Bird Banter and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #503

Time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #503.  This week it is a Color Challenge.  Can you guess the colors?

AstheInkDriesCCMC503

If you guessed Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide and Crumb Cake, you are correct!

CCMC503

These colors are prominently featured in the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper aka DSP.  Love the plaids, stripes and patterns especially those glasses!  When I saw the glasses I knew I wanted to use the paper with the sentiment from the Bird Banter stamp set.    I have had so much fun with those fun birds and their sentiments.

I stamped the bird in Tranquil Tide ink and used a blender pen to do a little shading.   The beak and shadow was colored in using Crumb Cake ink and the head feathers with Night of Navy ink.  Very quick and easy to do.

AstheInkDriesCCMC503side

I wanted to tie in the Crumb Cake color a little more so I finished it off with the Crumb Cake 3/8" Classic Weave ribbon.  This ribbon is one of my favorites.  It is soft, easy to tie, and makes great bows.

Are you wondering how I got that border around the Lots of Label framelit?  I used the #4 die ( #1 being the smallest label).  I cut one out of Very Vanilla and another out of Tranquil Tide.  I cut the Tranquil Tide label in half and used it to create the layer around the top and bottom of the Very Vanilla label.

AstheInkDriesCCMC503label2    AstheInkDriesCCMC503label

Cut a strip of Tranquil Tide cs.  The width doesn't matter, I cut mine around 1/2" wide.   The length of the strip needs to be at least twice as long as the length of the label.   Attach the strip to the side of the label  and cut the length matching up with top layer.  Repeat on the other side.

I hope you will join in the Challenge.  Be sure to go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog and check out what the other members of the design team created.

Paper Pumpkin Pop-Up Blog Hop...May Good Things Grow

Paperpumpkin header

Welcome to the Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop! We are all fans of this monthly crafting kit and want to share with you our enthusiasm for this box of fun and creativity. The beauty of the Paper Pumpkin kit is that you can follow the directions provided in the kit to make the projects as they were designed, or use the supplies as a starting point and let your creativity run wild. On this hop we will be sharing lots of ideas with you on how to use this March Paper Pumpkin kit: May Good Things Grow.

I received the Paper Pumpkin box right before we were leaving on a trip to celebrate my mother in law's 99th birthday.  I knew I wouldn't be able to work on it while I was travelling but I did think about it.  What I decided to make was a little mini book for my mother in law so she would have a little something that she could easily look at to remember her birthday.

AstheInkDriesPPMarch1

The first thing I did was to carefully take apart one of the "flower seeds" envelopes.  I put the envelope back together with the lining showing.  There were a couple of spots that were a little ragged so I covered them up with one of the cardstock strips.  I attached the large flower die cut with lots of dimensionals, thankfully there were a lot of them included in the kit.  I stamped my mother in law's name using the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock and did a little sponging around the edges to give it more of a vintage feel.  I used some of the twine that was included in the kit to attach it to the front.

AstheInkDriesPPPMarch3

On the back of the envelope I cut one of the Crumb Cake cards to use as a layer for the picture.  I also used one of the pretty die cuts to decorate the page.

AstheInkDriesPPPMarch4

On the next page I used one of the other envelopes and cut out the inside to make a frame for the picture of her with her 4 sons.  I used one of the wood veneer labels that were a special surprise gift included in the Paper Pumpkin box.   I couldn't decide what to put on the label so I opted to cut out the word love using the Sunshine Wishes thinlits.  I cut the word out from the middle of one of the cards that I used as a layering piece.  I attached the label using the ribbon that was also included in the kit.

AstheInkDriesPPPMarch5

On the back of the envelope I used 2 of the card panels along with a label and a pretty flower die cut.  I stamped the sentiment using the stamp set and love how simple and bold the font is.

AstheInkDriesPPPMarch6

On this envelope I used the other half of the card base to layer this picture of my mother in law.  My sister in law made this beautiful enormous cake and yes, it was delicious!

Are you wondering how this all gets put together?

AstheInkDriesPPPMarch7

The second envelope flap  is inserted and adhered in the first envelope.

AstheInkDriesPPP8

The third envelope flap is inserted in the second envelope and secured.

AstheInkDriesMarchPPP9

The first envelope flap is secured to the back of the 3rd envelope.

I still have so much product left from this month's kit and will be sharing with you more ideas of ways to use this kit.  The only items I used that were not included was the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set and the Sunshine Wishes thinlit dies.  If my handwriting was a little better I wouldn't have had to use those 2 things.

