ICS Blog Hop...Petal Pink

ICS header

Welcome to the Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop!  This month we are hopping and sharing projects with the theme of It's a Girl Thing, Monochromatic style.

ASID-ICSApriljpeg

I have to tell you that it has been a struggle!  I had the hardest time figuring out what I wanted to make.  This is probably the 3rd or 4th thing I have made and well time is getting short so I am sticking with this one.

I am a fan of Petal Pink.  We haven't always gotten along but it has definitely grown on me and I use it a lot.   This is an easy and fun way to package a treat.

  • 5-3/4" x 9-3/4" piece of Petal Pink CS scored at 2-3/4" x 7"
  • Seal up the back creating a flat open ended packet
  • Use the Ornate Floral 3-D Embossing Folder and emboss a 4" x 5-1/2" piece of Petal Pink Vellum (Perennial Essence Vellum)
  • Create Petal Pink Vellum flowers using the Magnolia Memory dies and the Perennial Flower punch.  Layer the two smaller 3 petal dies, then the Perennial Flower punch, and then the center in Petal Pink CS.  The circle in the middle of the flower is Petal Pink CS heat embossed with a mix of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and Clear Embossing Powder.
  • Attach the flowers to the embossed piece of Petal Pink Vellum using Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Use glue dots or dots of liquid glue and apply to the back of the vellum where the flowers are.  This will prevent adhesive from showing through when you attach it to the packet.  Now adhere it to the front of the Petal Pink packet.
  • Punch a hole in the center near the top of the packet (punching through the front and the back).  Insert one end of the Petal Pink ribbon through both holes. Place the brownie mix in the packet between the ribbon.  Push the brownie mix down into the packet until it is hidden.  Tie a bow at the top and cut the ribbon
  • Stamp in VersaMark ink the sentiment on Petal Pink CS and sprinkle White Embossing powder.  Emboss using the Heat Tool.  Cut out using the die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  Attach it to the front using a Stampin' Dimensional.

This would make a great little favor or gift for a friend or co-worker.  Think of all the different kind of treats you could package like this!  Now it is time to check out what the talented Deb Naylor has made for you.

On to Adventure

Time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge!  This week we have a color challenge.

CCMC605

I haven't played with the On to Adventure stamp set in quite a while and knew that it would be fun to color my favorite character from the stamp set using these colors.

ASID-CCMC605

I did a little masking and have her holding balloons instead of her suitcase.  The balloons are from the Special Someone set and cut out using the Special Days dies.  The Special Days dies are part of the Coordination Product Release and like Sale-A-Bration will end March 31.  I have had so much fun with the set and the coordinating dies.

ASID-CCMC605-side

The sentiment is from the For the Love of Felt stamp set which coordinates with the For the Love of Felt Project kit.  The For the Love of Felt Project kit is one of my favorite kits.  The cards you make are so pretty and you can choose to make them exactly like the kit directs or do your own thing.  A kit may be just what you need during this time of social distancing.  You can order it and other paper crafting supplies directly from my online store and have it delivered to your home.

More From My Heart Specialty DSP

It has been a week full of hearts and flowers!  Finishing up the week with one more card using the From My Heart Specialty DSP.

ASID-BeMineframe

Just like my card on Monday, it is just dies and no stamping.   Let's break down the card.

  • Real Red card base 4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2"
  • From My Heart Specialty DSP 4" x 5-1/4"
  • Flirty Flamingo CS cut using the Stitched So Sweetly die-the largest rectangle.  Cut out a frame using the Stitched Rectangle dies.  Layer this on to the From My Heart DSP using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Whisper White CS cut using the same Stitched Rectangle die used in the prior step.  Insert and adhere it inside of the Flirty Flamingo frame.
  • Real Red "love" cut using the Well Written dies adhered to the Whisper White CS
  • Real Red CS cut the long hearts die from the Stitched Be Mine dies.  Set aside the solid hearts.
  • This is the kind of "fiddly" step.  Attach the heart outline to the frame & inside of the frame using mini dimensionals.  Place the dimensionals behind the cutouts you will fill in with the solid hearts.  Place the hearts inside of the heart outlines, covering up the dimensionals.
  • Cut out Whisper White flowers using the Lovely Flowers dies.
  • Cut out Old Olive leaves using the small leaves die in the Cherry Blossom dies
  • Glue the leaves to the backs of the flower and then secure the flowers to frame using mini dimensionals.  I also used a few flowers to help secure the heart outline to the frame.
  • Place Red Rhinestones in the center of the flowers.
  • Whisper White CS 4" x 5-1/4" adhered to the inside of the card.
  • 1/2" x 4" strip of DSP to the Whisper White CS inside of the card.  Attach a couple of hearts to the strip.

