2020 Aug-Dec Catalog

Dragonfly Garden and Plaid Tidings

Today's project features something new and something soon to be retired.  The something new is the Dragonfly Garden stamp set, which will be featured in the upcoming 2021  January-June Mini Catalog.  The something that will be retiring soon is the black and white plaid from the Plaid Tidings DSP.  The Plaid Tidings DSP will be retiring on January 4th 2021.

DragonflyGarden-PlaidTidings

The Butterfly Beauty dies were used to cut out a few butterflies out of  Black Glitter paper.  The Black Glittered Organdy ribbon was used to add even more sparkle to the card.

DragonflyGarden-PlaidTidings-open

You know I like to dress up the inside of my cards so a partial stamping of the image, a strip of Plaid Tidings DSP, and a sparkly butterfly completes the card.

I am slowing getting back in my stamp room.  Still need to put away Christmas and get ready for 2021!  I think we are all looking forward to the promise of 2021!  Thanks for stopping by!

Stampers Dozen Blog Hop...Holiday Happenings

SDBH Banner

Welcome to the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop!  The theme this month is Holiday Happenings.  Here we will be enjoying lots of family time and being cozy at home.  How about you?

ComingHome-SDBHDec

I made a little pocket using the Trimming the Town DSP.  This DSP is great to use in this way since it has such fun designs on both sides of the paper.  You just need to make sure that the design is going in the correct direction.  I cut the DSP 4" x 11" and scored it at 1-1/4" & 5-1/2".  This is a little narrower than the usual A-2 card but these measurements uses the DSP a little more efficiently and allows me to get 3 of these pockets from 1 sheet of DSP.  The card is held together by the Real Red Sheer ribbon.  The sides of the pocket are not glued together.

ComingHome-SDBHDec-open

The sentiments are from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set.  The Real Red layer measures 5-1/4" x 3-3/4" and the Whisper White measures 5-1/8" x 3-5/8".  All the corners were rounded using the Detailed Trio punch.

This card is a great way to use the beautiful Designer Series Paper that Stampin' Up!® offers.  The only leftover you have is a 1" x 12" strip.

Now it is time for you to check out what the talented Carol Payne has created for you!

Tag Buffet

It has been a busy, busy week here on the blog and I am ending the week with a fun Festive Friday Challenge.

FF-75

The Festive Friday Challenge is the one with the Inspo list.  To participate in the challenge all you need to do is create a project using 3 of the items on the list.  Your card doesn't need to be a Christmas projects but it does need to have 3 items from the list.  There are a few other rules and you can see them here.

I chose to use red, green, bells and tags from the list.  I kind of cheated a bit by using the Tag Buffet kit.  There was very little stamping involved except for the sentiments

TagBuffet-FF74-

Earlier in the fall I purchased this black wooden sled.  I didn't have any particular project in mind I just thought it was cute and might be fun to decorate.  It unfortunately just sat in my craft room sad and neglected.  I was cleaning up a bit and found the sled and 2 tags fit perfectly on it.  Another example of craft room kismet.   Now the sleigh is happy , no longer sad and neglected and hanging on the front door.

Now be sure to check out what the rest of the Festive Friday design team created  #FF0074 Christmas.

Ornamental Envelopes Wreath

From the first time I saw the wreath sample made using the Ornamental Envelopes stamp set (page 40 of the J-J2020 Mini Catalog), I knew I had to make it.  Well, it is finally the day!

OrnamentalEnvelopes-CCMC642

I stamped the leaf images 3 times to create the wreath.  I chose not to use a positioner of any kind and was surprised how easy it was to create the wreath.  I also used the Envelope Dies (retiring and on the Year-End Close Out List at 40% off, while supplies last).  I am keeping these dies in my permanent collection.  Love the look of DSP on my envelopes and as a liner, it is also a great way to use my DSP that has retired.

CCMC642

This CASE of the catalog was perfect for this week's Create with Connie & Mary Challenge. The skinnier leaf image was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink, the  bolder leaf image was inked in Pear Pizzazz and the little dots were stamped in Real Red ink.  The sentiment from the Festive Post set (retiring ) was stamped in Real Red ink.  The pretty Real Red bow was made using the Real Red 3/8" Sheer Ribbon which will be returning in the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog.  After January 5th it will not be available for purchase until the J-D 2021 Mini Catalog goes live.  I am thinking that I just might need another roll of this pretty ribbon for my Valentine's cards.

The Heartwarming Hugs DSP is another product that will become available again when the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog goes live.  This paper is great for the holidays but also works year round.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Create with Connie & Mary Design team created for this challenge.

New at SU...Fireside Trimmings

NewatSUbanner

It is time for the New at SU! Hop Through!  This month the theme is Warm and Cozy.  What comes to mind when you think of being warm and cozy?    The first thing that came to my mind was sitting by the fireplace, so I turned to the Firside Trimmings bundle for my card.  This bundle is being retired (no longer available after January 4, 2021 or while supplies last) on the Year-End Close Out list and the dies are 30% off.

FiresideTrimmings-New

I have really enjoyed creating with the Fireside Trimmings stamp set and dies.   The stamp set is adorable but it was the different banners in the Fireside dies that really made me happy.  I have said it before...the bat garland!  For today's card I used both the greenery and the star banners along with the lanterns and the trees to decorate the mantel.  The fireplace was stamped on a sheet from the In Good Taste DSP pack and cut out using the dies.  I used a piece of Plush Poinsettia Specialty paper  (also on the Year-End closeout) for the "wallpaper", just to be fancy.

