Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop...Sketch 106
May 08, 2024
Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop! We are a group of international Stampin' Up!® demonstrators who have gathered together for a monthly blog hop. The blog hop goes live on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Join us and enjoy a hop around the world!
This month we have a sketch challenge! This is Around the World on Wednesday Sketch Challenge #106.
Isn't this a fun sketch? I have been wanting to use the Thoughtful Designs Specialty DSP and this sketch was the perfect opportunity.
The Thoughtful Designs Specialty DSP is so pretty. The print is pearlized so it has subtle shine. There is a lovely gradation of color as you can see on the 3 strips I used. There are 5 sheets in the pack and the colors that can be found are Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon, Misty Moonlight, Mossy meadow, Petunia Pop, Pretty Peacock, and Wild Wheat.
- Petunia Pop Card Base- 4-1/4" x 11".
- Basic White layer 4" x 5-1/4" embossed using the Timber 3D Embossing folder. This is my current go-to embossing folder when I want some texture but nothing too obvious.
- Thoughtful Designs Specialty DSP three strips 1/2" x 5-1/4" .
- Stylish Shapes circle dies #5 (#1 being the smallest) stamped with an image from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set. Flowers colored using Old Olive and Petunia Pop Stampin' Blends. The background color is Shy Shamrock (2024-26 In Color) applied with a Blending Brush.
- Stylish Shapes banner die-sentiment from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set inked in Memento Tuxedo Black. The little Petunia Pop gem is from 2024-26 In Color Shimmer Gems.
- Tiny bow tied using the Petunia Pop Bordered Ribbon.
- Lots of Wink of Stella on the flower petals.
- Basic White CS layer 4" x 5-1/4"
- Stamped the Thoughtful Wishes image 3 times and colored using Stampin' Blends.
- Thoughtful Designs Specialty DSP strip 1/2" x 5-1/4" along the side.
Now it is time to check out what the creative and talented Chris Smith has made using the sketch.
Here is a list of all the stops on the hop! Enjoy and thank you for stopping by!

Such a sweet card Sharon, love the colours. Great take on the sketch and the inside is as pretty as the outside! xx

Such a lovely card with so many delightful details, Sharon! Adding Wink of Stella to the flower petals was a brilliant touch to coordinate with this gorgeous pearlized feature of the DSP strips. Lovely blending of Shy Shamrock, too! xx

This is such a pretty way to use the specialty paper! It highlights those bitty flowers perfectly and it's a wonderful approach to the sketch.

I love the sweet simplicity of this card! The soft shaded Pool Party background really makes the Petunia Pop stand out!

I really like this, Sharon. I like the use of that Specialty DSP. It's such a fresh design with the colours you've used and the clean design. It's also interesting to see Thoughtful Wishes used alone without the (admittedly gorgeous) Thoughtful Journey DSP. Lovely card! :-)

Wow, a big card! That metallic paper is just perfect for the sketch and I love the use of stamps you made on the focal element. Bravo!