Amazing You in Vellum

Today's card is a simple one featuring the Amazing  You stamp set.  This stamp set is only available for a few more days.

AstheInkDries3-27-18

I stamped the floral image in VersaMark ink on card stock vellum, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set it.  The vellum was layered over a piece of Blushing Bride card stock.   It can be tricky figuring out how to attach the vellum to the card stock.  I placed glue dots behind the flower centers to hide the adhesive. You can also use a few drops of the Multipurpose Liquid Glue behind the leaves to secure the vellum without having the adhesive show through.

I love how soft and feminine this card is.   If you would like the Amazing You stamp set you have just a few more days to order it.  This stamp set is free with a $50 order.

Springtime Foils and the Mini Treat Bag

I haven't used my Mini Treat Bag thinlits in a bit and thought it would make a great birthday/gift card.

AstheInkDriesMiniTreat

I used the Petal Passion DSP to make the bag.  I colored and fussy cut a flower from the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP.  The Calypso Coral ribbon is one of the 3 ribbons in the Sale-A-Bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack.

AstheInkDriesMiniTreatin

Inside of the treat bag I have a gift card holder/card.  I cut the slits using the dies from the Lots to Love Box framelits to hold the gift card in place.   I also added another flower from the Springtime Foils DSP.

AstheInkDriesMiniTreat both

All of this fits in a Medium envelope.  It is a card/gift card all wrapped in a pretty little bag.

This is the last week of Sale-A-Bration.  There are so many great gifts you can choose from when you place a qualifying order.  It is also the perfect time to become a demonstrator.  The starter kit is priced at $99 and you get $125 in merchandise that you get to choose all the products yourself.  During Sale-A-Bration you will also receive your choice of 2 additional stamp sets.  It really is a great opportunity.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  Remember Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31!

Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #502

I have been enjoying the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit and used it for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #502.

AstheInkDriesCCMC502502

The kit contains lots of die cuts that are embossed with silver foil.  I used the cake die cut and colored in the flowers with markers to mimic the colors in the flower bouquet which is also part of the kit.  Included in the kit is the pretty Marina Mist scalloped velvet ribbon and the 1/8" silver and white washi tape.  It is quick and easy to create borders with the ribbon and washi.

AstheInkDriesCCMC502side

I  added a strip of Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP to tie the elements together and  finished the card with a bow and some silver sequins.   I have made other cards using the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit here and here .  The kit contains so many pretty images and embellishments and is a great to have to create beautiful cards.

CCMC502

I hope you will join in the fun and create a card with the sketch.   Check out the Create with Connie and Mary blog for all the information and to submit your card.

Time for the Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge!  Every other Tuesday I get to design a card for the design team for this fun challenge.  This week it is a sketch challenge.

Pocket Basket and the Easter Chick

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you might remember this little chick, if not check out this post.  I updated her a little and created a basket for her.

AstheInkDriesEasterChick

The basket was made with the Pocket Framelits and embossed with the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing folder.  Cut out 2 of the pockets and a strip that measures 1-1/2" x 7-1/2" scored at 2-1/4", 3-3/4", and 5-1/4".  This strip is what makes the pocket.  The handle is 1" x 7".   Emboss all the pieces and then use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Tear and Tape for the strip that connects the 2 pockets.

AtheInkDriesEasterChickside

I used the Layering Circle framlelits for the chick's body.  The wings are from the Blossom Builder Punch.  Her comb is also from the Blossom Builder punch.  Her eyes are black rhinestones that I had leftover from Halloween.  You can also color rhinestones using the Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. Her beak I cut freehand and her legs can also be cut freehand.  If you have the Bouquet Bunch Framelits you can use the single stem folded in half for her legs.

A Good Day and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #501

It is time for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge # 501!  This week it is a color challenge.

CCMC501

Color challenges are often harder for me than sketch challenges, not this time.  Why?  The answer is Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper.  Yes, this DSP is one of the many options available as a free gift during Sale-A-Bration and contain these exact colors.

Astheinkdriesccmc501

One side of the DSP coordinates beautifully with the Bubbles Over bundle in the Occasions catalog and the other side has more neutral designs like the ones I used in my card.   I used the A Good Day stamp set for the sweet little tree and sentiment.  This set is so cute and perfect for quick and easy cards.

AstheInkDriesCCMC501close

I colored in the image using Lemon Lime, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Markers.  I added the rhinestones which I colored with the Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends marker.

Remember you too can join in the challenge.  Go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog and enter your project.  While you are there be sure to check out what the other members of the design team created.
