Artfully Layered Thank You

This past weekend was the Creativity Abounds Artfully Composed Stamp Camp.  The camp was an online event and it was so much fun.  I did a Facebook Live (gasp!) and I survived-LOL!   One of the features of the camp is a private FB group just for the campers and it has been so fun and rewarding seeing the campers post their projects.  Lots of fun interactions and inspiration.  We are having another camp in April featuring the Symbols of Fortune Suite.  We are opening registration early so if you are interested please contact me.

After the camp I was feeling  thankful for all the lovely campers who participated in the camp and also for the team who put on the camp.  I was inspired to make a thank you card.

ArtfullyLayered-3panel

Just a simple 3 panel card to show the Artfully Composed DSP.  These panels are 1-1/4" x 5-1/4".  I also added a Basic Black strip  that was cut using one of the  Tropical Layers Dies.

ArtfullyLayered-3panel-side

I also added a black scalloped circle cut using the Layering Circles die and a piece of Layering Design Vellum.  The leaf is my favorite and  I added some sparkle with  Iridescent Rhinestones.  The sentiment was embossed using White embossing powder and then fussy cut out.

ArtfullyLayered-3panel-inside

Inside I added another strip of Black CS cut with the border die and  also a strip of DSP.   I had cut this leaf out for another project and decided it was the perfect way to dress up the inside of the card.

Sale-A-Bration Friendly Hello Birthday

Today I have another birthday card featuring the Friendly Hello stamp set.  When I see the bird on the branch image,  I can imagine her singing a sweet song, maybe at sunrise or sunset.  That idea is what inspired today's card.

Friendly_Hello-birthday

I started off creating the "sky". I used Blending Brushes on Basic White CS and started with Mango Melody, Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight, and then a bit of Night of Navy ink.  I just kept on applying ink and blending  until I was happy with the sky.   I added a few splatters using Water Painters and watered down White Craft ink.

I die cut a circle using the Layering Circle dies and then embossed the Basic White layer using the Merry Melody 3D Embossing folder.   This embossing folder debuted in the 2021 July-December Mini Catalog and has been carried over, which means it is still available to purchase.  I thought it was the perfect choice to accompany my singing bird.

I stamped the bird using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloring her in with Stampin' Blends.  I will post the colors I used below.  I fussy cut the bird and branch out.  After I fussy cut I go around the edges with the brush end of a Black Stampin' Write Marker.  This gives it a finished look and also helps cover up any white edges.

Friendly_Hello-birthday-side

Behind the bird I cut a Petal Pink flower using the Meadow Dies and colored over the stem using an Old Olive Stampin' Blend.  I also die cut the leaves from the Forever Flourishing dies in Gold Metallic Specialty Paper.    You can also see inside I added a full die cut flower using the Meadow Dies.

The sentiment was stamped on the lovely label which is in the Meadow Dies.

Friendly_Hello-birthday-hand

The last addition I made was to add the Coastal Cabana rhinestone from the Holiday Rhinestones to the sides of the sentiment label and the flower centers.

Artistically Inked Thanks

It is Thursday and time for a new Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.  This week it is a color challenge.

CCMC700

I arrange my stamp sets alphabetically and keep my new sets in a separate area.  Why?  I want to easily access the new sets and be sure to use them.  This strategy works for me and helps me to not forget about sets.  The only drawback is that I forget to look at the sets that I have used and are part of the main section of stamps.  I am now making an effort to use those sets too.  Some of them have not been used in a while which makes them almost new to me.

Artistically_Inked-thanks

Starting with the letter A, the Artistically Inked bundle!  What a beautiful bundle of products.  This is a Distinktive stamp set.  This type of stamps created this almost watercolored looking image.  The large flower was stamped in Calypso Coral ink (full strength) and because it is a Distinktive stamp there are different opacities on the one image.  The two smaller flowers were also inked in Calypso Coral ink but stamped off once for a less intense color.  Stamping off is a good way to get more out of the ink colors you have.

ArtisticallyInked-thanks-close

The beautiful large leaves was  cut using the Artistic Dies from Gold Metallic Specialty Paper.   There is texture to the Gold paper and also a shimmer that is hard for me to capture.  The thanks was heat embossed using Gold Embossing Powder and then fussy cut out.

Artistically_Inked-Calypso-side

The gold twine is from the Simply Elegant Trim pack.  When I use this twine I cut a slit on the sides of the card stock to prevent it from slipping.  I also add a tiny dot of glue behind the knot to keep it in place and also prevent it from coming untied.  I also added a few Gold Metallic Pearls around the images.

Artistically_Inked-Calypso-open

I had a leftover strip of the Gold Metallic Paper so I added it to the inside along with a medium sized flower in Calypso Coral and a leaves in Soft Succulent.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created using the colors from the challenge,

Sale-A-Bration Friendly Hello Birthday Pocket

The Friendly Hello stamp set and Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper is one of the 2022-J-F Sale-A-Bration choices.  It hardly gets any better a lovely stamp set and coordinating paper ...FREE with a qualifying purchase.

Friendly_Hello-pocket

I love florals, add a cute bird and I am all in.  Isn't she a sweet little Pool Party bird?. I colored the image using Stampin' Blends (see below for all the colors I used).  I used the same little trick I shared here.  The image was a little too big for the size circle I wanted to use so I stamped the image on the circle and then stamped the bird image again (on another piece of Basic White CS), colored it and fussy cut just enough to fit over where I needed to add on the tail.  The image is now complete with the tail extending over the edge of the circle.

