Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Anything Goes

Blog hop header

Welcome to another Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  The theme this month is Anything Goes!

AstheInkDries-AccenterBlooms-GracefulGlassVellum

I decided to us one of my favorite sets, Accented Blooms.  The flowers were colored using Stampin' Blends.  I decided to try something different so I fussy cut around some of the flowers and then used one of the Layering Circle framelits to cut out the rest.

AstheInkDries-AccentedBlooms-GracefulGlassclose

I also hand cut a layer around the sentiment/tag punch to make it stand out more.  To tie everything together I layered a piece of the Graceful Glass vellum on black card stock and then added the Accented Blooms.  I always get asked how I secure  vellum without the adhesive showing.  I always try and hide the adhesive behind something, in this case I used SNAIL adhesive to attach the vellum to the card stock in the area I was going to place the flowers.  I also used the Black Baker's twine to to secure the vellum to the black card stock.

Hand Delivered for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge

This week the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge is using the sample on page 5 of the 2018-19 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog for inspiration.  You can use the sketch, the color combination, and/or the stamp set as the inspiration for your card.

CCMC514-1

I chose to use the layout for my card.

AstheInkDries-HandDleivered-CCMC514

I just received the fun Hostess set, Hand Delivered and thought she would be so cute on the front of this card.  This set spoke to me.  It is a little different from what I usually get and it adds a little whimsy and fun to my stamp shelf.  I know it will be a perfect set to use for the teachers and readers in my life.

I hope you will join in the challenge and create a card using the inspiration on page 5.  Be sure to go to the Create with Connie and Mary blog to get all the details on how to submit your card and also to see what the other members of the design team created.

5 New Things

This post should be called, how many new Stampin' Up! products can I use on one card.  The answer is I used 5.  This was not intentional.  If it were I would have used even more!  The struggle is real.  So many beautiful new products that it is hard to figure out what to focus on.

AstheInkDries-SubtleTIEF-TuftedTIEF

I used 3 new Big Shot items; Subtle TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing folder), Tufted TIEF, and the Delicate Lace Edgelits.   There are a lot of questions about the Subtle TIEF.  The best description is that it creates the look of a textured card stock.

AstheInkDries-SubtleTIEF-TuftedTIEF-close

It is perfectly named.  This may be the must have embossing folder.  I often want a little something that adds interest and texture but isn't too obvious and this embossing folder definitely does that.

AstheInkDries-TuftedTIEF

The Tufted TIEF adds the beautiful lines.  I used to create the same look using the Simply Scored, this is MUCH quicker and easier.

There are 3 designs in the Delicate Lace Edgelits.  They are all intricate and beautiful.  The dies are 6" long so they work for both portrait and landscape cards.  These dies were on the top of my list.  I think they can be overlooked since they are not associated with a stamp set.  They are on page 217 and are all gorgeous.

The other 2 new items are the Metallic Pearls and the 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon in Powder Pink.   The Metallic Pearls come in a pack that contains both silver and gold pearls.   They are all the same size 3mm which is the size of the smallest pearl in the Basic Pearl Jewels.  I seem the use the smallest pearls the most so this is just perfect.  There are so many new ribbons that it was hard for me to decide what to get.  I know you probably think I buy them all.  I usually buy a roll of each new type of ribbon.  I love the look of the 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon and purchased it in Berry Burst and Powder Pink.  I am so happy that the ribbon is soft and easy to tie.

I should have used a new stamp set for the sentiment.  The sentiment I used is from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.  Sentiments from the new Itty Bitty Greetings would have been perfect to use.  Next time for sure.

Hope you have enjoyed a look at 5 new things.  If you need any of these items click on the links and you will be taken to my online store or you can CLICK HERE. I would love to be your Stampin' Up! demonstrator!

Bunch of Blossoms in Poppy Parade

I seem to be posting later and later everyday!  I hope to get back on schedule soon.  Today's card is maybe one of my very favorites.  If you follow me at all, you know I love black and white cards with a pop of color, usually red.  When I saw that the former In Color, Poppy Parade was coming back to the Stampin' Up! Color Collections I was so happy.  Another fabulous color!

AstheInkDries-BunchofBlossoms

I used the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set and the coordinating Blossom Builder punch.  This is a easy card but not necessarily a quick one.  Punching the petals and assembling the flowers takes a bit of time but in my opinion it was worth it.   The black and white stripes are 3/4" strips of card stock.

AstheInkDries-BunchofBlossoms-side

The sentiment is from the Stitched All Around stamp set and the label was cut using the Stitched Labels Framelits.  These 2 products are also available as a bundle, Stitched All Around.   When you purchase a bundle you receive 10% off.   I added a few black sequins from the Metallics Sequin assortment.