ASID-BeMineframe-side

Yes, it does get a little fussy attaching the hearts and I probably won't make a ton of these but I sure love how it turned out.  If I come up with a better way to attach the hearts I will let you know.

Merry Moose

First off let me apologize that I am using the Moose punch which is no longer available for purchase.  The Merry Moose stamp set is still available.

AstheInkDries-MerryMooseCCMCjpeg

When we lived in Spokane, WA,  I remember reading in the paper there was a moose who had been hanging around a park near the river so I prepared a picnic dinner and we went out there in search of the moose.  We walked all along the trail, at the time of day he had been known to show up and well you guessed it, no moose.  We had a nice picnic dinner and came home.  I never saw a moose the whole time we lived there.

I am not sure what brought this all to mind when I saw the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #CCMC587.  It is funny how the mind works.

CCMC587

The moose was stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card stock and then punched out using the Moose punch.  The moose is not too detailed so it shouldn't be too difficult to fussy cut.  The scarf was stamped using Pretty Peacock ink on Pretty Peacock card stock and fussy cut.   The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, a most useful set that pretty much has every sentiment you might need.

AstheInkDries-11-14SDBCside

The leaves are from the Seasonal Layers dies and I love not cleaning out all the pieces of the detailed leaf.  It creates an interesting look.  The Cajun Craze card stock was embossed using the Swirls & Curls folder.  Can you believe this already embossed piece of card stock was in my scrap folder?!  It was just waiting for me, unlike the moose.

I am loving this color combination!  It is definitely a keeper.  Be sure to check out what the other members of the Create with Connie & Mary design team created for this challenge.  So many great ideas using this combination of colors!

Good Morning Magnolia and some Catching Up!

It feels like a long time since I last blogged and in fact it has been.  We have been on a trip and I scheduled some posts while I was gone so it has been a while since I have written.

First, a card that I made a while ago but I don't think I shared.

AstheInkDries-GoodMorningMagnolia

The card base is from the Bird Ballard Laser-Cut Cards & Tin.  These card bases are so pretty and don't require much to make beautiful cards.  I lined the the front of the card with Petal Pink card stock cut just a little bit smaller than the front panel.  The label is from the Stitched Nested Label dies stamped with a sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia set.  The magnolia bud image (Good Morning Magnolia set) was stamped using Memento ink and colored using Petal Pink Stampin' Blends and Old Olive Stampin' Blends.  In an effort to keep my cards flatter, I  cut 5 " of the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon and folded it in half and tucked the fold under the label.  These ribbon tails add a little something to the card but little bulk.  A couple of Gold Metallic Pearls finish off the embellishments.

AstheInkDries-GoodMorningMagnolia-side

While I was away Stampin' Up! released the new Paper Trimmer.  I purchased it and I like it!  One thing that is a big improvement is the scoring blade.  It creates a nice clean score  line with just one pass and very little pressure.  I noticed the Trimmer is a lighter in weight which is a plus when packing up for some off-site crafting.  I will report more as I gain more experience with the trimmer.

Happy Halloween Wild Roses

Happy Halloween!  Hope your day is full of treats!  This week the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge is a color challenge.

CCMC585

I have never paired Terracotta Tile with Pumpkin Pie but they go together quite nicely!

AstheInkDries-CCMC585

I brayered Terracotta Tile ink on to Pumpkin Pie cardstock using the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks.   I have been enjoying using the masks to create my own patterned paper especially the polka dots.

The outline of the roses were stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  The bolder more filled in rose image was inked in Pumpkin Pie ink.  The accent stamp was inked with Terracotta Tile.  To a Wild Rose is one of my favorite Two-Step  stamp sets, when all the steps are complete the rose is so beautifully shaded.

AstheInkDries-CCMC585sidejpeg

Now I will be honest, I am not sure about the black leaves.  Once I added the leaves  the whole card began to look very Halloweenish to me.  I decided to go with it since this post will go live on Halloween.

Have a fun Halloween and be sure to check out the treats the other members of the design team created.

Country Home and the Come to Gather DSP

The Country Home stamp set is quick and easy to color and it works for so many different occasions.  I love the little sentiments you can stamp in the label and the larger sentiments too.  It is great paired up with the Come to Gather DSP (Designer Series Paper).