FiresideTrimmings-New-up

You know I love an easel card.  This one measures 2-1/8" wide, just a smidge narrower than the fireplace.  The Basic Black CS measures 2-1/8" x 6", scored at 2-1/8" and 5-3/8".

Now it is time for you to hop on to see what the creative  Mary Ann Kay has created for you!

Plush Poinsettia

Do you like non traditional colors for your Christmas cards or are you more of a traditionalist?  I am all over the place on this issue.  Today's card is definitely a little wild and bright!

Poinsettia-Magenta

This gorgeous Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper is part of the Year End Close Out that starts on Tuesday the 8th.  There are so many items on the Close Out list and many are available at a  big discount.  I encourage you to shop early to avoid being disappointed.  Products are only available while supplies last.

I have made this card style many times but I think this is the first time I used vellum for the sleeve.  The Poinsettia Dies were used to cut out the flowers in Magenta Madness, Vellum Card Stock and Whisper White.

Poinsettia-Magenta-out

The sentiment is  from the Dove of Hope stamp set.  This set is retiring and will no longer be available after January 4th.

Be sure to check out the Year-End Close Out and if you have any question please contact me.

Sweetest Time

It is Fun Fold Friday!  I have been playing around with the Bridge card.  This is a very fun card that folds flat for mailing and still stands up so nicely.

SweetestTime-Bridgecard

This is the Sweetest Time Bundle . The card base is Mossy Meadow and measures 4-1/4" x 8", scored at 1-1/4", 2-1/2"5-1/2", &  6-3/4".  The little polka dot paper  is from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP and measures 1" x 4". The sentiment is stamped on a 2-3/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White CS.  It is important to adhere this panel before you attach the "bridge".  I cut the Sweetest Borders die in Pear Pizzazz CS  so the length measures 5-1/2".  The  bottom portion of the holly is backed with a strip of Mossy Meadow CS and the holly berries were filled in with Real Red CS.  In the next picture you will see how the holly strip is attached to the card base.

SweetestTime-Bridgecard-top

The candles were stamped in Real Red and Daffodil Delight ink and then fussy cut out.  You can see that the candles were attached to the "bridge"  using pieces of Stampin' Dimensionals.  I attached a 2-3/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White CS to the back of the card where I can write a little note.

Thank you for stopping by, below is a list of all the product used with links to my store.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley

This week the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge is a sketch.

CCMC641

I decided to use the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley.  The Product Medley has a stamp set, dies, DSP, gold foil card fronts, sticker sheets, gold star embellishments, and a super fun eyelash fringe tinsel trim.  One of the best things is that there is a refill kit for the Product Medley.

MostWonderfulTime-CCMC641

I used the deer and tree cardstock stickers for my focal point.  I used one of my favorite papers in the Product Medley for the background.  Many of the papers contain gold foil accents, which adds shine and a little glitz to the card.

MostWonderfulTIme-CCMC641-side

The gold stars are also in the Product Medley and you get 58 of them.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I used 2 different embossing folders, Scripty 3D and Tasteful Textile (one of my favorites).

Christmas Gleaming Holly

I planned to get up early and post to the blog.  After I got my cup of coffee brewed the power went out!  I am grateful that it waited at least until I had a cup of coffee made or it would have been worse.  It was a little too dark to read and my phone was only half charged so I decided that I would get my daily walk done.  I bundled up and headed out and yes, it was cold.  The one good thing I noticed about my cold morning walk is that I walked a little faster than usual.  Shortly after I got home the power came on, yay!  Not having the lights on or heat, puts things in perspective real quick.

We started decorating the house.  The tree and stockings are up and some assorted other things and it is looking a little more festive in here.  I'm working on getting in the Christmas spirit.

ChristmasGleaming-holly

I used the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and stamped the holly multiple times and then colored in the image using Shaded Spruce and Real Red Stampin' Blends.  The sentiment is also from the Christmas Gleaming set.  The stamp actually reads "& be jolly this season".  I left off the & and inked the rest.  The twine is from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack.  The sparkly gems are part of the Flowers for Every Season Gems.

Festive Friday Winter Solstice

Do you know what the significance of the Winter Solstice is?  Here it marks the day with the shortest amount of daylight.  I don't really celebrate the Winter Solstice but I probably should because what it also means is that the daylight hours will start getting longer!  I am all for that.

The Winter Solstice is the inspiration behind the Festive Friday's Inspo List.

118136529_10217922959085736_3733118035146324592_n

To play along with the Festive Friday Challenge all  you need to do is pick 3 items from the list and use it on your project and then post it to the Festive Friday Gallery.   It is easy and fun and we would love to see how the Inspo list inspires you!

FF73-shaker

I was inspired to use the items blue, snowflakes, and trees on my shaker card. Inside the window created by the So Many Snowflakes die, I used the Feels Like Frost DSP .  I added Snowflake Sequins and some of those little silica gel beads (dehumidifier packets) for the shaker elements.   The outside of the frame is embossed using the Winter Snow Embossing folder.  In the center of the snowflakes I placed some sparkly Blue Adhesive Backed gems.

FF73-shakerside

Making a shaker card is easy using Foam Adhesive Strips.  I use the strips to create a frame for my shaker elements and since they are double stick I also used it to adhere the Window sheet to close up the frame.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created using the Inspo List.