Friendly_Hello-pocket-side

This pocket is one of the card styles I use a lot.  I like to show off both sides of the pretty paper and this pocket does that.  The pocket measures 4" x 12", just a bit narrower than a standard card base but this allows me to get 3 of these pockets from one sheet of 12" x 12" paper.  The DSP is scored at 5-1/2" and 10".  The flap was cut using one of the Basic Borders dies.  The pocket is held together with the Fresh Freesia ribbon.

Friendly_Hello-pocket-out

The inside card was finished with a strip of DSP and a couple of stamped, colored and fussy cut flowers and leaves.  The Fresh Freesia CS is 3-7/8" x 5-3/8" and the Basic White CS is 3-3/4" x 5-1/4".

FriendlyHello-Pocket-close

I added 3 Iridescent Rhinestones.  One near the sentiment and 2 in the flower centers.  Isn't cool how they look so different?  I love how they reflect the colors around them.  They are definitely one of my favorite new embellishments in the new J-J 2022 Mini Catalog.

Artfully Layered Birthday WIshes

I love color but every once in a while I what to make an all white card or a simple black and white card.  The Artfully Composed Suite is full of color and a tropical vibe but I also wondered how would it look in black and white?

Artfully_Layered-birthday-hand

I told you I was obsessed with this particular leaf die.  I am not sure I have made a card with the Artfully Layered Bundle that doesn't include this particular leaf.

Happy Hedgehogs Friendship

Happy Friday!  It is time for another Festive Friday Challenge.  What is the Festive Friday Challenge?  The Festive Friday Challenge features an  Inspo List.  The Inspo List is a list of 10 items inspired by a festivity, holiday.  You must use at least 3 of the items on the Inspo List on your project.  There are a few more rules that you can read about here.

FF101

I chose from the Inspo List: bird, tree, florals, green, and brown.

Happy_Hedgehogs-FF101

I used the adorable new Happy Hedgehogs bundle.   I stamped the hedgehog in Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and punched him out using the Hedgehog Builder punch.  This hedgehog is super sweet!

HedgehogHappiness-FF101-side

The little bird was stamped directly on the Stitched So Sweetly label.  I knew it wouldn't fit and some of the tail would be cut off.  I didn't want to fussy cut the entire bird out so instead I stamped another bird on a scrap piece of Basic White CS and colored it using Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut just the tail portion and used some Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach it over the bird.   Pretty neat little fix.

HedgehogHappiness-FF101-open

The pretty Fresh Freesia gingham check paper is from the Pansy Petals DSP.   Inside I added another strip of the gingham paper  and stamped the cute mushroom image from the Happy Hedgehog stamp set.

I look forward to seeing what you create in the Festive Friday gallery.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out how the rest of the design team was inspired by the Inspo List.

Artistically Inked

It is Thursday which means it is time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.  This week it is a sketch challenge.  I decided that I needed to play with a bundle and DSP  from the Annual. Catalog.

ExpressionsInInk-CCMC

I used the Expressions in Ink DSP.  This is truly one gorgeous pack of paper.  I used 3 different designs of DSP on my card.  Not only are the designs on the DSP  lovely, there is also gold foiling.

CCMC699

I used the Artistic Dies, part of the Artistically Inked bundle to cut out the Gold Metallic Paper.    I attached a piece of Vellum behind the die cut to help spotlight the beautiful die cut.

Expressions_in-Ink-CCMC-side

The sentiment  from the Artistically Inked stamp set was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink.  Little rhinestone gems from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels were attached to either side of the sentiment,

Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created using this sketch.

Artfully_Composed-CAhop-boxopen

Can you guess how many cards I have in this box?

Artfully_Composed-CAhop-boxin

If you guessed 10 you are correct!  Of course the number of cards and envelopes will depend on how "bumpy" your cards are.  It is a very spacious box and great to package cards up for gift giving.  I am looking forward to sharing all the details with our stamp camp participants.

Here's a list of all the stops on the hop! Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

Artfully Layered Thank You

Did you know that I was born and raised in Hawaii?  It is still home even though I haven't lived there in years.  When I saw the Artfully Composed Suite in the J-J 2022 Mini Catalog it reminded me of the islands and I knew I had to get it.  Here's one of my first plays with the Suite.

Artfully_Layered-thank_you

I used the Artfully Layered bundle, Artfully Composed DSP, and the Layering Designs Vellum   from the Suite.  This leaf die is just so lovely and graceful.  Check out the border, it too is part of the die set.  I used 3 different designs from the DSP.  Like most of the DSP packs, one side of the paper is a bolder design and the flip side is quieter.

Artfully_Layered-thnak_you-open

If you been thinking about the Artfully Composed Suite and what a fabulous collection it is? The Creativity Abounds blog hop group is doing an online stamp camp featuring the Artfully Composed Suite. This international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators does a monthly blog hop and now a quarterly stamp camp.  The online portion of the stamp camp will be on January 28 and 29th.  Do not worry if you cannot attend on those dates, everything will be recorded.

  • Tutorial PDF for the card kit.
  • Video tutorials for the card kit.
  • Access to an exclusive FB group.  Here is where you can attend live demonstrations featuring 12 additional projects using the Artfully Composed Suite.  These demonstrations will also be recorded.  There will be a variety of projects from cards to boxes!
