Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Food!

Blog hop header

Welcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  The theme this month is FOOD!  I will be the first to admit that my project may be on the fringes of this theme.   When I first got the idea I was so excited and was convinced it would be a good fit.  Now I am not so sure.  Just keep in mind that cake is food and so is gum.

See that cute little cake from the Endless Birthday Wishes set on the tag?  Cake, that's food right?

Let's see what is inside the box?  Birthday Cake gum, now that's food too, right?  This little box would also be the just right  for a big cookie.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Color Challenge

Blog hop header

Welcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop.  This month we are working with a color challenge.

Yes, I had a bit of trouble with this combination until I realized that this combination is part of the colors in the Sale-A-Bration Carried Away DSP.  I used one of the designs from the paper pack and from there things got much easier.

Special Reason Bundle and the Flourish thinlits www.sharonburkert.com

I created my own glimmer paper by inking up some Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder card stock with VersaMark ink and then heat embossing it with a custom blend of  Dazzling Diamonds glitter and Clear Embossing powder.  I used these pieces as my base for the flowers I cut out, using the Stylish Stems Framelits.

I cut out leaves and buds using the Flourish thinlits.   I tucked in the leaves and buds around the sparkly flowers.  I also used the Sunshine Wishes thinlits to cut out the "congrats".   I just realized that I did not use a single stamp on this card.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Punch Art

Blog hop header

Welcome to another Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month we are focusing on Punch Art.  Honestly, I was a little stumped on what to share with you until I remembered I had another card from the Bunch of Blossom stamp camp that I never shared.   I know I shared the tree but this card not only features a cute punch tree but a fun fold too.

Bunch of Blossom bundle www.sharonburkert.com

The tree and star are all from the Blossom Builder punch.  I loved the versatility of this stamp set and punch.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...September edition

Blog hop header

Welcome to the September Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month the theme is Cards that Move.   I love a fun fold and one that has some movement is even better.  I had a plan in mind of what I wanted to make and when I was done making my card I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  This should have been my first clue that something was awry.   I had to run a bunch of errands so I decided to take my  pictures and then complete my blog post when i got back.  While I was out I realized that somewhere along the way I strayed from my original card concept and  I really did not make a card that moved.  I also knew thatI wouldn't have time to remake the card, take new pictures and write up a post before the hop went live.  So, please use your imagination and play along with me and act surprised when the reindeers pull out of a secret(imaginary) pocket.

Santa's Sleigh bundle, www.sharonburkert.com,#stampinup

Now here is where you have to pretend that the reindeers  pull out of a secret pocket.

Santa's Sleigh bundle, www.sharonburkert.com, #stampinup

Unfortunately, what I actually made was a Z fold card.  I was going to try and rationalize that it moves to open but every card does that.  It still is pretty cute even if it doesn't move.

Thank you for stopping by and playing along with me and my card that doesn't really move.  Be sure to head over to Laura Milligan's blog.  I know she  has a super cute card that actually does  move for you.

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop....Shaking it Up!!

Blog hop header

Welcome to another fun Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month we are shaking it up with shaker cards!  Don't you love a shaker card?  Lots of ideas went through my head but I just couldn't settle on the right combination of stamps and things to shake.  So, what do I do when I need a jump start?  I organize!  As I was going through one of the many stacks in my room guess what I found...  Shrink Plastic!  Remember shrink plastic?  I know Stampin' Up! doesn't currently sell it and it may not be in vogue right now but oh I love me some shrink plastic!

The shrink plastic I found was just in a file folder and it is very thin.  I remember buying it a long time ago and being able to use my punches to punch out shapes to shrink.  Do you see where I am going with this?  If I can punch it, then I can die cut it!  Now this opened up a whole range of possibilities.

Bear Hugs www.sharonburkert.com

I stamped the fish from the Bear Hugs set in Stazon ink and colored them in with Sharpies and then shrank them using my heat tool.   I added some silver beads and sequins to help the little fishes swim. The little fish shrank from 1-1/8" to about 3/8", just perfect for a shaker card.

Do you know what else is perfect for making shaker cards?  The Foam Adhesive strips (141825) on page 182 of the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog.  These long thin strips(1/8" x 9") are perfect to use to attach your frames and corral your shaker items.  They are also great to use as dimensionals when you are securing little pieces, since you cut what you need.

Well, it is time for you to hop on over to Laura Milligan's blog and see what she's got shaking!  I know it is going to be amazing!

