Fun Fold Friday

Hydrangea Haven

The 2021 Stampin' Up!® January-June Mini catalog is full of so many beautiful stamp set, dies, Designer Series Paper (DSP) and embellishments.  For the Festive Friday challenge I pulled out the Hydrangea Haven bundle.   This was my first real play with the products and I am hooked.  Before I get started telling you about the Hydrangea Hill Suite let's talk about the Challenge.

The Festive Friday Challenge is a bi-weekly challenge and each challenge lasts 10 days.  The challenge is inspired by a festivity and based on that festivity an inspiration list is created aka Inspo List.  There are always 10 items on the list and to play in the challenge you need to use at least 3 items from the list on your project.  You post your project on the Festive Friday blog gallery.  There are just a few rules and you can find them here

FF78

This challenge #FF78 ends on March 1 at 4 pm CST.  I hope you will join in the fun.  I would love to see what you create.

HydrangeaHaven-FF78

As I mentioned I used the Hydrangea Haven bundle, Hydrangea Hill DSP, and the Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon on my card.  The 3 items from the Inspo list on my card: fun fold, flowers, and female sentiment.

The beautiful flower was cut using a die from the DSP.  I wish i could claim that I colored it but it is the paper. The die is pretty special, it partially cuts out little flower petals which i pushed out so it looks dimensional.  I may have gone a little rhinestone crazy but sometimes you just gotta do it.  The rhinestones were colored using the Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.  All the patterned paper is from the Hydrangea Hill DSP pack.

The lovely sentiments are  from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set and they are powerful words.  I am sure we all know someone or many someone's we could send this card to.  The larger label was cut using the Stitched Nested dies  and the smaller stitched rounded rectangle is from the Hydrangea dies.

Festive Friday Winter Solstice

Do you know what the significance of the Winter Solstice is?  Here it marks the day with the shortest amount of daylight.  I don't really celebrate the Winter Solstice but I probably should because what it also means is that the daylight hours will start getting longer!  I am all for that.

The Winter Solstice is the inspiration behind the Festive Friday's Inspo List.

To play along with the Festive Friday Challenge all  you need to do is pick 3 items from the list and use it on your project and then post it to the Festive Friday Gallery.   It is easy and fun and we would love to see how the Inspo list inspires you!

FF73-shaker

I was inspired to use the items blue, snowflakes, and trees on my shaker card. Inside the window created by the So Many Snowflakes die, I used the Feels Like Frost DSP .  I added Snowflake Sequins and some of those little silica gel beads (dehumidifier packets) for the shaker elements.   The outside of the frame is embossed using the Winter Snow Embossing folder.  In the center of the snowflakes I placed some sparkly Blue Adhesive Backed gems.

FF73-shakerside

Making a shaker card is easy using Foam Adhesive Strips.  I use the strips to create a frame for my shaker elements and since they are double stick I also used it to adhere the Window sheet to close up the frame.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created using the Inspo List.

Celebrate Sunflowers Fun Fold

It is Friday and I have a fun fold to share with you.  This is a quick and easy one, so let's get started!

ASID-CelebrateSunflowers-flap

Are you beginning to wonder...fun fold?  It is coming, sometimes it is the surprise that makes it fun! This big sunflower is just fabulous.  The main flower was stamped, embossed with white embossing powder, colored using Cinnamon Cider and Bumblebee ink, and cut using the Sunflowers dies.  The detailed/outline was cut using Bumblebee CS.  The center of the flower is Cinnamon Cider CS with a brushing of Wink of Stella over it.  The leaves were cut out in Old Olive CS using the Sunflowers dies.

The background is the sunflower stamped in Bumblebee ink and the splatters from the Forever Fern stamp set in Cinnamon Cider ink.  The sentiment was embossed using white embossing powder and then fussy cut.

ASID-CelebrateSunflowers-flapup

Surprise!  Yes, the front panel is a flap that lifts up.  The sunflower was inked and stamped once on a piece of scrap paper before stamping on the cardstock.  I didn't want the stamping to interfere with the message, just enhance it.

Here are the measurements:

  • Cinnamon Cider CS base- 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
  • Bumblebee CS flap- 3-1/4" x  8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4"
  • Whisper White CS front -  3" x  4-1/4"
  • Whisper White inside- 3" x  4"

Just a few more sleeps until Bonus Days will be just a dream.  Don't miss out!

Whale Done Friends

They say that summer doesn't really start here in the Seattle area until after the 4th of July.  It was a few days late but it looks like summer has arrived!  When I think of summer I think of the beach, which may be why I keep reaching for the Whale of a Time suite.

ASID-WhaleDone-Lifeis

In today's card the Whale of a Time 6" x 6" DSP does most of the work.  This pack of DSP is so much fun  and perfect to create fun underwater scenes.  One of the whales was punched out from the DSP using the Whale Builder punch and the other was stamped. I used the Stamparatus to do a reverse image of the whale and then fussy cut it out.  The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

ASID-WhaleDone-Lifeisside

Here's the scoop on how I made this card.

  •     Card base 5-1/2" x 8-1/4" scored at 2", 3", 5-1/4", & 6-1/4"
  •     DSP 2 pieces at 1-3/4" x 5-1/4" and 1 piece at 2" x 5-1/4"
  •     Piece for the back to write a message, behind the center panel 2" x 5-1/4
