2018 Annual Catalog

Painted Harvest and the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #557

I am back from a fun weekend away at the Stampin' Up! On Stage local in Vancouver BC.  Stampin' Up! sure knows how to put on an event. One of the fun perks is that we received the new 2019-20 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog.  This just might be my favorite catalog yet!  In anticipation of a new catalog, I spent part of the last few days pulling stamp sets, ribbons, dies and other accessories that are being retired.  Here is the list of the items retiring from the 2019 Occasions catalog.  Here is the list of items retiring from the 2018-19 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog* (please note that the items shaded will be available in the 2019-20 Annual Catalog as Cling stamp).  Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on products that are retiring.  I look forward to playing with them one more time before they are no longer available.

The Create with Connie and March Challenge #CCMC557 is a color challenge.

CCMC557

While I was sorting my stamp sets I found stamp sets that I hadn't used in a while and Painted Harvest is one of those sets.  I decided it was perfect for the color challenge.

ASID-CCMC557

I am so happy this set is not being retired.  Painted Harvest is a set that is easy to work with and create beautiful cards with very little fuss. There are 2 stamps that are used to create the flower.  I inked the bolder stamp in Pineapple Punch and stamped it off once before stamping it on the card.  The second stamp I inked and stamped in Pineapple Punch full strength.  After I was done stamping I used the Subtles embossing folder to give it a little texture.

Be sure to take some time to check out the retiring lists, especially the 2017-19 In Color Products.   Once they are gone, they are gone!

Jar of Love for Festive Friday FF0031

I have exciting news!  I am now a member of the Festive Friday Challenge Design Team!  You know I love a good stamping challenge and Festive Friday has some great challenges and I am so happy to be on the team.

Ready for the Challenge?

FF31A

What I love is that you can use either or both of the themes for your project.  This challenge runs until April 15, so you have lots of time to join in the festivities!  If you get really inspired you can enter up to 3 times.

I was inspired by the Rainbow theme and a little bit by the Earth Day theme too.

FF31Sharon

Yes, it is a Rainbow bouquet of flowers!  I had so much fun cutting and arranging my flowers.  I used the Jar of Love stamp set and the coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  The colors I used for the rainbow: Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, So Saffron, Balmy Blue, Call Me Clover, Pacific Point, and Highland Heather.  I finished off the card with Celebrate from the Celebrate You Thinlits.  I thought it was the perfect way to finish up the card.

One of the unique features of the Festive Friday Challenge is that each Design team project has a project tutorial.  HERE is the tutorial for my card.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created for this challenge.

Hand Delivered for CCMC555

Are you ready for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge?  It is a color challenge and a little bit wild!

CCMC555

What do you think?  I was a little intimidated by this at first but once I started playing with the combination I liked it so much I made 2 cards using the colors.

AstheInkDries-CCMC4_4

I haven't used the Hand Delivered host stamp set in a while and I thought it would be fun to color her skirt using the colors. I used a mix of Stampin' Blends (Mango Melody & Calypso Coral) and Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Markers. I love this image especially the stack of books.  This is so perfect to send to my book lover friends with a gift card to their favorite book store.

Wouldn't you love having a Melon Mambo bicycle with Calypso Coral tires and Mango Melody tassels and basket?  It was just so fun putting together the components of this bike.  The Bike Ride stamp set also has an adorable stack of books.

Happy April!

04-01-19_header_storage_by_stampin_up_na (2)

I am so happy it's April, a new month and it is going to be a great one, that's my plan anyway.  The last part of March was rough but I have high hopes for April!

April is already off to a good start!  Today is the launch of the new Storage by Stampin' Up!®.   I will be spending some time figuring out how I want to use this new storage option and when i do I will share it with you!  I  love how flexible the storage is and look forward to many happy hours of organizing.  You can see and learn more about the new storage pieces HERE.

I also have a new card for you.  Did you get some of the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty paper during Sale-A-Bration?   If you didn't, you still can, it is part of the DSP offering in the Stampin' Up!® annual catalog.  This paper pack is beautiful and delicate.  It can be a bit fiddly to work with since it is so detailed but oh it is so worth it!

AstheInkDries-Friend-April1

The Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper is sandwiched between a frame I cut using the Stitched Rectangle Framelits and the Sparkle Glimmer paper The frame is layered on a piece of Silver Foil and then on to a Thick Whisper White card base.  The silver foil butterflies were cut using the Butterfly Beauty Thinlit Dies.

AstheInkDries-Friend-April1side

I added the friend  cut using the Well Written Framelits dies.  This card is simple and elegant and can be used for so many different occasions, wouldn't it make a beautiful wedding card?

Check out the new Storage by Stampin' Up! cause it is no April Fool's joke!

Dragonfly Dreams and the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #554

This week the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge is a sketch.  I knew  I wanted to use a patterned paper which made me think of  the Painted Seasons DSP which is available as  a level 1 Sale-A-Bration choice and a level 2 Sale-A-Bration choice paired with the Painted Seasons stamp set.

CCMC554

What to use for the little accents?  I thought about butterflies, birds and then it came to me...

AstheInkDries-CCMC554

Dragonflies!  I have been trying to look at my stamps, punches and dies from the annual catalog to mix in with my newer products.  I haven't used the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits in quite a while!  I cut them out in Early Espresso and knew i needed to fill in the wings.  I glued down the dragonflies and then cut out another set using Sparkle Glimmer paper.  I filled in the wings with the Sparkle Glimmer paper.  This was pretty but the Glimmer paper was too bright so using a cotton swab I colored the wings using Petal Pink ink.  This toned down the white and it worked better with the other colors on the card.