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Two Step Stamping

Blog hop headerWelcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Two Step Stamping!  Today I am sharing with you a brand new stamp and framelit that will be available to purchase on August 2.  As a demonstrator, I was able to pre-order it and it is truly a beautiful set.  I know it isn't nice to share something you cannot order yet but I couldn't resist playing with the set.

Thoughtful Branches stamp set www.sharonburkert.com #stampinup

Isn't the flower so pretty?  I stamped over the die cut with Pink Pirouette ink and then decided I wanted to add some sparkle so I stamped again using VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it.  Thank goodness for the Stamp-a-ma-jig!   I used a mixture of Clear embossing powder and Dazzling Diamond glitter to emboss.

Thoughtful Branches side 1

I really love the font used for the sentiments in this set, it looks very modern and fresh.  I wish my handwriting looked like this!

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Patriotic

Blog hop header

Welcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop.  This month our theme is Patriotic projects.

  Jar of Love, www.sharonburkert.com, #stampinup

I stamped the jar on card stock vellum and used a heat tool to  help speed up the drying of the ink.  Once that was dry I stamped the water inside the jar in Pool Party ink.  I  used the heat tool again.   I used Real Red and Dapper Denim for the flowers.   I decided that white flowers wouldn't show up very well so I went with silver stars instead.

Jar of Love www.sharonburkert.com #stampinup

I used the Thoughtful Banners stamp set for the sentiment and the cute label.  The set contains lots of words.  This is a very useful stamp set.   I finished off the banner with the stars from the new Enamel Shapes.   I love that the enamel shapes come in every color and there are different shapes.   There are 2 sizes of circles, hearts and stars.  Pretty cool huh?

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Getting Sketchy

Blog hop header

Welcome to the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop!  This month we are doing something a little different.  We are using a sketch designed by France Martin.  Here is the sketch.

SD Sketch 2:16

Isn't it a great sketch?  Lots of possibilities.  Here is what I came up with based on the sketch.

Birthday Blooms SD blog hop

If you follow my blog you know how much I love this stamp set, Birthday Blooms.  Here's what I did.  I first embossed the image using white embossing powder on Shimmery White card stock.   I colored in the flower using Elegant Eggplant and Pear Pizzaz ink refills and an Aqua Painter.  I then fussy cut around some of the image and then used a square framelit to cut the rest.  The image is layered on Basic Black card stock and Silver Foil paper.

Product List

Birthday Blooms SD Blog hop side

I also used 2 new Sale-A-Bration items that will be available February 16-March 31 on my card.  The first is the Party Pants stamp set.  The sweet little sentiment is from that set.  The second is the Metallics Glitter Tape.  This tape is fabulous.  You get 3 rolls of glitter tape, one of each color.  The colors are gold, silver and white.   I used a strip of the silver tape on the inside of my card.

Birthday Blooms SD Blog hop inside

You will have to use your imagination a bit to really appreciate how lovely this tape is.  It looks more like Silver Glimmer paper except it comes on a roll and is 9/16" wide.

Now it is time for you to hop on over to see what France Martin has in store for you!  You know it is going to be great!

Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop...Sale-A-Bration!

Blog hop header

Welcome to another Stamper's Dozen Blog hop!  This month our theme is Sale-A-Bration.  If you are new to Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration is probably the biggest event  of the year.  In a nutshell, for every $50 you spend (before tax and shipping) you get to choose a free item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  Sale-A-Bration runs from January 5-March 31.   This year there are a few choices that are available for a limited time (until February 15).   The Sky is the Limit stamp set is one of these sets and it is a great set to make manly cards.  Here in the Seattle area it is especially good set to have in your stamp collection since so many  people have a connection to Boeing.

Sky is the Limit 2

Wait a minute!  Did you notice that the plane is in a different spot from the first photo?  Are you wondering what is going on?  Well, check this out.

Hope that the video didn't make you dizzy!  Yes, it is a rolling penny card but done in the round so the plane can "fly" around the world.  Isn't it fun?  The Going Places  suite in the Occasions catalog has lots of fun travel inspired product that work well with the Sky is the Limit set.  I think the sentiment "I'm Lost Without You" from the Going Global stamp set would also be fun paired with this card.

Remember that the Sky is the Limit stamp set is only available until February 15 so be sure to get your set before time runs out.

Now it is time for you to hop to see what the creative France Martin has to share with you!