I hope you like this card as much as I do.  If you are ready to add Poppy Parade to your life please shop with me online HERE.  Thank you and see you tomorrow!

Hello Lovely Lipstick!

Still playing around with the new colors.  Let me introduce you to Lovely Lipstick, a 2018-20 In Color.

AstheInkDries-LovelyLipstick-side

Here I paired Lovely Lipstick with Night of Navy & Early Espresso  (Neutrals Collection).  Isn't it just a beautiful color and perfectly named.  In fact this color would indeed make a lovely lipstick.  I also used another 2018-20 In Color Call Me Clover for the leaves.  The 2018-20 In Colors are bright, happy and  clean colors.

Swirly Scribbles in Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape

The new catalog is filled with so many beautiful  things that it can be hard to decide what to play with first.  I know, this is a GREAT problem to have!  I decided that I wanted to get acquainted with the new colors.  Yesterday's post I played with some new In Colors and today's post I am playing with some new core colors.

IMG_4817

I am very happy (and know that there are many of you who are too), that Stampin'  Up! has added some new purples!  Here I used Gorgeous Grape (Brights Collection)  and Highland Heather (Subtles Collection).  The leaves were punched using Granny Apple Green (Brights Collection).   I love stripes and florals together so I cut 3/4" wide strips of Highland Heather and Whisper White card stock and created my own background paper.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings set which is a must have sentiment set.  The tag I used to stamp the sentiment on is from the Stitched Labels framelits.  The "flowers" were cut out using the Swirly Scribbles thinlits and layered over a 1-1/4" circle.

I made this card to send to a member of my team to celebrate her Stampin' Up! anniversary!  I hope she will like it.

Accented Blooms and the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #513

This month on the Create with Connie & Mary Thursday Challenge the challenge is a little different.  Every week there will be a sample from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog that will be used as inspiration.  You can use the stamp set in the sample, the layout, the colors, or whatever you like from the sample to inspire your project.

The first inspiration sample is on page 48 and features the adorable platypus from the Postcard Pals stamp set.

CCMC513

I don't have this stamp set yet so I decided to use the layout as the inspiration for my card.

AstheInkDries-AccentedBlooms-CCMC513

I used the Accented Blooms stamp set and the Garden Impressions DSP.   I embossed the Accented Blooms flowers in white embossing powder on Shimmery White card stock.   I cut off the taller flowers and fussy cut around the flowers on the bottom of the tag.  I used an Aqua Painter and ink from the stamp pads to color in the flowers.  In the past we would squeeze the ink pad cover to transfer ink to the lid of the stamp pad.  It is difficult to do that with the new ink pads so I ink an acrylic block and use that as my palette.

I hope you will be inspired to participate in the challenge.  You can get all the details on how to enter the challenge here and be sure to check out what the other design team members created.

Animal Outing Pocket card

Have you seen the adorable Animal Outing stamp set on page 27 of the new catalog?  We were lucky to receive this set at the OnStage event in April.

AstheInkDries-AnimalOuting-66

I made this card in April and wished I had the super cute Animal Expedition DSP but luckily I had the Wood Textures DSP which also works beautifully.  AstheInkDries-AnimalOuting-66open

If you would like to make your own pocket card I have a tutorial you can check out here.   Pocket cards are also another favorite template of mine.  I guess it is pretty evident that I like using DSP (Designer Series Paper aka patterned paper) on my cards.

I just realized that the ribbon I used on this card is retired.  When I made this sample it was still available for purchase, sorry about that.  If you click on the product pictures above you will be taken to my online store except for the Old Olive ribbon.

Springtime Impressions Thinlits Split Card

Yesterday, I posted a card using the beautiful overlay die cut featured in the Springtime Impressions Thinlits.  Today I want to show you the butterfly die.

   AstheInkDries-SpringtimeImpressions-Split

Isn't she beautiful?  She measures just under 4" at her widest point and 2"in height.  I think she is pretty darn amazing!  In addition to the fabulous die I also used the new Garden Impressions  6" x 6" DSP (Designer Series Paper).  This new paper is bright and cheery and a perfect blend of patterns.  Another great thing about this paper pack is the color combinations.  Here I mixed Petal Pink with Calypso Coral based on the DSP.  Love those colors together!

AstheInkDries-SpringtimeImpressions-SplitCardside

Here you can see the "split" a little better.  This is one of my go to card templates.  It is a great way to show off both the beautiful Springtime Impressions butterfly and the Garden Impressions DSP.
