2020 Best Plaid Builder

Special Someone in Plaid

It is hard to believe it is already September!  We are just a few weeks away from the official First Day of Fall on September 22.  The Festive Friday Challenge is using the first day of Fall for the inspiration for the items on the Inspo List.

ASID-FF67

To play in the Festive Friday Challenge you need to use at least 3 items from the Inspo List on your project.   You can make a card, 3D item, layout almost any project as long as it includes at least 3 items from the list.

FF0067

Can you see all the items I used on my card?  I used leaves, acorns, squirrel, plaid, gold, green, and brown.  Here are the colors I used.

FF67-color

A very Fall color palette.  The plaid background was created using the Best Plaid Builder dies.   The Gold Foil in the plaid and leaves adds some extra shine and brightens up the card.  The Gold Foil leaves were cut using the Nature's Roots dies.  Love that the dies include one to cut and another to emboss the leaves.

The sweet critters are from the Special Someone stamp set and cut out using the coordinating Special Day dies.  The acorn was stamped and punched out using the Beautiful Autumn bundle.  The Beautiful Autumn bundle includes 3 punches that coordinate with the stamp set.  The sentiment is from the Many Mates stamp set.

Forever Fern in Plaid

It is Thursday which means it is time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.

ASID-CCMC628

This week it is a color challenge,  Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, and Just Jade.  Another great color combination and another  opportunity to use the Best Plaid Builder dies.   The card base is a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of  Thick Whisper White cardstock.

I paired the fun plaid background with the Forever Fern bundle.  The leaves in this stamp set are gorgeous and have beautiful shading because they are Distinktive stamps.  Not sure I have ever seen Night of Navy leaves but well, you never know!  The sentiment was stamped with Pretty Peacock ink and is also from the Forever Fern stamp set.

The ribbon is the 3/8" Denim ribbon.  This ribbon is soft, not bulky and very easy to work with.  The gems are  the Blue Adhesive Backed Gems found in the 2020 August-December Mini Catalog.  The gems come in Night of Navy and Balmy Blue.  There are a 120 gems in a pack: 30 each of 2 colors in 2 sizes.  Love it!

Below you will find a list of all the products I used.  Thank you for stopping by!

ICS Blog Hop...Prized Peony

ICS header

Hello Friends!  Welcome to the Inspire, Create & Share Blog Hop!  This month we are sharing our favorite bundles from the 2020 Stampin' Up!® Annual catalog.  Can I say it is impossible for me to truly say what my favorite bundle is? My favorite is usually the bundle I am currently playing with.  Right now I am stamping with the Prized Peony bundle so it is my favorite.

ASID-ICS-PrizedPeony

I think I am pretty clever cause you see how I also used part of another bundle?  Yup, I am tricky that way.  I used the Best Plaid Builder dies part of the Best Year bundle for the background.  The Best Plaid Builder dies are another favorite of mine and I use them a lot.  They are fun to use and you can just mix and match colors to suit your whim.  Here I used Vellum cardstock  and Petal Pink cardstock  to create the plaid.  Love how the vellum and Petal Pink just makes the plaid look soft and kind of dreamy.

I stamped the peony in Gray Granite ink and used a Blender Pen to color in the leaves and stem.   I didn't use any ink other than what was stamped. The flowers were colored using the Light Calypso Coral and the Petal Pink Combo Stampin' Blends.

I added some Gray Granite 1/4" Shimmer Ribbon.  This ribbon is so pretty and has a subtle silver shimmer to it.  I also added some Elegant Faceted Gems.  These gems come in Clear, Petal Pink, and pearlescent white, 15 of each in 2 different sizes.  I used the smaller size on today's card.  The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White on a Stitched Rectangle in Basic Gray ink.  I used a post-it note to cover up the bottom part of the sentiment and then inked the stamp,  remove the post-it (very important step-ask me how i know) and then stamp it on the Whisper White cardstock.

Just a look inside the card showing another peony image from the set.  I used the same coloring tools as I used on the other peony.

Now it is time for you to hop on over to see what Deb Naylor has created for you!  I know you will love it!

I have listed below all the products I used to create my card.  Enjoy the hop!

Stampers Dozen Blog Hop...the Man, the Myth, the Legend

SDBH Banner

Welcome to the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop!  This month our theme is The Man, The Myth, The Legend!  When I saw this theme I knew exactly what products I wanted to use for the hop.

ASID-SDBHJune20

I was looking forward to using both the Beautiful World bundle and the Best Plaid Builder dies for my card. I also used the World of Good Specialty DSP which helped me chose the colors to use. On this card I used Cinnamon Cider as my card base and the plaid in Early Espresso and World of Good DSP.  I knew I wanted to use the new Brass Foil for the globe stand but I was a little stumped on what to use for the globe.

ASID-SDBHJnue20-close

I was looking through my cardstock, DSP and found the Rainbow Glimmer Paper and knew I found the perfect paper.  I used the section that is transitioning from Granny Apple Green to Bermuda Bay.  It is very glittery and it adds just the right amount of sparkle to the card.  After all the world is a sparkly place.

ASID-SDBHJune20-sidejpeg

I used one of the Stitched Rectangles for the label and created a couple of faux brads by punching out a couple of circles out of the Brass Foil.

Since I had everything out I decided to create one more card using the same products.

ASID-SDBHJune20-card2jpeg

This is basically the same card front except I used Early Espresso for the card base, Cinnamon Cider and World of Good Specialty DSP for the plaid.

ASID-SDBHJune20-card2open

When the card opens, there is a simple easel. Used a Stitched Rectangle die for the stopper and again a couple of faux  brads.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my projects. Here is a list of all the stops on the Hop!  Enjoy!