AstheInkDries-CCMC554-side

I added the "thanks" which I cut in Early Espresso card stock using the Well Written framelits (2019 Occasions catalog).  These framelits are some of my favorites, as you have probably figured out since I use them a lot.

Be sure to check out what the other members of the Create with Connie & Mary Design team created using this sketch.

Remember Sale-A-bration ends in just a few days!

Jar of Love and the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #553

It is Thursday which means it is time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge.

CCMC553

What do you think of this combination of colors?

AstheInkDries-CCMC553 (1)

I used the Jar of Love stamp set and the coordinating Everyday Jars framelits.  This set I haven't used in a while and  consider it to be one of my favorites.  It is easy to create lovely arrangements with the images in the set.

AstheInkDries-CCMC553side

I used the Eclectic Layers thinlits to create the cut out design.  The cut out creates interest, texture and allows the Gray Granite DSP to show through.  It is a simple thing to do and adds a lot to the overall design of the card.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Create with Connie and Mary Design team created for this challenge.  So many great ideas and inspiration!

Vertical Greetings for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #552

Today's sketch for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge made me think about the fun topiaries in the Vertical Greetings stamp set.   In addition to the great images this set also has vertical greetings!  I don't regularly use a vertical greeting but on today's card it was just the right thing.

AstheInkDries-CCMC552

Here is the #CCMC552 sketch.

CCMC552

My card followed the sketch very closely and I am happy with how fresh and clean it looks.  Whisper White card stock combined with any of the Gingham Gala papers just reminds me of spring.   The faux stitched background was created by repeatedly using the large die from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits.  I used this background idea on this card.

AstheInkDries-CCMC552side

Did you notice that the topiary is a little shorter?  I inked up just the last two green poofs (highly technical term) to better fit the oval.  Don't you love those little sequin flowers?  The sequins are adhesive backed which makes them even easier to use.  I put a little Happiness Blooms Enamel Dot in the center of each sequin.

Did you notice the little stitched design on the white strip?  The strip was also made using the Needlepoint Elements framelits.  I didn't want to use ribbon and thought this little design element was just right.

Be sure to check out what the other members of the design team created using this sketch.

Coffee Gift Card holder

Here's another quick and easy gift card holder.  This one is perfect for those coffee cards that are a nice little treat anytime.

AstheInkDries-Coffeegiftcard

I used the Envelope Punch Board to create the gift card holder.  I started with a 5-1/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Wood Textures DSP.   The first measurement is to punch and score at 2-1/4", then simply turn and punch and score lining up with the previous score line.

AstheInkDries-CoffeeGiftcardopen

I made a belly band that fits around the envelope. I attached the largest snowflake (from the now retired limited edition Snowfall thinlits) on to the belly band and attached the coffee cup on to the snowflake.Don't you love the plaid cup?  I used the Festive Farmhouse DSP for the cup and wrap.   This gift card holder comes together quickly and the hardest part is figuring out what paper to use to make those cute cups from the Coffee Cup framelits.

Apron of Love for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge

I cannot decide which I like better Color Challenges or Sketch Challenges but I do know that I certainly enjoy the Create with Connie & Mary Challenges.  This week it is a color challenge, Gray Granite, Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler.

CCMC539

I have been wanting to create a little treat holder to house some kisses as little favors.  Looking through my dies I came across the Apron Builder framelits and thought they just might be perfect.  I haven't used these framelits or the coordinating Apron of Love stamp set nearly enough.

AstheInkDries-ApronofLove

I created a little box and sandwiched it between two aprons  and decorated it using the Peaceful Poinsettia bundle which is one of my  favorite bundles.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  The little 3" x 3" card is decorated with the cute wreath from the Barn Door stamp set and the Sliding Door Framelits.

Here's all the things I used to make today's projects.

Rooted in Nature and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

Today's card for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge uses the Rooted in Nature bundle, Coffee Cup Framelits and the Detailed Leaves Thinlits.  The challenge this week is a color challenge and a combination that I know I will use again.

CCMC531

I love this trio of colors!

AstheInkDries-CCMC531

I have been thinking about stamping a card that combines a coffee cup with  leaves and this week's challenge was perfect for this.  I stamped the Rooted in Nature leaf in Blackberry Bliss and used a blender pen to pull the ink and color the leaf.  This is a super quick and easy way to add color.  The sentiment is also from the Rooted in Nature set.

There are 2 items I used on this card that I love and honestly want to use all the time.  The first is the Subtle embossing folder.  This folder just adds a bit of texture to the card stock.   In today's card the plain Mint Macaron layer looked perfectly fine but adding just that little bit of texture really finished the card.  The other item I used was the edge dies in the Detailed Leaves Thinlits.  I first cut the more intricate die on  Very Vanilla card stock.  I used the other edge die to cut the Blackberry Bliss card stock and layered together they create a beautiful lacy edge.  I fought the good fight and tried to resist buying the Falling for Leaves bundle but after using a friend's stamp set and dies, especially the edge dies I broke down and bought the set.  I will use the stamps and dies a lot, so it was a great decision.

Now it is time for you to check out the cards the other members of the design team created using this color combination.  I know you will be inspired by their creations!
