A Special Someone Get Well

I never seem to have any get well cards in my stash.  I guess I don't like to think about any of my friends needing one.

ASID-Specialsomeone-getwell

Do you think this cutie will help bring a smile to someone not feeling their best?  I sure hope so!

In the Special Someone set  there are skinny images that need to be cut out, like the flower stems and the balloon strings.  When I first cut out the flowers my stems were not being cut properly.  Here's how I solved that problem.

  1.  Place your stamp image side down on your table.  Place the block over the stamp and press down to stick it to the block.  Why?  Sometimes   Photopolymer stamps can be stretched  when you place them on the block making them not line up properly with the die.
  2.  Stamp your image.  Line up the die on the image.  Take care to line up the flower and then look through the hole at the bottom of the die.  If you   can you see the ink through it, you are lined up properly.  If you see the cardstock then you need to shift the die.

  ASID-SpecialSpmeone-Feb27right    ASID-SpecialSomeone-Feb27wrong

Try it and let me know how it works for you.  These 2 tips have made cutting out the Special Someone images with the Special Days Dies so much easier.

Small Bloom Punch

This is going to sound strange but this is the first time I used the Small Bloom Punch!  This punch is currently available as one of the 2020 Sale-A-Bration choices with a $100 (US) order.  It is a great size and perfect for cards.

ASID-CCMC601

I made this card for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge 601, #CCMC601.

CCMC601

Old Olive is my go to color for foliage and the leaves in the Birthday dies are my current favorite for small leaves.  To go with the leaves I used the Small Bloom Punch for the Purple Posy flowers and the Pretty Peacock for the card base and flower centers.

ASID-CCMC601-side

I wanted to add some additional texture so I also used the Shimmery White embossing paste.  The polka dot stencil is from the Basic Pattern Decorative   Masks which debuted in the 2019 Holiday Catalog and is still available on the 2019 Holiday Catalog Carryover List.

ASID-CCMC601-side1

The Purple Posy layer is 5-1/4" x 8-1/4", scored at 2-1/8" & 4-1/4".  This is a simple and easy fun fold.  The embossing paste was only applied on the front panel.

ASID-CCMC601-side2

Are you wondering where those Pretty Peacock embellishments are from?  Here's how I made them.

  • Ink up a scrap piece of Pretty Peacock cs with Versamark ink
  • Sprinkle Glittery Goodness (mix of Clear Embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter) over it and heat emboss
  • Punch out circles, place them in the center of the flowers, apply Shimmery Crystal Effects (Holiday Catalog Carryover item) over them, & set aside to dry

Now you can make glittery embellishments in any color.

Now it is time to check out what the other design team members made for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.

PPP Blog Hop... Lovely Day

PaperPumpkinbloghop

Welcome to the Paper  Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop! We are all fans of this monthly crafting kit and want  to share with you our enthusiasm for this box of fun and creativity. The beauty  of the Paper Pumpkin kit is that you can follow the directions provided in the  kit to make the projects as they were designed, or use the supplies as a  starting point and let your creativity run wild. On this Hop we will be sharing  lots of ideas with you on how to use February's Paper Pumpkin kit: Lovely Day.

ASID-PPPFeb20

I usually try and make my alternate project using mostly  materials in the kit.  However this time I couldn't resist coloring the beautiful flower in the Lovely Day kit.  This flower is a larger version of the flowers that adorn the birthday cake in the Happy Birthday to You Sale-A-Bration stamp set and so fun to color.

I embossed the image using Versamark ink and Black embossing powder on Shimmery White cardstock.  I used Shimmery White CS since I planned to watercolor the image.  Shimmery White CS doesn't absorb the water as quickly as Whisper White or Very Vanilla CS does, which makes it a great choice when you watercolor.

ASID-PPPFeb20-side

I stamped the flower in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and attached the colored flower over it using Stampin' Dimensionals.   I love the rose gold foil sentiments that are in the kit.  They are already on a foam dimensional and are so pretty.  I hope we will see more of these kinds of embellishments.

Hope you enjoyed my alternate project idea using the February Paper Pumpkin kit.  It is time for you to see what the creative Darla Watson has made.

Sending Flowers Die

Wanted a little springtime in the craft room!

ASID-Febcardkit1-Sending Flowers

Used the Sending Flowers die from the Coordination Products Release, Garden Lane DSP, and a bunch of flowers cut using Balmy Blue, So Saffron, Highland Heather,  and Blushing Bride cardstock.

ASID-Febcardkit-sendingflowerside

Don't you love the sentiment?  It is from the Rise & Shine stamp set which is coming in the 2nd Sale-A-Bration release which begins on March 3rd.  I also used the Mossy Meadow twine from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack .

This card is one of the cards that you will receive when you use the Host Code, VRH7HE4C and place a $50 order.  You receive both a finished card and the supplies to make one.  The only thing that is not provided is the sentiment.  I cannot send stamped images so you will have to find your own sentiment to fit in the cute label.  You will also receive another card kit and I plan to show that to you another time.

Happy Birthday to You in Seaside Spray

Happy Friday and it is time  for the Festive Friday Challenge!   This time we are celebrating the festivity of Girl Scout Week!  Here's the Inspo List.

FF53

To play along with the challenge you need to pick a minimum of 3 items from the Inspo List for your project.  Easy peasy!  Lots of possibilities and inspiration to fuel your project.

ASID-FF53

From the Inspo List I chose blue, silver, birthday sentiment, and cake.

