017 In Colors

See the little cloud on the Whisper White?  It is what keeps the card closed.  I put a Stampin' Dimensional on the right edge to attach it to the card and the left edge holds down the balloon.

Cool Treats and the Wave Edge

Don't you love it when you try something new and it works?  I am sure someone else has already figured this out but it is new to me.  Here's how it started.  I wanted to make a fancy edge on my card front so I looked through the different framelits to see what might work.  I file my dies alphabetically and I was getting pretty discouraged until I got to S.  What did I see?  You got it the Swirly Scribbles thinlit!

Cool Treats bundle Swirly Scribbles thinlits www.sharonburkert.com

Tips & Tricks:  Here's how I got that great wave edge.

    1. Cut a strip of DSP the same length as the card front.

    2. Secure it to the front edge of your card.  In the picture I secured it with a Post-It.

    3. Cut the edge with the long Swirly Scribbles thinlit.  I used the edge that has more of a smooth curve.

I cut the DSP at the same time as the card front to make sure the curve is exactly the same.

Tips & Tricks  Make a custom mix of 1 part Clear Embossing Powder and 1 part Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  Creates a glittery shiny accent.  I used this on the center ice cream.  If you are wondering,  I inked the stripes in VersaMark ink and then in the Watermelon Wonder ink.  The VersaMark is clear and sticky so it makes a perfect ink to heat emboss with and the Watermelon Wonder ink adds the color.   These 2 tips I use a lot.

Just a few more days left of Sale-A-Bration.  Don't delay!  You can go to my online store and with a $50 order(before shipping and tax) you will be able to choose a free Sale-A-Bration gift.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

This cute little bunny is all dressed up with his green bow tie and his 4 leaf clover to wish you a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Basket Bunch bundle www.sharonburkert.com #stampinup

How I wish we had Glimmer paper in all the colors!  It is a good idea to stock up on the Sale-A-Bration 6" x 6" Glimmer Assortment pack while you can.  The 3 colors in the SAB Assortment: Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum.  The colors are delicious.

Sometimes it can be a little tricky using Glimmer Paper as a layer.   Here's a little trick I used to secure the bunny piece to the Glimmer Paper.

Basket Bunch 4 leaf clover  Basket Bunch St Pat back

I cut out the center of the Glimmer Paper. From the back side I used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the Glimmer Paper to the Whisper White.  This works a lot better than trying to attach the Whisper White piece on top of the Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper.

Wild About Flowers and the CCMC#449

If it is Thursday then it is time for me to share with you the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge.  This week it is a Sketch Challenge and it is number 449.

CCMC449

Here's what I made for the challenge.

Wild About Flowers www.sharonburkert.com #stampinup

This is a quick and easy card.  The trickiest part is figuring out the size of the panels and the layer.  The panels I made were 1-1/2" x  3-1/2"  and the layer measures 3-5/8" x  4-3/4".

Wild About Flowers www.sharonburkert.com

There are certain stamp sets that  I reach for a lot.  When it comes to sentiments, the sets I always come back to are Teeny Tiny Wishes, Thoughtful Banners and Sunshine Wishes.  I think those sets should have you covered for almost all occasions.

I didn't have any Neutrals Enamel Shapes so I got my trusty  black Sharpie marker and colored over a  couple of Soft Sky enamel shapes.

I hope you will check out what the rest of the design team created.  You can also get all the details on how you can participate in the challenge by going to the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge blog.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Food!

Blog hop header

Welcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  The theme this month is FOOD!  I will be the first to admit that my project may be on the fringes of this theme.   When I first got the idea I was so excited and was convinced it would be a good fit.  Now I am not so sure.  Just keep in mind that cake is food and so is gum.

Party Pop-Up Thinlits, www.sharonburkert.com

See that cute little cake from the Endless Birthday Wishes set on the tag?  Cake, that's food right?

Party Pop Up thinlits www.sharonburkert.com

Let's see what is inside the box?  Birthday Cake gum, now that's food too, right?  This little box would also be the just right  for a big cookie.
