On to Adventure and the Festive Friday Challenge #FF0040

I am still shining the spotlight on the On to Adventure stamp set and it is a perfect fit for the Festive Friday Challenge!

FestiveFriday0040

These senior citizens are on the GO!  They are ready for their next adventure!

AstheInkDries-FF0040

I wanted to frame our lovable couple so I used the Stitched Be Mine dies in Whisper White and Granny Apple Green.  I wasn't able to fit her suitcase on the heart so it was fussy cut and hangs over the edge of the heart.

This is the last On to Adventure project I will be sharing, at least for a little bit.  I think it is a great addition to any stamp collection and really celebrates one of the BIG changes in a person's life.  Hope you have enjoyed this Product Spotlight!

Hope you will join in the Festive Friday Challenge!  I would love to see your project on the Festive Friday blog.

On To Adventure & the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge 573

It is Thursday and time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge.

CCMC573

I have been shining the spotlight in the On to Adventure stamp set and realized I haven't used one stamp yet, so I had to get to work.

AstheInkDries-OnToAdventure-golfgift

What do you think?  Don't you love this little golf guy?  Isn't he so sporty with his Grapefruit Grove pants & Pretty Peacock shirt?  This reminded me of the days when it was very fashionable for men to wear really loud outfits on the golf course.  Memories of my dad in bright yellow pants!  Brings a smile  to my face.  Are you wondering, where is the Sahara Sand?  I used it to color his hair and also  the scalloped circle is Sahara Sand.

We are going on an overnight golf trip.  I thought this would be a fun favor for the men folk in the group.  Now I just have to convince my husband to give up some of his golf balls to finish them.

ICS Blog Hop...Friend Like You

ICS header

Welcome to the Inspire, Create & Share Blog Hop!  This month we are focusing on Beautiful Bundles.  What does that mean?  In the Stampin' Up!® catalog there are bundles of products which are typically a stamp set and either a punch or dies.  You can see all the bundles starting on page 4 of the Annual Catalog.   I chose to focus on the Friend Like You bundle.

 Stamp set Friend Like You

This bundle intrigued me.  I love a set with images and sentiments especially if the sentiments are a little different.  This bundle of products will be featured on my blog in a Product Spotlight soon.

AstheInkDries-FriendLikeYou-ICS2

This is a bridge card and does fold flat for mailing and makes a great stage for a scene. This is a typical scene here in the Pacific Northwest.  I have way too many pictures of herons.  They still make me very happy when I see them while out on a walk.   The heron silhouette is from the Lakeside dies but I couldn't resist adding him to my scene.

Here are some basic measurements.

    Card base- 4-1/4" x 7-1/2" scored at 1-1/4", 2-1/2", 5-1/2" &  6-3/4"

    Bridge- 1-1/4" x  5-1/2"

AstheInkDries-FriendLikeYou-ICS1jpeg

The middle panel and sentiment was sponged using Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Mango Melody, and Terracotta Tile.  Love this technique and it is easy to do.

AstheInkDries-FriendLikeYou-ICS3

On the back of the middle panel I have a 2-3/4" x 4" Whisper White panel where I can write a little note.  I love that this card is stable enough to stand on its own and yet folds up nicely for mailing.

It is time to hop on over the see what the talented Audra Monk has created for you.

On To Adventure Pillow Box

I wanted to make a quick little gift for a friend who is leaving on vacation.  I knew my favorite gal from the On to Adventure stamp set would be perfect for the tag but what kind of box?  I did a quick look around the Craft Cubbie (the name I have given my stamp room cause it is pretty small) and found some Kraft Pillow Boxes. They were  perfect for what I wanted to give her.

I did some quick coloring with Stampin' Blends, die cut a few circles, and tied a pretty Poppy Parade ribbon around the box and I was done!

AstheInkDries-OnToAdventure-pillowbox

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.  Are you wondering what I put inside the box?  Well I should have taken a picture before I sealed it up but I put in some chocolate, a coffee gift card and some aspirin.  Consider it a travel emergency kit!

On to Adventure Easel card & tutorial

I have a fun card today featuring the On to Adventure stamp set and a tutorial.

AstheInkDries-OntoAdventure-easeltute4

This easel card is fashioned after an easel card I made for the Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop.  Here's the card.

AstheInkDries-PPPBH-OnMyMindside

I received a lot of questions on how I made this card so i thought I would do  a quick tutorial for you.

I am starting with a pre-made card base.  The one I am using is not currently available.

    1.  Use a paper trimmer and cut starting from the middle (2-3/4") of  the card fold  to the bottom edge of the front of the  card base.  Once you understand the basics of this card you can choose to make your easel different sizes.

AstheInkDries-OntoAdventure-easeltute2 (1)

    2.  Score one of flaps (card front) at 2-1/8".  Apply adhesive to the other flap and secure.

AstheInkDries-OntoAdventure-easeltute2a

    3.   Stamp the image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock and color using Stampin' Blends.  Cut the image out using the Stitched Shapes dies.  Cut a coordinating scalloped circle from the Layering Circles framelits in Soft Suede ink.

    4. Stamp "Congratulations" sentiment with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a 3/4" x 3-1/2" strip of Whisper White card stock.   Line up the strip so it lines up with the edge of the closed flap and attach the other end to the Soft Suede scalloped circle.

    5.  Fussy cut the leaves and rose images from the Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP. Arrange some roses and leaves around  the main image and attach them to the back of the Whisper White stitched circle.  Sandwich the flowers and leaves with the Soft Suede scalloped circle

    6.  Attach a flower and leaf to the back of the sentiment strip.

AstheInkDries-OntoAdventure-easeltute3

    7.  Cut a 1/2" x 2-3/4" strip of DSP and attach it to the inside of the card.  Stamp "Follow your Bliss!"  on Whisper White card stock and cut out using the Layering Circles dies.  Cut a coordinating Soft Suede scalloped circle.  Adhere the Whisper White circle on to the Soft Suede.  Attach it to the DSP strip using a Stampin' Dimensional.  This will act as the "stop" for the easel.

Now you know how to make an easel card.  It is easy and now you can play around with different widths and orientations of your easels.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and spotlight on the On to Adventure stamp set!  If you have any questions please leave me a comment.  Here's a list of the supplies I used.  You can click on any link and it will take you to my online store. Thank you!

Product Spotlight: OnTo Adventure

This week the spotlight is shining on the On to Adventure stamp set.

Product spotlight on to adventure

Super fun images and great sentiments made this a must have stamp set for me.  I am so happy that there is a little golfer dude in this set.  A lot of the men folk I know do not fish or hunt but they do golf so this set will come in handy.

AstheInkDries-OntoAdventureB&W

This sweet lady is probably my favorite.  I just love her sass!  Those glasses are the best and she is on the move!  I colored her using Stampin' Blends.  I sure do enjoy coloring with the Blends.  Are you wondering what paper pack the  black and white stripe is from?  I made it with 3/4" strips of card stock.  This is a great way to use up those scraps.

For the Love of Felt for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge 572

This week the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge is a sketch.

CCMC572

This sketch was perfect for me to use the For the Love of Felt Project kit.

AstheInkDries-CCMC572jpeg

This card is really a scaled down version of card #3 (it will be on the blog on Friday, August 2 )in the For the Love of Felt project kit.  It really was perfect for this challenge.   This card came together quickly.  All I did was stamp the sentiment and 2 Sahara Sand sprigs.  Everything else was ready to assemble from the kit.