ASID-FF53-side

This week I have been focusing on the Coordination Products Release and today's card uses the Birthday dies.  I paired the Happy Birthday to You (Sale-A-Bration set) with the Breathtaking Bouquet stamp.  I think these 2 sets go together so beautifully.

ASID-FF53-open1

This card opens in just a little different way as you can see in the picture above.  Using the Birthday dies makes it easy to cut out the flowers as there is a die that cuts out them out.  I separated one of the flowers with just a few snips since most of the work was already done for me by the dies.

If you would like a tutorial for this card, guess what I have made one for you!

Seriously the Best

I am continuing the theme for the week showing projects using the Coordination Products.  Today's card was made for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #CCMC600!

CCMC600

I am always amazed when I know exactly what I want to make after seeing the sketch.  I wish it happened more often!

ASID-CCMC600

From the Coordination Product Release I used the Pleased as Punch DSP.  The umbrella was punched out from the DSP using the Umbrella Builder punch.  So cute right?  I also used the check design from the DSP pack.  The handle of the umbrella was punched out from Soft Suede cardstock using the punch.

I have been seeing lots of cards where the sentiment is fussy cut out so i decided to give it a try.  I embossed the thanks using white embossing powder on Soft Suede cardstock.  The sentiments from the Seriously the Best stamp set are large which makes it pretty easy to cut around them.

ASID-CCMC600-side

I added some sequin flowers from the Gingham Gala sequins.  They aren't a perfect match but because they are iridescent, it is a little more forgiving.

ASID-CCMC600-open

Surprise!  This is a latch card.  Behind the square panel there is a tab which slides into the opening created using the Classic Label punch.  You have to pull out the tab from the punch opening to open up the card.  Just something a little bit different.

Be sure to check out the Create with Connie & Mary blog to see what the other members of the design team made using the sketch.  I  love seeing how differently everyone interprets the sketch.

I can hardly take all the cuteness!  I love those raccoons from the Special Someone set and now with the Special Day dies I can cut them and the other critters out with ease.  Almost everything except for the stitched scalloped rectangle (Stitched So Sweetly dies) were cut out using the Special Days dies.

ASID-WhatsNew-Feb20open

Pull up on the ribbon and out pops a sweet sentiment and even more balloons!  So fun!

ASID-WhatsNew-Feb20side

I love the striped design from the Pleased as Punch DSP.  It is so happy and cheerful.  This pack of paper coordinates with the Small Bloom punch, Heart Punch Pack, Tulip Builder punch, and the Builder Umbrella punch.  On the flip side the designs are more neutral so this pack is fabulous whether you have the coordinating punches or not.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...February is All About Love

SDBH Banner

Happy Valentine's Day!  Today on the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop we are celebrating love, not only Valentine's Day but any occasion that celebrates love.  I chose to focus on a card that celebrates friendship.

ASID-CCMCFeb20

I am crazy for this raccoon from the Special Someone stamp set.  I will use the stamp set even more now that there are dies (Special Days Dies) available.  The sentiment is from the Thanks for the Laughs stamp set.  I used a Black Stampin' Write marker to color in part of the saying and stamped it on the Stitched So Sweetly label. The big Real Red heart was cut using a Stitched Be Mine die.

ASID-SDBHFeb20-open1

The DSP is the From My Heart Specialty DSP and many of the designs will work way beyond Valentine's Day.  This pack of paper has made me a fan of the Real Red and Flirty Flamingo color combination.

ASID-SDBHFeb20-open2

Inside the rest of the sentiment was stamped on Whisper White and cut using the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  The red heart on the inside and the one the raccoon is holding on the front was cut using the Stitched Be Mine dies.  There is a die that has multiple sizes of hearts on it.  I use that die a lot whenever I need a small sized heart.  I used the Shimmery Crystal Effects (150892 Holiday Carryover List) and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds glitter on it to make it even more glittery.

Thank you for stopping by and now it is time for you to check out the other stops in the Hop.

Positive Thoughts and the Nature's Thoughts dies

Are there stamp sets you shy away from?  For me, it is the collagey type sets.  Don't get me wrong I love them and usually end up buying them, it is just that I do not feel comfortable creating with them.  This is how I felt about the Positive Thoughts stamp set.  Loved the images and the sentiments but I wasn't sure if  I could put them all together.  Enter the Coordination Product Release.  Once I saw that there were coordinating dies (Nature's Thoughts dies) for the set, I could no longer resist.  Honestly, once I saw the die for the fern I was sold.

ASID-CCMC599jpeg

I made this card for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #CCMC599.  Love this color combination!  The center flower is inked in Flirty Flamingo ink and then gently sponged around the edges with Real Red ink.

CCMC599

Because I was so focused on the fern die I sort of overlooked what else was in the set.  There are dies that cut out the feather, butterfly, flower, and fern images.  In addition there is an awesome frame, small butterfly, border, 2 more foliage (1 small, 1 large), a larger feather that has embossed details, and 1 other die that maybe is for the center of the flower.

ASID-CCMC599-side1

Here's a peek of the inside of the card and the border die.  It is a perfect border for Valentine cards, can you see the OXO?

The only other die I used was the Stitched Rectangle die.  It is slight too short and doesn't make a perfect layer but  the flowers and foliage hide the gap .  Love the detail around the Basic Gray frame!  This die is going to be used a lot!

ASID-CCMC599-side2

I had an extra flower so it was also added to the inside of the card.

Love the products in the  Coordination Product Release!  I have spent some time using the Birthday Dies that coordinate with the Sale-A-Bration set, Happy Birthday to You.  You can see samples here and here.  You will be seeing more samples using the Coordination Product Release soon.  What is your favorite from the Coordination Product Release?
