Stamping Inkspiration Blog Hop...Color Challenge

StampingInkspiration hop

Welcome to the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop!  This fun and talented group hops on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Every hop has a theme and this month we have a Color Challenge!

StampingInkColor

In Stampin' Up! lingo the colors are Blushing Bride, Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, Bumblebee, and Garden Green.  The challenge is to use at least 3 of these colors on our project.  We were also given the option of using Basic White, Very Vanilla, Basic Black and/or Crumb Cake.

HelloLadybug-StampingInk

I used Blushing Bride, Polished Pink and Garden Green on my card.   True Confessions time-I purchased the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Masks as soon as I could and this was the first time I really played with them!  It was fun and easy using the Blending Brushes with Blushing Bride and Polished Pink to make a soft design.  I am inspired to play with them more so stay tuned!

Butterflies&FlowersLayeringMasks-storage1

One thing I noticed it was difficult to put the masks back into the plastic bag they came in.  There are lots of cuts and openings on the masks so it is easy to get snagged on the other masks.  My quick solution was to put them in one of the Standard Stamp Cases (page 145 Annual Catalog way at the bottom).  I slipped the envelope the masks came in on the front so I can see what's stored inside.

Butterflies&FlowersLayeringMasks-storage

Now it is easier to pull out the masks to use and to put them away.  Depending on where I end up storing the masks, I might also put a label on the spine.  Hope that was a helpful tip and now back to the card!

The cute scalloped edge was cut using the Penned Flower dies.  Are you wondering what set that sentiment is from?  It is the Special Moments stamp set, a Sale-A-Bration choice.  It seem like since i got it I have been using it non stop.  So many great sentiments to choose from, 21 to be exact.   Remember, Sale-A-Bration ends this month.

I had to a few (ahem, 13!) Iridescent Rhinestones.  They are so sparkly and pick up the colors around them.  I also added the Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon to "tie" it all together and add a little more sparkle.

Now it is time to hop on over to see what the oh so creative Angie McKenzie has created for you.

Party Puffins

It is Thursday which means it is time for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.   This week it is a color challenge and it fits perfectly with Valentine's Day coming up!

PartyPuffins-CCMC

I pulled out the Party Puffins stamp set.  I haven't played with this set in a bit and I missed this cute little guy.  I colored the beak in with Highland Heather and his feet with Blushing Bride.  Now I am sure you can guess what the color challenge is.

CCMC702

The Sweet Talk 12" x 12" DSP is full of these colors.  However now that I am looking at the "official" colors it looks like the color in the DSP is Petal Pink and not Blushing Bride!  Ooops!  I guess I should have checked but it looks to me more like Blushing Bride than Petal Pink.

Both sentiments I used are from the Special Moments Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  This stamp set has so many great sentiments in lovely fonts, it is a great addition to any stamp collection.

ICS Blog Hop...Time to Sale-A-Brate!

ICS header

Welcome to the Inspire Create Share blog hop!  We are a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who gather together on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for this blog hop.  Every month we have a theme and this month it is, Time to Sale-A-Brate.  In case you are not familiar with Sale-A-Bration it is a fun  promotion that occurs twice a year.  This period of Sale-A-Bration runs from January 4 to February 28th.  During Sale-A-Bration you can choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration  product with a qualifying purchase.  You can see the Sale-A-Bration products HERE.

DrivingBy-ICS-funfold

For my project I am using 2 Sale-A-Bration choices, Driving By stamp set and the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP.

This card has a little secret it opens in a different way than  a regular card.

DrivingBy-ICS-flap

Kind of fun right?  The right edge folds back which allows the card to open.  Here are the details.

  • Midnight Muse card base- 5-1/2" x  7-1/2" scored at 3-1/4" and 6-1/2"
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP Granny Apple Green pattern 3" x 5-1/4"
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP Midnight Muse pattern 3/4" x 5-1/4"
  • Basic White CS 3" x 5-1/4" inside of the card
  • Basic White CS 3" x 3" cut using the Layering Circle die 2"-3/8"
  • Midnight Muse CS 3" x 3" cut using the Layering Circle die (scallop) 2-1/2"
  • scrap pieces of Basic White for the balloons.

You can see that I omitted part of the sentiment.  I used a self adhesive page marker to cover up the "hi" and then inked up the stamp.  Be sure to remove the page marker before you stamp the sentiment.

DrivingBy-ICS-sentiment

I also added a few dots using a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  This marker is a handy one to have.  I could have also used the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to color in the sentiment instead of an ink pad.  If I had used the marker I wouldn't have had to use the page marker to cover up the word.

DrivingBy-ICS-open

The inside sentiment is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.  I also masked the car to stamp only the balloons.

DrivingBy-ICS-masking

This time I used a post it note to cover up the car before i inked up the balloons.

Now it is time for you to hop on over to see what Dana has created for you!

Nuts About Squirrels

The Nuts About Squirrels  stamp set debuted in the 2021 July-December Mini Catalog.  I was tempted to get it but never did.  When I saw that it was being carried over (see page 75 of the 2022 J-J catalog)I knew I had to get it.

This card was made for the Festive Friday Challenge #FF102.  What is the Festive Friday Challenge?  The Festive Friday Challenge is the challenge with the Inspo List.  The Inspo List is a list of 10 items that were inspired by a festivity.  You need to use 3 items from the Inspo List on your project.  Here's a link to all  the info on participating in the challenge.

FF102

I used Red, Pink, Sparkle, Ribbon, Hearts, and Cute.  I am not sure the sentiment I used would be considered romantic but maybe?

NutsABoutSquirrels-FF-side

The paper is from the Sweet Talk DSP pack.  Such a cute pack of paper that can be used beyond Valentine's Day.  The ribbon is the Real Red Faux Linen and it is a dream to tie bows with. I confess that I had to dip into my stash of retired Glimmer papers for the Real Red Glimmer paper used for the heart and the scallop around the circle.  The heart die I used to cut the glittery heart is from the Give It A Whirl dies.

NutsAboutSquirrels-FF-open

Inside I added a strip of the DSP and another red glittery heart.

Catching Butterflies

I just recently received the Sale-A-Bration set, Catching Butterflies.  The set reminded me of when my son was in elementary school and had a science segment on insects.  He was very into bugs and we spent many an afternoon looking for bugs and trying to catch them.

CatchingButterflies-CCMC

I used Stampin' Blends to color the girl and used one of the colors from the new Natural Tones Stampin' Blends for her skin.  It is wonderful to have so many more options for coloring.  I also added a few flowers from the Peach dies in Pale Papaya, So Saffron, and Calypso Coral.

Ccmc701

Here's the Create with Connie and Mary sketch that was used for the card.  The Create with Connie and Mary challenge is a weekly challenge that alternates between sketches and color combinations.

CatchingButterflies-CCMC-side

I wanted to create the illusion that the butterfly was actually flying so I fussy cut the butterfly out, attached it to a strip of window sheet and attached the strip  to the back of the Layering Circles dies.  The sentiment is from the Sweet as a Peach stamp  set and cut out using the Peach dies.

CatchingButterflies-CCMC-open

The patterned paper is the Sweet Symmetry DSP. I love these happy colors and designs.  It is a great pack of paper to mix and match the patterns.  Inside of the card I added a little strip of the DSP and stamped and colored a few butterflies.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created for this challenge.