AstheInkDries-CountryHome-CometoGather

I colored the image using Stampin' Blends and then with some Clear Wink of Stella.  The label on the pitcher was stamped,  fussy cut and added to the pitcher using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I had some itty bitty rhinestones in my stash that I used on the label.

This card has a little surprise, in the way that it opens.

AstheInkDries-CountryHome-CometoGathersidejpeg

The front panel folds down to reveal the inside of the card and sentiment.  Just something a little different to keep things fun.

AstheInkDries-CountryHome-CometoGatherinside

I most recently used the Country Home stamp set in my Autumn sampler.  If you are looking for a set with great images that are easy to color and has lots of sentiments that you can mix and match, check out the Country Home stamp set.

Band Together and the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge!  Love the sketch for this week's challenge.

CCMC584

Recently I re-organized my craft table.  One of the things I moved was where I stored my note cards, Scalloped Note Cards and the ever so lovely Bird Ballad Laser-Cut cards.  They are now on my craft table and what I can see I will more likely use.

AstheInkDries-CCMC584 (1)

Isn't it great when so much of a card's design is done for you.  The intricate card front is simply  gorgeous.  I layered a piece of Petal Pink card stock to the inside of the front of the card.  Why?  For one, to add a little more color and two, to cover up the adhesive that would show through from the things I attached to the front.

The Band Together flowers were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored using Petal Pink and Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends.  The larger flower was cut out using the Detailed Bands die (part of the Band Together bundle) . The smaller flower was fussy cut, fortunately the flower is not very fussy at all.  The leaf was stamped on a piece of Old Olive card stock and cut out using the Detailed Bands dies.

AstheInkDries-CCMC584side

Did you notice the little gold dots?  They are glitter gold enamel dots!  Don't look for them in the catalogs, they are an embellishment that is being released on November 1, part of the Christmastime is here suite.   They are subtle little dots of gold sparkle-love!

Be sure to check out what the other members of the Create with Connie & Mary design team created for this challenge!

Festive Friday Challenge #FF0045

Ahhh, it is Friday and time for the Festive Friday Challenge #FF0045.  The festivity that is inspiring the Inspo List is the Day of the Dead.  All I have to do is pick a minimum of 3 items from the Inspo list to use on my project. This change to the Festive Friday Challenge makes me SO happy and in my opinion so much easier to play along with the challenge.  Check out the Inspo list.

FFoo45

I loved the Inspo list for this challenge, I may have even gotten a little carried away.

AstheInkDries-FF45

From the Inspo list I used black, bright colors, sparkle, flowers, stencils & wreaths.  This card was so much fun to make.  It was great to mix products from the Holiday catalog and some from the 2019-20 Stampin' Up!® Annual catalog.  The fabulous products in the Annual catalog often get forgotten with the introduction of the Holiday catalog.  I am trying to mix it up a bit.

AstheInkDries-FF0045side

The sparkly black wreath was cut from a little scrap of black glimmer paper that I had leftover and isn't currently available from Stampin' Up!.  If you like the glittery look and do not have any glimmer paper in the right color, you can heat emboss the card stock with a mix of clear embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  I keep a little container of this mix so I can add glitter and shine to any color.

Click here for a tutorial I made for this card.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.  Listed below are all the products used to make this card.  If you are interested in any of the products just click on the picture and you will be whisked away to my online store.

Daisy Lane and the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge

The Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #CCMC583 has a fun color combination for this week's challenge.

CCMC583

Isn't this a great color combination?

AstheInkDries-CCMC583

These are such happy colors!  I used  Pretty Peacock as the card base and Bermuda Bay DSP (6" x 6" Brights DSP pack) for the patterned paper.  (I realize that the Bermuda Bay looks more like turquoise, I just couldn't get the lighting just right).  I stacked 2 of the Medium Daisy punches and slightly offset them to create the daisies.  The daisy centers are Old Olive foil which is part of the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets.  The Old Olive leaves were cut using the Nature's Roots dies.  I love this  leaf  because there is a die to cut the leaf and another to emboss the vein details, the leaf looks so realistic.  I arranged the daisies so that 2 are on the belly band and one is attached to the card.

AstheInkDries-CCMC583sidejpeg

Isn't this a great way to show off the Designer Series Paper (aka DSP)?  If you are interested I have a tutorial HERE on the basic fold to make this card.  The sentiment on the front of the card is from the On to Adventure stamp set and the happy birthday is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

Be sure to check out what the other members of the Create with Connie & Mary design team created for this Color Challenge.  Thanks for stopping by!
